Would you consider buying a VERO after reading through some of the posts?

Seems that driving them at 1.05A ... the new take less power to run..but gives less efficiency at the same amps...a bit confusing way to market them....
By the way nacho is the short name for Ignacio in spanish..I think the nachos mexican food were named after the mexican guy that invented them..he was named Ignacio.:)
You got me craving some good ole' homemade nachos!!! (but I don't have the right materials to make such a masterpiece..)

You wanna know a secret about COBS? Not all run at the same voltage, hence why running COBS in parallel is forewarned among the LED elders. So actually it makes since that they pulled differing numbers between two different tests of two different COBS.

The new 5000 K 70 CRI gives 163 lumens per watt at 0,5 A... I wonder how many at 0.35...probably around 180...( :( edited later...175 at 0.3 mA probably)
Is it ok this CRI for vegging? If yes..I will buy someones tomorrow...

Going to get a bunch of the Vero13's in 4000k to balance it all out.

Should have my LSDpower drivers in soon too! Awesome timing Digi-key. :clap:

A new fixture in the making, huh?

I just wrapped up putting together my second prototype this past weekend; I just need to explore a few ascetic options and a make a couple of alterations and then I'll have a legitimate product.

Finally I found 2 options to run 3 vero 18 (new ones) at 300 mmA for a super efficiency mother/clon chamber
They will be pasive cooled by an oversized aluminium heatsink I have , that can cope with 60 watts of heat (I will run 30 watts of Veros..at very good efficiency...so 15 watts of heat or similar)

Second one: One driver per Cob....with two posibilities...

Think that for a dollar and a half the power factor of option A is the best..also the product looks better...

It comes down to your design. A bunch of people like just one driver for simplicity's sake, while accepting the risky possibility of the driver crashing, leaving plant(s) in darkness if no other lights are around. I wouldn't bother with option B as there are no descriptions of efficiency, with the other drivers you listed possessing efficacy's of 80% or more.

If it was me, I'd order x1 of the cheapo drivers and test it out to discover it's efficiency in comparison to the others.

Thanks for your answer, I will probably go for the one cob , one driver route...It will avoid high voltaje isssues also, althought 80 volts is not very risky and I have personal skin resistance to electrical shocks hehehehe:).
And also the issue of driver failure... which has happened to me a few times, and is a real problem when happens...
Running this new 18 veros at 300 mA will aprox need about 8,5 watts ..so if their efficiency is about 50% at this current...less than 5 watts of heat to disipate...I wonder if I can find in my electronic old computer garbage some Little heatsinks to passive cool each vero...so I can reserve the big bars for other projects:)

wait wait wait, the driver you posted above has a max VOLT of 36V, yet if i read the COB spreadsheet it says 36.8v(test), and again as you stated above that every COB is made a little different, i would want a little head room which is why SupraSPL recommended a driver that has a max of 38V for a little wiggle room.
What? He's running Vero 18's, not 29's.

I wouldn't advise running 29's above 2.1A. The 50W would be a nice fit for a 29 but these products are no-name and have no reputable credentials.
You are absolutely right, I bought a cheap open 100 watts driver like those...and in two weeks it started to do a disturbing sound... I were afraid to leave the place leaving that ticking bomb alone!!!

say no more my friend....i think i spend the extra money on a cen-100 and dim it down, the peace of mind is nice.

I have a small ~180 watt panel (4 Vero18, 1 Vero29) that needs to be consolidated down to one driver. The older versions of the chips, I think I have seen them called "1.2".

Soon to be added 2 'wings' of sorts that will hopefully add about ~280 watts using 4 Vero29 '2.0' :hump:

The build isn't quite show room quality yet but I have 6 plants, in a 3x3, that are a little over 3 weeks into flower under the 180 watt panel that are looking very nice :weed: My goal there is to get at least 4 ounces.

I think I will end up with 50 watts/sqf which will probably be over-kill with these COB's, but I want to utilize the tent as best I can, especially with the relatively small amount of heat these panels create.

Looking forward to having a successful grow to share with everyone!

Hi all, just I am a bit confused with the new vero 18 series.

The data shows it has an efficiency of 129 lumens per watt at the test conditions
If this is the new versión vero 18, same 4000 K 80 CRI that the other: http://www.digikey.es/product-detail/en/BXRC-40E4000-F-23/976-1271-ND/5180243
In this case efficiency is 126 lumens per watt..and it seems to run on less voltage...

Should not be more efficiency cause is a new versión?

I am missing something?.. maybe I didnt understand the data...

There's some confusion on the Digikey side.

V2 is slightly more efficient with the same forward voltage.

Hello to Spain. I love Spanish football and La Liga is the best.
