an apology of sorts

hmmm...I think I should apologize. Not for what I have said, but for how I say it. I seem to have gone from eff this and mofo that to full on fuck this and mother fucker (which, btw, are my fave words, to the point where I think I have a problem).

What can I say - I'm a hormonal b.i.t.c.h. - lol - and this damn medication they have me on is pure HELLLL!!!!

If anyone has any info on it - Topamax - please share. I have been in a nightmare for the past few months.

Anyway, will try and watch my profanity in which I am fluent ;)

In the immortal words of Emily Post ... fuck that shit. ;)

I just did a bit of reading on topiramate. I almost was taking it myself as a migraine prophylactic, but then the situation in my life that had me insured went away (by divorce). I don't see anything in the writeup to suggest a bad affective effect (!), nor do i have personal experience. Sorry. cn

Dude Topomax is weird stuff. I took it for a few days as a migraine preventative, and it made me feel like I was in an out of body experience. I had to stop that stuff.

I went with large doses of gabapentin. I had a bona fide psychedelic vision on it one night. It was awesome. I never was able to get back into there. cn

LMAO!!! Well....what can I say, I have anxiety issues lol.

As for the Topamax - pure hell. I am pissed at myself for agreeing to take the shit in the first place. Got damn doctors. Just trying to push what they're being paid to push. I guess I should have been my own advocate in the first place and done some research before taking it, but nope. Side effect of weight loss...hmmm. Okay I will take this one I thought. Hasn't done shit for the migraines, but I've lost damn near 30 lbs! Woo Hoo! Yeah, when your heart is going 100 + constantly, and you have no appetite, you'll lose weight.

My side effects with this shit are:

anxiety (it just intensified by like a million what I already have)
memory issues (no, not pot related lol)
cognitive issues like spelling and speaking
Hair loss
Bone pain (worse than normal)
muscle spasms (worse than normal)
shortness of breath
rapid heartbeat
chest pain
The last 3 had me going to my cardiologist because I thought I was having issues again. Nope. So then I do my own digging and find out it is this shit causing all my nightmare. But you can't just stop taking it or it can cause seizures. The damn doctor didn't even give me enough of the hell pills to last till the next appt. and no refills. wtf? And I can't even get a hold of him now.

Isn't it irresponsible of a neurologist, knowing of my medical history, and that I already have anxiety, heart palpitation, chest pain, and such, to even have prescribed this medication to me? Does anyone know? And then to tell me "Eh, it's safe, the most that will happen is you'll lose weight, and really, who couldn't stand to lose some weight?" wtf?

Excuse me bitch, you take this shit and lose your mind and tell me how safe it is. OH! sorry, wasn't gonna swear lol. Sorry for the rant, but I am losing my mind.

When I tore my disc early last year they put me on the gapapentin thinking there was accompanying nerve damage. That stuff, along with the heavy amounts of oxy and perc's I starting adding to my daily routine started the path to over 60 lbs lost. That stuff was nasty for me. A lot of people on pain sites say they've had similar experiences with it, along with a few other side effects that contribute to the weight loss.

Thanks sunnyboy. I did get the pharmacist to give me enough to take 1 pill a day until Monday. I was taking 50mg in morning and 50 at night. Since I was running so low and couldn't get a hold of the doc I had to cut back on my own, but then I ran out. So the PH gave me them. If I can't get in touch with the doc on Monday, I will go to ER. No choice. They are making notations of every time they fax the refill request to the doc, and i have a call history a mile long of trying to get a hold of him.

This list of side effects are exactly the reason I don't take medications. Usually. I would rather have a month long migraine, and I have been having them since I'm 7, than suffer side effects. Imitrex I can handle. I am beyond pissed at myself for taking this shit.

does dinking caffeine help? have you had a brain scan? I would be worrying about a tumor if i had too many problems with migraines.

Also, look into psilocybin mushrooms. maybe a VERY small dose here and there could help you. i've met some people that have found help with migraines from this. but could just be tripping ;)
