My bff got caught with some MMJ in the UP. The state police let her go after seeing her card. She was somewhere near Newberry.

We got caught trying to smuggle pasties past the bridge and were detained for 17 hours... ;)

My friends, 30+ year Detroit area residents, are now Packer Backers too. I think it's a prerequisite once you're north of The Mac.

I agree, Obama has already won the re-election if you simply look at his pathetically weak opposition. You've got a 3 time married disgraced catholic cheater and a mormon who pays 14% income taxes on 47 million dollars. Thems there are some tough cookies to swallow for most people who believe in morals and fairness. It's pretty f'd up that a minimum wage earning mcdonald's employee pays a higher tax rate than an individual who makes about 23.5 million / year....where o where did the system go wrong?

Welp, good morning my fellow Yoopanese Michiganders. I actually was up early (6ish) to drive the brats to school. I had plants to tend to afterward, so now I am online whilst the wife is making breakfast.

Good morning, Mr. Slick! I am always up early... 4-5am. I made a gourmet spread of toast and jelly for breakfast... I'm such a Betty Crocker today. :)

Now I'm not a Mitt lover, but he gave 15% to charity as compared to Obama's 1%. I'd rather have Newt or Mitt than Obama any day.

It's funny cuz the majority I see are Packer, Red Wing and Tiger fans. lmao.
Back to NORML Winter Woman. I actually think the subchapters of NORML are very important. Each person running that chapter is responsible for that area and some are better than others. My friend got into marijuana trouble up here and was legal. I called NORML they put me in contact with the person running UPNORML. They showed up and rallied at the court cases, urged her to fight for all of our rights, said they would get money to help legal battle. Urged her to appeal court decision to court of appeals and then disappeared without paying a dime for attorneys fees. I have spoke with another member of RIU who way actually at the court cases and said he knew things were goofy. Was money collected for her attorney fees? She has tried contacting several people - nothing. Now it is all private. Shady as hell! Who knows what happened?
I now know to do a little research and see what each sub chapter does before I donate any time and/or money. I would love to hear from anyone with any info.

I've actually heard similar stories about a couple subchapters, gladstoned, which spurred my decision to do some looking around before I donate my time or money. Not knocking them AT ALL, just saying I'd like to know more before I hop onto a bandwagon without a band. Or a wagon! :P

I am also attending the next meeting so I can check things out for myself, and get a chance to talk to some members firsthand.

how do you research a chapter anyway? I'd like to know so I join a good, active chapter
I think I am now. lol. Hopefully someone involved with NORML will respond. The UP is great, beautiful place. No traffic jams, few murders, blah blah blah, I don't trust a sole up here. lmao. I think I am going to contact some people from NORML and flat out ask what they are doing, what chapters are strong and what chapters need people.
An obvious answer could be to help form or re-form the UPNORML but fuck all that noise, I have asked dozens of people, sent dozens of emails and never got one straight answer on anything up here, I have heard from many that it is simply a 'shady situation'. I have a heart and it is no longer in the UP. I have learned many live up here to get away, not get involved. I can respect that and by the end of the year, my house should be on the market.

Obama has been a big disappointment for me, but I would MUCH rather have him in office than ANY Republican. Look at the all-out assault on medical marijuana here since the Republicans took over in Michigan. Having that on a national level would not be a good thing, Winter Woman. Romney having made 43 million over the last 2 years (none of which was income), and paying 13% tax on that 43 million, I would hope that he would be giving some of that money away!

Besides, he gave most of it to his bat-shit crazy Mormon church.

Mitt is really more of a democrat than a republican if you look at his track record as governor so I myself could stomach him as president. Newt on the other hand....pure evil at it's finest. Obama has certainly proven himself to be a liar and I have no interest in seeing him as president for another 4 years after his spending spree and attack on MMJ within the states. What would concern me with Mitt becoming president is that he would pander to the republicans and have another repeat of the bush administration....we all remember John Aschcroft and operation pipedream, yes? The horror.....the horror.. :)

I just remembered, donations are tax deductible.....something tells me Mitt and his accountants didn't forget that at tax filing time.

Nobody can convince me that Newt and Mitt are the two best options for the republican party. Impossible. A few elections ago they had George Bush or John Carry. Those were honestly the two options for President of the United States! George Bush and John Carry?! I knew at that moment we were fucked! I swear I could go to any Walmart and find someone better. I swear it's like wrestling. Back stage they are all laughing and partying together counting money. lol.
