Give it time. It will be at it's best in 30 days. Then you can judge. That's the problem with bagseed. You just have no idea of what to expect but they do keep you on your toes. Just some minor growing problems that have to be overcome.

I remember when I was in the Army, a guy I hung with said he sprinkled an ounce or "some" quantity (I forget) with some Boones Farm or some other great wine, and then buried it for a couple of weeks so it would mold. I remember thinking that was some really "extra" good herb. I didn't actually see him do it, but I think I remember seeing some small amts of mold on it. Does this make sense or is my memory shot????

Not unless the wine changes something. If you smoke mold once you won't smoke it twice. Back in college is the last time I experienced it. We didn't know sh** about taking care of the purchase. It was late, I was already "gone" for the evening, grab a little of my stash, packed a bowl and precceded to hack a lung for the next half hour. Small amount may not do it (it will just taste bad, bad) but at the time I thought it made it extra special so I packed heavy. I was wrong!

Thanks MC. This was back in 1975-76. I'm finding out that my mind has a way of "shaping" memories the older I get. LOL

Im in a 2 by 3 closet Im growing 1 nl-bigbud hybrid mediacal strain from world of seeds and 1 bagseed. The nl has 2 stalks each is about 3 1/2 feet and the bagseed has three main stalks and there all about 4 to 4 1/2 feet and they barely started budding so they will probably grow some more. Mine loked similar to yours when i started flowering. These are july 16th. a week or 2 into flowering. I also had some fungus gnat problems in my roots.

Thats pretty now! So Healthy lookin!

Hey guys, this thread has slowed way down. I have a question.

Has anyone every experienced poor tasting weeding after a grow? Whats the cause?

-Poor Genetics?
-Bad Grow?
I think it is sort of like...........well, the worst I ever tasted WAS Wonderful!

Someone told me once that when you choose to grow a bag seed you have no idea what pollinated it. Most of the time the grower was never intending to have it pollinated, and for all you know if could be pollinated by a wild hemp plant.

I'm starting to think think that I just had bad genetics?

MC, what could I have done that would have caused the minor growing problems? What causes loose (not dense buds) even when grown under a HPS? I'm leaning more to genetics of the strain I grew...

The only thing I can come up with, is that i might have veg'd to long, and hand to much of a canopy, which didn't allow enough light penetration?

Might have mistated that a bit. I tend to lump all issues with growing as minor because we are growing weeds and they will grow well if you give them half a chance. No such thing as vegging too long in my book. Vegging only determines size of plant and how much bud it can support. Vegging a long time's only problem is that the plant can get too big for the space since they grow about 2x veg height the first 2-3 weeks of flower. I also consentrate on the canopy because no matter what that is where your best buds will grow. Even HID lights can't get more than a foot under a normal canopy. That's why we use side lights to have the underbuds be all they can be. Genetics affect taste and smell more than anything a grower can do one way or another. Patience is required and that's about it at this point wil your bagseed buds. Hey, I'll bet you can grow a strain you like now! If you can manage bagseed with all it's unknowns the rest is easy.

So I was thinking to my self, maybe my loose buds where do to heat stress, as I started to run out of head room, at the end, they where within 10 inches of a 400 HPS..and or also could it be my cheap ass bulb that came with my setup from HTG?

maybe, that's why I always stick with the prooven, ceritified brands from the most reputable companies. Would never buy a cheapie bulb especially for something I take so serious. But hey some people are in a rush to get things going & have no time to save. good luck either way. pce

http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=HLRBHPS04&eq=&Tp= Compare those 2 bulbs, your obviously not going to get the same kind of performance from both.

Thanks for the reply MC.

So what I think to my self is, how to large growers dry there weed? It doesn't seem practical to dry all your weed for 30 days in a jar. I think to my self, is ever bag of weed i have bought been dried for 30 days after it was harvested?
I have seen pictures of large grows being dried on screens.

Also what gets me, is how many threads I have read where guys are talking about smoking some of the buds, or picking buds before for harvest. Wouldn't all of it taste like crap?

I guess I was just expecting more, the only reason I wanted to do a small grow was to have some really good, high quality buds to self medicate.
Commercial growers don't really cure their grow any longer than it takes to air dry the product, they just dry it, trim it, bag it and sell it. If I have a BIG grow, I cut each plant off at the bottom and hang the entire plant upside down in a cool, dark room and forget about them for about a month. With a small grow, I cut them off a branch at a time and trim off the fan and smaller leaves (hash material). Then, I hang them for 7-10 days, then into a paper grocery bag until the stems snap. THEN I trim and jar them for about 6 weeks, opening them once a day, every day, for about an hour. Otherwise, they will mildue and be ruined. Mildue will hurt you. Your smoke should be mellow, but it depends also on the strain. Some are just harsher than others, as you prolly know.

The light setup was a HTG kit, so it wasn't that I was rushing to get things going. If I could determine that the bulb ballast setup is at fault for causing loose buds, then i would replace them.

Its is the digital greenhouse ballast, the bulb is labled as a HTG brand @ 55,000 lumens. The MH bulb is an Argo-Max.

Thanks roseman, I just got a t-5 lighting fixture to sit above... ill post pics later. They are both getting really big but funny no signs of sex. Im just ready to see some bud allready but only 11 days into flowering..lol!!

I get a bunch of magazines, and catalogs, and they are all saying T-5s is the way to go now. Price compared to purchase, cost to "wattage used" and lumens produced from that use, and comparted to longevity, they are supposed to be the thing.

Just wanted to update with pics two weeks into flowering, thy are looking healthy for the most part, only typical leaves falling off here and thre. My sativa has been growing and growing, im trying to just move the lights around and angle the plant instead of cutting to much off. As for the indica (black domina) its actually getting much taller and bushier as well. Since the size of it I had to take a lot of different angle pics to give the best representation of how big it is... enjoy!!! let me know what you think.

I keep moving the lights around cause it seems like everyday one or two sections grows right into the light... im enjoying the freedom the t-5 is giving me since now i am not worried about the tops as much, i can focus on the sides with my remaining cfls. I even have that sativa tilted (i saw how roseman did it and i figured Id give it a try, thanx for the idea!! lol)

does the veg lights only support growth? I have all my lights on this flowering part.. the veg bulbs and the flowering bulbs.. if I only have a veg cfl on a main cola, will that just make it get bigger and bigger without flowering?
