I guess you could say that, after all Nixon was a Republican and is credited with really starting the war on drugs, then there is Reagan, who perpetuated it with the just say no campaign. Now you have Obama, who said he was not going to prosecute or go after the MJ smoker. But its business as usual ( BIG business) making all those crazy pot smokers go to prison for their victimless crime. Oh wait, Obama is not a republican!

Go look up Nixon and The [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Shafer Commission and see how this whole war on weed started, then look up Reagan and Bush's stance on marijuana and see how much money they pumped into going after pot smokers (you'll be shocked). While you're at it learn about Reagan and mandatory minimum sentencing and forfeiture laws.[/FONT]

Kennedy didn't have the hindsight we do today of the wreckage that the "great society" wreaked on this country. Now we know better....

Yeah, Nixon was a liar and a scumbag... not really breaking news. However, he did commission a study on the danger of marijuana to help further his agenda of eradicating it. When the results came back and disproved all of the negative effects they had been touting, he simply shitcanned it.

Reagan and the religious right were just as disingenuous on marijuana and certainly stepped the war on drugs up a few notches.

Carter flat out caved for his political survival. Exactly what we are seeing with Obama.

So basically, we end up with religious nuts trying to strike down our beloved plant, or we get liberals who won't jeopardize the rest of their agenda or their political future to end this farce.

Do you deny anything thats been said up to this point? MuyLocoNC was spot on; dems do not want to jeopardize their careers over this issue. Proud? Proud of what, that we have a president who leaves the scripting of the bill up to the Progressive radicals in the Senate, and then tries to sell us on it? Eleven hundred pages of undecipherable bull shit, and they expect the American people to just go along with it?

The way it looks now, the guy would make a really good Soviet leader. What we need is an Obama that espouses free market principles, lower taxes and individual responsibility.

Your logic here is so flawed. You must admit this if you have any semblance of intellectual integrity. The fact that the Nazis killed 6 million Jews clearly dominates German history from 1930 to 1945. You know this. Everyone knows this. Their past is not dictated by the fact that Hitler was a socialist. It was dictated by the fact that Hitler orchestrated genocide. The socialist leanings had NOTHING to do with the genocide. You ARE mixing up your causal logic. Hitler could have been a capitalist, a socialist, a libertarian, a democrat - it doesn't matter. The socialist plan was NOT a means to allow the murders either. There's NO connection. And you're trying to make an explicit connection between the two. In essence, you're clearly saying "socialism will lead us to the exact same history as Germany and we'll forever be known for killing Jews". Do you see how flawed this logic is? You must.

Been thought thru and before you show me your graphs and such remember you talking to a guy that has and still does travel... In other countrys where health care is available check the live expectancy vs USA. When you talk to people from other countrys who have health care they are very happy with it.... also do me a favor since you just love "numbers" tell me exactly how much it will cost hmmmm say for 5 years...then tell me how much the war in Iraq cost. If done right this health system will pay for itselfs.. Yes I say bring back the taxes before Bush ...I know you say no..don't worry you won't go broke ( or at least you shoudn't if you really got that dough ). Health care will pass and you will probably be alot healthy because of it ( since you don't have insurance ).
