i had a friend who tried the leds and it turned out to be such a disappointment. how are your guys' led harvest going? my buddy got i think 10-20 grams of the fluffiest and airiest but per /plant on the UFO. he decided to go back to 600 watt hps and get 3-4 ounces per plant =/ however, that wasn't 700 watts i dont think.. lol
I got 178g of the dankest stickest rock hard buds from my last two plants harvested, and just put away 56g from a 3rd a few days ago.The 3rd was a smaller plant, same strain just different phenos I guess. I got 4 mor clones in flower now 2 under my LED's and 2 in my partners growroom under hps, and the LED's are twice as big and producing 3x the buds. I think the others are suffering from heat stress or somthing.

Just finished assembling the RDWC system, this is a 4site 8gallon bucket with 4 individual air stones and 5.5' lids. Still need to hook up a top-off reservoir. Here are some photos I took today, enjoy :leaf:

Hydro system looks real tight! Whats the R stand for before DWC?

Looks really legit though, I'm sure it'll work great!

That looks like a really easy setup once it's goin. Can't wait to see the results!

Under Current is the bomb.com I have seen results personally, DWC is awesome but, under current is impossible to beat. This will be good!

I have the prosource, CFLs. HIDs but the PROSOURCE overall is the best route {in my humble opinion} I went the dual arc route for a while but replacing bulbs, heat problems, venting issues, paranoia that the light mover would stop and fry the plants, we lost power during a couple storms and the power flipping on off screwed up one of the dual arcs. I like to foliar spray and spraying water around the HID's is not recommended {a little water on these hot ass bulbs is bad}... and lastly {I think the yield is reduced but with proper planning and strains you will grow more then you can smoke

WOWZERS that my friend is a UBER RIP OFF!!! THat is GRAND LARCENY TO THE MAXIMUS!!! LED production is super super cheap. I really hope you get some real ungodly results with that kind of money put in to it. Im subd for the grow journal! Good luck! FIRE IN DA HOLE!!!
 
When I look on different forums, I can see that there are more growers who are saying that LED lights are not as efficient and beneficial to plants. However, when I find different articles on the net, they say that LED are the next big thing for hydroponics growers. So I am a sort of confused here, are LED lights great for indoor plants? Any thoughts from those who have really used these fixtures? Thanks :)
 
The main problems I have seen with LED lights are this.

Marketing- Too many people believe what they read immediately. Led lights can provide more of the spectrum the plants actually use and need as opposed to bombarding them with a full spectrum light. Yeah that's true they can if they were made by a combined effort of botanist and lighting manufacturer. In which case I'm sure many are not.

If you are selling something you don't need to care about anything except selling it...It doesn't need to work. Some people care some people do not.

I have not yet had a great deal of time to invest researching LED lighting effeciency yet but I will be working to build my own since the price of 1w 50000 hour light emmiting diodes are purchasable with pennies in comparison to buying a 300-400 diode setup for the price of a NICE car.....

Another main concern I would have when purchasing a LED setup is that if each light in the fixture is just RED (650nm) and BLUE(450nm) waves then I forsee an immediate problem where are the RED(649nm) and BLUE(452nm) Waves coming from? OR since I am a human and with out a spectrometer I will see no difference between 460 NM and 450 NM lightwaves, they will look blue to me eitheway.

(Speculation) As a lighting manufacturer I may be able to produce lighting arrays much cheaper by only focusing on 2 wavelengths and then paying my marketting division to do it's job by claiming I use a better spectrum than competitors when clearly I do not.

(Fact) Thylakoids in chlorophyl are aggitated by more than just 2 specific wavelengths of light. There are also two(discovered) photosystems which carry on seperate processes one requiring <680nm and the other taking in 700nm wavelength light. Which means more energy production when shot with a range of light than just by a wavelength. Which is probably why HID lighting works the way it does, Yeah it shoots a shit ton of light at the plant that the plant doesn't care about it. But it isn't limiting the plant down to only 2 wavelengths of light that it needs or doesn't need for that mater depending on who you buy from.

I have read many many reports thusfar in the begining of my research to suggest that most people who have had bad LED lighting experiences are just victims of good marketing.
