You are by far not an idiot. What you are doing is educational. The reason is we are all told to do this and that to get good green. We are not told what will happen if we don't. This will show a new person the reason to use more light better soil and nutes. One can say all day you must do this to get a good crop. Not a soul will show you what happens if you don't. Its almost as if its embarrassing to show pictures of a bad grow.

We all want the biggest nuggets right? One pound yield on every plant. Wait I hear reality knocking. To know all sides of the grow makes you a better farmer. We all get that harvest that is small. Thats with doing everything right.

Who knows this could make a stronger healthier strain. Grown over and over by clone till you get an ok yield with all original factors in place.

That kind of clone would explode in the good stuff. We stress train our plants. Why not make a strain with stress training.

Getting success in this area could be very lucrative. Selling by clone only a real hard to kill strong growing plant.

The variables are endless. Pollinate this plant with others that do great things. This is how a new strain can be created.

Now my question is. Who wants a clone of a plant that grows like a mad dog that just broke its chain?
Think about it. Think about the future. Think about the past. How far we have come. Thinking eating a leaf will get you high. In the Cheech and Chonge movies it was funny. Well now its funny. Back then they believed that.

In order to make things better you must take a few steps back sometimes. Think about it! Don't just call an explorer stupid. Is that the kind of attitude that got us to the moon? Or even discovered that the world is not flat?
Take time to think!

THANK YOU!!! That is exactly my point.

The next time someone searches "grow weed in my yard dirt) instead of threads with ppl sayinh "no" there will be a thread showing WHY.

And yeah your right. If this is done enough times it is possible to breed a strain that can handle the stress

I get it, really I do.

I'd still suggest starting with compact fluorescents and give the plants a chance to be something before they wither. Anyone can grow spindly dead crap, give it some substance w initial energy from semi-decent light. Then let it all go to hell. Incandescents are way way too much of a handicap imo and nobody will ever use them so what's the point. there is such a thing as too weak of an experiment (lights) to visibly demonstrate a point well. don't make that mistake, imo.

You are welcome. I don't like dream smashers. Thats what everybody is try to do to you. If I had extra room I would make seeds or something. I can't afford the time. It is my medicine. Getting back on it is what I need.

The things I've learned from failed grows is worth its price in gold. Do I want to do them again no. I learned and advanced.

For your plant is it Sativa DOM or Indica DOM or a mix there of?

Im using bagseed that was given to me by a friend.

Thanks, this type of feedback is appreciated. I am considering cfl, but if i do use them it will be a very low watt cfl in addition tonthe 120watt Sylvania spotgro i currently have on the pot.

My other thought is weather i should 12 and 12 from seed, or allow a few weeks veg. I have also considered not using a specific schedual and messing withntje photoperiods as well.

My concern is that the longer i veg, the more likely they will not finish due to the conditions they will be subjected to.

You could get an LED that uses under 120 watts for $60. Like a Mars. They work fine for a couple of small plants.

Of course you will go 12/12 from seed. Or maybe after a couple of weeks/nodes. You will not have enough light or nutrients in the dirt to grow a significantly large producing plant. Consider some cheap Miracle grow bloom or other cheap fert. Minimalistic is one thing, but bare minimums are light and some type of balanced nutrients. So the plant will even live.

I am 100% NOT using nutes for this grow. The area i took the dirt from in my yard must have some nutes. Other plants have grown in my yard just fine. Maybe not enough for a plant to be healthy but im sure it will survive.

And LEDs are a no go as well.

At most these plants will get 45watts cfl along with the 120w spotgro.

I will tweak as needed to ensure they dont die.

Also i will not kill any males in this pot.

UPDATE:
I just checked to see if any seeds sprouted. The spotgro bulb was blown when i entered the room. I put a 23w cfl in the fixture for now. I guess ill have to get a new light.

Since the spotgro is gone, i will use cfls for the rest of the grow. I am trying to decide how many watts.

Well why don't you drop the seedlings in the dirt outside then. Let the soil sun and rain feed it naturally? Sheesh, at first I thought you might be doing something interesting. Now I think your just being stupid. <smh>

UNSUBBED for REALZ. Got betta schit to do wit my time. :hump:

But this grow is for SCIENCE! I'm sure botanists everywhere are curious to see what happens to a plant grown in weak light and no nutes. Strange no scientist has ever done a test of this nature before. LOL

Can't grow in my yard without being worried about getting caught, and i want to keep a close eye on em.
If i could drop em in my yard i would.

Anyway since the seeds haven't sprouted yet, im not to worried about the lighting. Tommarrow i will swap the light thats on it now for higher watt cfls. That bulb i stole out of my livingroom ceiling fan.

Im going to go and buy these in the morning.

I will use 2 of them and add more one at a time as needed to continue the experiment

Ok, now you might have an experiment on your hands. Look, I wasn't trying to be a dick on my 1st reply to you. It looks like you're actually taking some of my advice by using cfl's:clap:

Another thing, when they do sprout don't let all of them live in one container. Thin out the weakest ones and try to get it down to just one of the healthiest plants. It's always best to keep only one plant per pot, but it's gonna be really important for you because you're not using fertilizer. When you have multiple plants in one pot they fight for whatever available nutrients are in the soil. Since you're not going to feed, there's already gonna be a shortage of nutrients even for only one plant.

You're making my day with this shit, best thing about the thread.
Also, for the record Olivia Newton-John, will always be über hot.

shut up ya hat wearing asshole. ;)
I was talking shit to a sock puppet and that's what he told me. I couldn't even be mad at him anymore, I laughed so much.

Oh, and I'm the one that made Ole Critty's avatar for him

That was kinda my point to let them fight it out. Survival of the fittest lol

Keep in mind that the light will be only two bulbs. I don't wanna have a ton of pots under only 2 bulbs. Im aware many of these plants wont make it through, so i wanna have as many as possible under the lights.

I do acknowledge that the current amount of seeds in the pot will be too much if they all sprout. Depending on how many pop up i may split them up in 2-3 pots. Perhaps one of those pots will be with actual soil (normally i use a topsoil/peat moss/coco/perilite mix) as a "control" to see how much of a diffrence the soil makes with the same strain.

Again this is bagseed collected by a friend of mine. I know nothing about the genetics im working with.

You're a damn sadist is what you are, go back to Auschwitz, Dr. Mengele.

totally joking. I'm just feeling snarky again for no reason.

Your missing the point. Im cutting EVERY possible corner to study how a the plant reacts. This is more about showing how a plant handles severe stress. If my light is not sufficient enough to SUSTAINE LIFE i will switch.

The goal here is a live plant all the way through. To study the long term effects of lack of care.
Why?
