Aerogarden Round 3: Lowryder #2

pretty cool setup sticky.... it looks like your hoods are raised a bit you should completley lower them till the plants are about to touch the lights, you should get some more lights soon too...

Ok check it out....the middle one I think is a hermie....before I was leaning towards male because the only 2 pre-flowers that I could see appeared to be male and still kinda do....

This morning tho I noticed on one of the upper nodes 2 little female pre-flowers! I was excited but still worried that maybe its a hermie...the other plant still has no signs i'm starting to think that it is asexual or sothing? if there is even such a thing...prob not...I'll just give it more time...

But as far as the hermie goes I have a good question....

If a hermie pollinates itself will the seeds all definitley be hermies?

what if a straight male pollinates a hermie? Will it just be like 50% chance some seeds are hermie?

Tell me what you guys think...

Yeah, Hermie plants will produce hermie seeds. Chop all the hermie's or just pull off the pollen sacks and flower it. You want to stress a female plant to make it go hermie and then let it pollinate its self to produce fem seeds. I would wait a little longer to make sure it is a hermie before i chopped it. My large WW and ICE plants are 9" tall and have really thick stalks and really good node spacing.They are really starting to get a dank smell to them. I am just vegging in my AG Deluxe's with the T-5 CFL lighting. I am going to take clones off of them when they get to 24" and then flower the clones in my 2x2 ebb and flood tray with a 400W Super HPS in L Homebox using SOG. I should be able to fit about 18 clones in my tray. I had the the hoods raised to take the pics. Since i have taken those pics the plants have grown to that height in the pic and i have had to raise the hood back up. They are really growing like weeds..lol.

I guess i just get a little baked and forget... lol. I have been watching mine to try and sex them as well but i haven't been able to tell yet. Hopefully any day now. The suspense is killing me.

I think the one in the back left is a female! damn it took 23 days but whatever....It's my first LR2 grow ever so I'm learning their characteristics....

The middle one like I said may be a hermie...

and the other one (back right) is like hercules....so many balls and tremendous growth...

I'm wondering what I should do with the possible hermie....I have to inspect it closer and maybe give it some more time, before I truely know its a herm...

Heres a good question....

On a hermie.... at the nodes where it shows male pre-flowers, does this mean that the growth from that node will have male characteristics? I guess I'll find out with time, but was just curious...

Well, I just cut a bunch of fan leaves from the main stem on all my plants to allow for more light and energy to other areas of the plant....I've done this before on a previous grow with no major observable problems...

What do you guys think about this?

Yea I noticed that too...I think its because as a seedling I kinda ripped some of the skin off the stem...it seems to be doing ok and has since recovered pretty much...ya know? I mean the plant is doing fine...

Man....The weekends go by so slow...I find myself staring at them all through out the day and it seems like they're not growing...but I know they are...

It seems like it's taking forever for the other 2 to explode with female flowers....I can't wait till they do...but its only day 24 from seed so I guess theyre on track...maybe a little slower than other grows of LR2...

I wonder if the aerogarden or the foxfarm nutes has somthing to do with extending the Veg cycle for LR2 and maybe other plants...

Ok today marks 28 days from droping the seeds in....

I need a lot of advice from anyone that wants to give it...
This is what I'm thinking...

As you can see in the pics my LR2 male is fuckin hercules...I want to cut it down to size compared to the other plants because I want to get that lighting hood back down....now I'd have to chop it pretty good....I'm going to collect as much pollen as I can tonight before making my decision about cutting it down to size...

what do you think?

The other 2 are doing pretty awesome I think....Theyre starting to explode with white hairs...its about time

Anything more I think of I'll post later...here are the pics...

I may have just gotten enough pollen to satisfy my needs....Maybe like 10 male flowers i got pollen off of.....the rest i tried nothing came out just liquid...and they looked ready....I guess they gotta be pretty dry or somthing....well I picked some fat wet ones to let em dry....I wonder if they dry i'll be able to get the pollen???

I want to get this lighting hood back down real bad....and the only way is to cut this male a lot! who knows if it would survive? oh well I might not care....like I said I might have enough pollen....i'm sure it goes a long way...I maybe have enough to just cover the bottom of a film canister a few pollen grains deep....

It will be fun tomorrow morning....I gotta change the rez and add nutes...and decide what to do with Hercules, my male LR2...

Yeah , you want to dry the pollen sacks that you pick off of the plant before you use them.

I just bought the Aero garden and I am probably the biggest NOOB every. I read the Aero threads and I still have some questions hopefully someone can please help me......

so far I just planeted some Haze seeds and put the Bio domes on filled it up with Purifiied water and added 1 of the Nute tabs. I also wraped it in tinfoil around the bottom and all around the sides....

Here are my Q's

1)How do I monitor the timing I have it on "tomatoes"
and i set it up at 9:30est so what do i do?

2)I been reading that 24 hour strait light is good is this true, and when should I change the cycle?

3)What is the significance of PH testing and is it that necessary?

4)Is it a fire hazard if I ahve it in a closet wraped in Tin Foil next to Hanging Clothes?

damn, I really need to key help....

So I just chopped down hercules (the male)...it was kinda sad but better for the bunch....I popped off a bunch of pollen pods and I am going to let them dry and see if I can get some more pollen....

But I think I changed my mind on the whole seeding idea....at least for now....the reason is because....well...I can do it again another time...I have 7 more seeds left so I'm sure i'll at least get one more male...

I might end up with a few seeds tho, through accidental contamination.....If this happens, then I wont care....

Due to the chopping I actually moved the center plant into the right side where the male (herc) was, cause theres more light there....

I'm lucky the roots were not entangled bad, they were pretty easy to seperate, plus I'm resourcful and managed to do it no problem...

I'll post a pic of how it looks now, soon...

hey buds just got a aerogarden. first timer yes a virgin can someone lend a hand. what type of seeds should i use. lighting does this AG have enough or do i need to get more. thks guys!

before you start your grow set aside a few hours and READ just do a search for the aerogarden there is a ton of info, its bad mojo to hijack someones grow journal with questions not relating to there grow....... or just start a new thread with your questions, most of the AG pros are happy to offer help..... good luck
