8 or 4?

okay so two things I wanted to ask,
One should I be running all 8 bulbs with her this young?
I wanna keep my bill as low as possible so I'd like to run 4,
Basically I wanna know if there would be any significant difference, let me know what y'all think.



And two how can I start a journal? Every time I try it gives me an error and say I do not have permission.

Your growth will be somewhat slower but she can go under 4. However the difference in the bill would be minor.

As to the journal ask Sunni or one of the other admins how to do it.

The bill start running when hps, cfl or them tubes is a low cost. And I'm pritty sure you can get them quite close to the plant.. But wait for an experienced t5 growers to say how close. And more light = more growth.

you can put that t5 like 4-6 away from the plant and only run four for now if you want. as long as no part of the little plant is shaded your golden. and that light is probably 432 watts when runnijg all 8? so running four at 216w/24 hours is gonna save you a few bucks on the power bill.

Totally agree. I do a 2 then 4 then all 8 arrangement as well. It kinda depends on how many plants you have and the spacing. Usually by then time I get to all 8 tubes its almost time for upcan and a move to the big stage. Big stage being the HID flower room.

And I was also wondering if I could do my whole grow with t5 for my first grow
And go hid next grow, once I have a little more change to drop on hid equipment
Would I need to buy different bulbs for flowering?
And on the box it said 1600k? I think

Are those 2 footers or 4 footers? Maybe 1 (possibly 2 plants) with the 2 footers and 2 (possibly 3 plants) with 4 footers. You can do the whole grow with T5s if you keep them really short. Might need a few auxiliary cfls to supplement side lighting. Many of the buds will be airy but you'll get a handful of nice ones. As far as spectrum, you really should have a set of grow tubes and flower tubes but if coin is sparse then just run it with what you have.

Not sure about the 1600k my cfls r 6400k(daylight bulbs their called at this spec)I would guess the 1600s r warm white so aimed at flowering.......but.....Yes they will suffice if that's all you have at the moment.........

I plan on scrogging so there would be a nice even canopy and hopefully get consistent bud density.
But also heat is an issue
So how much hotter will a hid be compared to my 8 t5's?
I only have once circulating fan in the back (I plan on getting one more when she's bigger)
I found a solution to the heat problem though, I just leave my tent doors open and let it blow the air out. even though it's not completely ideal, it really keeps it cool in there.

P.s.- I do have a small 4" fan that I had in one of the ports and it didn't make a difference at all... Would a 6" be any different?

Contrary to popular belief, I find those T5 fixtures run pretty hot. So I can see where heat is an issue for you in a tent if you don't have a decent inline 4/6/8" exhaust fan. You need to plan to get a hood that is inline with an exhaust fan for if your considering going to HID because they run much hotter then what you have now. Exhaust fan size depends on your lighting choice. More Watts=More Heat=Bigger Exhaust fan.

I have this 4" 120 v 60hz in my 2.5' x 2.5' x 5.11' tent

Im pretty sure thats a duct BOOSTER fan. I have an 8' one and it wasnt enough for my 600W HPS. I use a Hurricane Inline Fan/Phresh Carbon Filter and it works great at a decent price as well.

So what kind of fan do I need to bring air in and take air out

yeah it would be a 220 watt difference if you ran 4 instead of 8 but why would you run 8 if its that small? wtf

4 is plenty man. I veged out 1,000s of clones and I would put 27 clones in one gallon pots under a 4 foot 4 bulb t5

thats a garbage t5 if the bubs are 24 watts. should be 54 watts a bulb
