Any ideas on what causes this?

I'm really pissed off at all the money I have wasted and I really feel like calling it a day on the growing front. It seems like its just one problem after another!!

can get like that sometimes eh? whats the story with the plant, need to bang up a load of info really m8, if poss a pic of the whole plant etc,

Roots a light brown colour, bit of clear slime, earthy smelling.

Some of my older leaves are/were doing the same exact thing right now, also at 4 weeks into flower. From what I understand its a nitrogen deficiency, I upped the amount of N and the newer leaves are way greener.

Something also tells me the problem may lie with the roots. I was very root bound and once I transplanted the problem seemed to go away... You mention some slime and brown on your roots which I imagine could be what's causing damage. Hopefully someone who grows in hydro can come along and tell you how to take care of that, might be as simple as cleaning out the res and sterilizing everything with peroxide

Clear slime is not good. Is light getting into your rez?

The leaf pic looks like lack of nitrogen. The slime might cause that.

check your tubing from your chiller is blacked out .......mine wasnt and i got same prob

im gunna have to go with lock out cant tell tho with out looking at the plant i do no tho u do need to use alot of that humbolt organic comparred to reg nutes we had the same issue with lock out from it we raised the ph up to around 6-6.5 blasted the nutes and they came back good what ml rate are u useing at week 4 better still whats ur ppm

I just wrap them with insulation tape

no....the ones that are not under water....iv got a chiller with a tube going from my inline pump and it WAS clear until i duck taped it all round....not the bit whats in the water( which should be light proof)...

Not sure I understand m8. The tubes are covered over as they go into the rez. Do you mean the parts of the tube that are going into the chiller and exposed to the lights when they are on BB?

YES!! lol....its just a mistake i made.....clear tubing causing white clear slime.

Ph seems a slightly high for my likings. I try to never go above 6 in hydro. Just my 2 cents. Try keeping it between 5.5 and 5.9

H202 or dutch masters "zone" will help get rid of that root slime. I'd recommend keeping a live or sterile Rez.(active bacteria or something to kill all bacteria, good or bad) One or other. Each has it's own advantages.

PPM is referring to TDS (total dissolved solids) readings. IMO it should be used in correlation with EC (electrical conductivity).

Edit: sorry I thought you had said you didn't know what ppm was, not what the specific ppm was. Excuse me
