PPM is referring to TDS (total dissolved solids) readings. IMO it should be used in correlation with EC (electrical conductivity).
Got ya. I always thought PPM & EC were one and the same. I'll have to invest in a PPM meter What PPM should I be aiming for Rob?.

1.4 EC is 700 ppm if that gives u any kind of answer. 700 is usually my max ppm in veg. And that's strain dependent. I had one that couldn't take more than 400; ever. Less is more in dwc, start low, work your way up in 50 to 100 ppm a week until u see the slightest nutrient burn, then drop the ppm 100 from that. Then you know your plants are taking everything that they can without damage. Looks to be that .1 EC equals roughly 50 ppm. Ppm just let's u be more exact. Hope this helps man.

The slime is root rot and you need to take care of that first. The plants are showing deficiency because of the root rot.

I think your chiller is not working properly check with a thermometer. Change your water out at least every two weeks. h2o2 don't work its gone in 24 hrs and kills all bacteria even the good guys

Don't let any light get to your roots or reservoir water ever, as it provides heat and light which will promote the growth of bacteria It is beneficial to try to get as much oxygen as possible dissolved in your water. Therefore it's a good idea to buy a BIG air pump and big air stones for your hydroponic system. The more bubbles and surface agitation, the better, as this dissolves more oxygen into the water. Root rot cannot thrive in an oxygen-rich environment and your plants roots will love it.

Hi Doc

My chiller seems to be OK. I have a water thermometer in the rez at all times and it always reads a degree or two above what the chiller says which is normal for the chiller I have as it says so in the user manual.

Yep, I started with DWC and found it to be nothing but a pain in the ass. Tried soil before giving it up and have never looked back. First plant turned out to be a heavy yielder and I didn't have to babysit it like DWC. I watered and fed it when it needed it and didn't do shit else. Been doing it the same exact way every since.

Yeah, I hear that, the first time I tried DWC I got 15+ oz per plant. I always used to use soil before this. Thinking of going back to soil, but used to get some good yields with DWC. Its just the last 2 grows have been very disappointing!

yup try dropping your chiller.

try a few degrees and then check the temp with a thermometer. if your water is too hot you will get slime, if light is getting in your rez you will get slime. what im trying to say is just because your chiller is set doesn't make it accurate. another thing I noticed is some thermometers are off. when I buy one at the store I will look at all of them and see what ones seem to match up and choose from those. I had one that was off five degrees before.
 
Yer clear the slime change ur rez water make sure no light leaks and perhaps give em quarter strength veg nutes if ur ewc tea does no good.
