Aerogarden

I recently bought an Aerogarden because it seemed like the best way to get started, and I'm not looking to sell so I don't need to grow too much.
Naturally I've done a lot of research, and in doing so I've been seeing a lot of negative things about the Aerogarden.

Undeterred, I went to a nearby hydro shop to buy the General Hydroponics Flora series; the owner was very helpful, and told me that he thought I'd do well with the Aero, and has offered to help me along every step. I definitely didn't expect him to be that cool!

I already have a couple of plants; one is a fairly impressive chick that I had growing outside until a storm broke her stem. I brought her in, cut the stem and trimmed her leaves-stuck her in the Aero, and she's still alive. Fingers crossed...

Tomorrow I'm starting some Williams Wonder/60 day Wonder. The guy, we'll call him Mr McGrow, said he believes it will do very well!

Please share your Aero and related hydro stories and tips here, and if there's interest in this thread I'll keep you updated

transform it into DWC

four plants MAXIMUM, 3 or less is ideal. if you have 3-4 plants, youre gonna have to add water several times a day. under a 400W light the water would keep getting too hot, which resulted in a reservoir that was always full of mildew and pink mold. try to keep the least amount of water in it that you can. you dont want it anywhere near the grow sponges because it will 100% result in stem rot. if you get stem rot, youll have to treat it with diluted hydrogen peroxide on an almost daily basis.

General Hydroponics is actually very high in salt, so youll have to change the change the water out every 2 weeks. huge pain in the ass because you have to either install a drain or take the plants out and set them down while you rinse it out. you could try using a turkey baster, but if theres too many roots you wont be able to get to the bottom with it.

ive had pretty decent yields. i did 3 plants the first time and got 5 ounces

you will need to add some airstone into the aerogarden like the guy above has , i have personally grown 2 females in my aero and i wouldnt go 3 ..it would be such a pain to keep filling up the res every few hours lol, and the root balls get huge
