i have one similar to that one, it may only be five not sure but it honestly doesn't make that much noise. a small noise you can hear only a few feet away. i have it hooked up to my hydro controller timer so it only comes on when its feeding. have a 8'' disc and a 6'' bar in my res.

I use a few of the 110Litre per hour pumps http://www.hydropacific.com/active-aqua-air-pump-110l.html I also have one of the 70litre per hour pumps in my cloner http://www.hydropacific.com/active-aqua-air-pump-70l.html

They do work great, but one of my 110 litre pumps burnt out when I had it off over night and still hooked up. Even though it was above the water line it filled up with water, must have been some back pressure somewhere. I now use these on all of my air lines http://www.petco.com/product/7178/Lee-s-Check-Valve.aspx?CoreCat=FishFC_Air Pumps

Any recommend a good airpump for 1 18 gal DWC , 2-4 plants, probably 2-3 air stones. Prefer sub $30-40
18 Gallon Res? You should run 8 to 12, 6 inch airstones. Spend the money on the pump.

2 very important elements in this hobby.

Lights.

Air bubbles.

I run 10 of the 110 liter p/h and have 12 dual diaphragm, 4 outlet pumps, in backup. Just in case of failure.

2-4 plants in dwc means 4 to 8 lbs of budaliciousness with a scrog.

This is 3 plants scrogged. One plant per cooler.

Ive been wanting to do a DWC scrog, but can figure out how to clean the rez out with the plants being tied up in the net. Can you explain how you handle this?

When I put the girls into flower I do not clean the res until I harvest.

My coolers have crystal clear water throughout the grow. No yuckies.
You should be able to run the whole flower time without changing the res or cleaning it.
Only adding water and nutes.

What color is your water in the res?

I picked up the General Hydroponic pump, the Dual Diaphram one. It works pretty good and is also quiet. I only use it for four five gallon buckets, but is says it can run up to 12 waterfarms. Has 3psi and does 20L/min. I picked mine up on amazon.com for around 60 dollars. I was also looking at yours, but I couldn't find a review on it, and I read one on the GH pump and it said it was quiet so I decided to pick up that one. Also, I think there is a youtube video from growshow.org where they are using the pump you are looking at, heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEXW8wb7jeY

I have a small manual pump that i drain the res with, I change the res for flowering with it and it only takes a few minutes to complete. For larger res's i would get a powerhead and use that as a pump. connect the water line to the power head and plug it in, it will drain the water quickly.
