I agree with you but we are not making the rules. I'll certainly abide by the rules but I think this rule is silly.
I thought this came up in a previous comp and was ruled Ok as long as the ballast/setup didn't change. It's not really different than someone using a switched LED panel and turning on reds later in the cycle - that one was allowed in past comps. We'll wait for the grand puba's decision though...

Then amend the rules. The bulb is the "light source"

  • Any Indoor light source allowed- no changing light sources once started (with the exception of a burnt out bulb).
  • IMO I would like it to be available to us. Got a new MH bulb to replace my old hps in flower tent, and run dual spectrum. Asked about it, never got a response
    1. if run dual spectrum can cup be moved between them in the same tent {ScroG gonna be growing around it till it finds it's place}

One final question on the following rule:
Any Indoor light source allowed- no changing light sources once started (with the exception of a burnt out bulb).

My intention was to use a single 600 Watt the entire grow but start off with a MH bulb, switch to HPS and then back to MH. It seems silly that this would be against the rules but I wanted to ask.
Start with a MH that's almost burnt out lol jk

And already I am pulling myself out of the contest... Stuck in some damn funk with seeds not wanting to get past tap roots... Its not all bad tho, means I can change out my lighting system sooner...
