Any here rented a shop and grew in it?

It depends what kind of shop, and where you live. Neither of these questions I'm going to ask you because that's just fucked up..

My only concern for you brotha is this, health inspector comes-your fucked. So, my advice is just make sure your shop dosn't have food or anything of that sorts.

also with my shop each cabinet is going to be securely locked. the flowering room i am actually going to frame out a door and put one in with a deadbolt. obviously i know they can still get into it but one more thing to delay them.

also i will have a security system on this and told the landlord that if he ever needs in he will need to call me and setup a time and date since i travel alot for work.

another thing. he didn't say anything about changing the locks on the door. can i do this? should i do this? or will that just make him more interested and want to get in. would it just be better to let him come in and look around? (like i said the grow rooms will be locked.)

i wasn't telling you, i was agreeing with you.

i have been thinking about this... i would change the locks and dont tell him..soo its always a back it if he was goona drive by.. i have been looking at a road frontage place.. high trafic out side...and setting up a server farm...( massive amount of power) then back it off in a month and you could use 20000 watts for what ever you wanted...

yeah i think i will change the locks. should have more pics after today or tomorrow. going to put up the eggcrate and get my exhaust in today.

thanks for the welcome. And I didn't go to the hospital. I know how to immobilize a foot and have an incredible threshold for pain. I hate hospitals. But that bone hurt, and all I had was racy sativas to smoke as I'd given up my heavies to my brother for his bad back. Now we are a family or cripples,LOL. Something about up weed that makes me focus on pain, sunburn, toothache type crud I can usualy filter out.

Definitely change those locks. You sound like you are thinking this out thoroughly.

As for sound, sound is made by something, nosy people wonder what that something is, suddenly fdd's friends show up.

Why make it obvious at all that there is another room? The owner would know more space should be there, but no one else would know the difference. Out side kill switch for emergency noise control.

did you look at the pictures? the ceiling is like 20' tall. i have a loft with a cab on it. and the flower room is going to go underneath that. theres no other way to make it look less out of place rather than make it into a "welding/fiberglass shop, inside a shop"

Soo.... You can rent commercial real estate and keep it isolated from your home property in case you get pinched.

Its way less suspicious for a warehouse that does plating work to consume 40kw of electricity then a 2 bedroom house.

Im pretty sure most of the good weed around the northeast is grown indoors commercially. Just no reason that someone with the money to back that kind of enterprise couldnt buy it with a dummy company, run it with goons, and keep yourself totally isolated from the grow.

Guess I missed how you had the loft set up. 20ft would be a bitch to wall off.

My father owned a Pawnshop in a plaza for 15 years, His lanlorn ONLY came by if Something was reported broken by my dad. Even when the guy came by he wouldn't go around the back or anything, (also, my dad didn't have anything to hide, but im just saying). My dad had an office in the back w/ a deadbolt and only himself had a key to it, so i would say you'd be fine with changing the locks to your grow rooms, but not to the front door, and if he does come in and question you.. just tell him its your office, and that there are important documents/ security camera recorders, etc... make something up. He shouldn't be snoopy unless the rest of the building is bare, and you have a room thats locked... that might make it odd.



One more,yet the only Question-
What are you going to do when your done renting the shop?

I just have one small idea about the exchanging of air from one room to another to conceal the temps...

How about you build a boxed in room around a window so its only big enough to fit in a portable air conditioner and also has your grow rooms heated exhaust coming into it. open the window only the slightest crack and run the a/c at full blast. keeping the room of a small SQ. Ft. would help you maintain a high BTU with your a/c but also let you cycle in fresh air so you don't create mold. maybe even some elaborate plastic tarp slide system to a rubbermaid tub to help collect any rain that gets in too

if your in a house you can just rig the air conditioner in the window to send your heat sigs out but with that barn idea i think a window air conditioner would be out of place.. so maybe this portal a/c with the open window and grow room heat comin it would do the trick.. this box room doesnt even need to be air tight from the rest of the garage it really just needs to be enough to condense the power of the BTU's so they can quickly lower the temps before they run out of the window

rollnfattys. when i'm done renting the shop i will tear/saws-all the rooms down. will not be leaving a trail.

there are no windows in the shop so the window AC is out of the question for now. temps are already getting down to 30's overnight here so i'm not worried about the temps. in the spring i will have to do something about getting AC in. other shops have cut out the shape of a window unit in the wall and mounted an AC unit, but for this i would prolly have to talk to the owner to confirm its ok.

Edit::: im also curious as to how much $$ your sinking into this... and are you using the building for ANYTHING other than growing?

i also just thought of something... to make that look like storage, you should of made it a bit wider than you needed, and sat those tubs all around it to make it look like you elevated it for out of the way storage. Idnk, just a helpful tip? i dnk. do what you want. I would.

this is going to be a growing op. growing as in get bigger as i grow. didn't have as much funds as i thought to dump in so we're going to harvest a couple times and put it all right back in.

final size is going to be 3 1000w hps stadium grow.

i didn't actually put the loft in the shop. that was there already. i built the box that big because i wanted to be sure to have enough room for my mothers and 40-50 clones that will root then get put into flower.

as for using it for other things yeah i'm going to have a quad, couple street bikes and a snowmobile in there... prolly some furniture. it will blend in much better when i get other stuff in there.... posters on the walls... dumb stuff to draw your attention off the "office"
