Hello everybody! I am almost 2 weeks into the bloom cycle of my first grow. I am sharing because I have learned so much from everyone else's journals, and because it is something to do while I wait for these bad mothers to grow. Here are the facts:

EQUIPMENT
3ft x 3ft Silver Edition HydroHut
4x GH WaterFarms
VEG - Hydrofarm Commercial 2’ 8-Tube T5 System
BLOOM - Sunlight Supply Yield Master II Classic with 600W HPS bulb and 6 in Booster fan cooling
4in In-Line Duct Fan w/ “Phresh” Can 33 Carbon Filter on a Hydrofarm Fan Controller (Passive Intake)
(I also have a couple of 65W/300W equiv. CFL’s I am going to hang down for additional coverage once it get a little more crowded)

PRODUCT
2x Purple Kush Clones (8 in)
2x Trainwreck Clones (8 in, 6 in)
Technaflora Nutrients & Stimulants, going by their “Recipe For Success” but using slightly less PPMs than they recommend.

PICS
At the end of a veg cycle of 2 weeks:

After blooming for 12 days:

The rest are just miscellaneous shots, and one shot of some algae starting up in my Trainwreck 2. I was hoping for some advice on that (if it is something I should worry about or not.)

Thanks for taking the time to check out my grow! If I am screwing something up and you know it, tell me about it haha!

what's that blower standing in your room? whatever it is, you really gota move it away give the plants all the area and tie some branches make an even canopy expose these branches to the light, they look like they're shading one another, i like to air them give em most light possible

Thanks for the heads up. My other fan crapped out on me, so I am just using this one temporarily until I can get something decent to hang down. Additionally, it IS crowded as hell in there! This is my first grow, and I am planning on a separate vegging space for next time. I will either have a max of 2 or 3 in either chamber at any given time.

It's too bad there isn't more space because that vertical fan seems to be doing fantastic! It has completely transformed my branches. It hits all the parts of all 4 plants while not being so powerful it damages the plants or hinders growth.

I have drilled holes along the rim of my WaterFarms and have been tying stuff down to that. I am not sure how much more I will be able to do since my tall branches are pretty rock solid at this point. All in all, this grow is a learning experience!

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I will definitely make a new circulation solution my priority.

Thanks! I will have to check that out when you are up and running. If you are using waterfarms, I would recommend drilling holes around the top of the grow chamber. It's so convenient for tying down, I wish I had done that from the beginning. Maybe my plants wouldn't be so wild in terms of height. Thanks for the sub, and I can't wait to check out your setup!

dude these "transformed" stems are the early days of flowering, anyway, i'd totally remove it altogether and just go with exhaust until late in flowering and use dehumidifier if buds are thick... really don't miss that area in your room, no way it's so much more bud and light can easily cover it, get that thing out!:)

I will definitely need a dehumidifier (god damn expensive!) but it will probably help me tons during drying. Let's just say where I live, its raining constantly so probably needed one anyways. Thanks for helping me out sir!

ah yeah already better :) how far is that light away? you need to make an even canopy, is there a possibility to raise the smaller plant up and tie the tall branches of your bigger plants sideways where there's free space? you have to make use of that light now :)

I have been keeping the light about 12 inches away from the highest point, and it is diagonally skewed to make up for the shorter side. Good idea to prop up plants though, if anything just that micro one. I pulled it up for the purposes of photography in the pictures though! I have been LST'ing, but haven't been as much since flower. I will see what I can do to even her out. What is your opinion about harvesting the tops, and letting the buds below mature before chopping them? Do the buds mature at the same rate despite the size? Thanks again for your insight!

check the trichs, if you see that lower parts are not ripe yet, it is ok to chop the top and wait on the bottom

looking decent man. LST those big bad boys although it'll be tighter than a nun in there... Use that 600w'tr to push some serious weight, Ur running hydro. u gotta do it up proper to make the most out of the setup. u should be able to level out the canopy and get good penetration to the bottom.

shitty about the humidity, bc is a bitch.

tricky b.

Hey Fredtrick, thanks for the positive feedback and suggestions. It is gettin' MIGHTY crowded in there haha. My friend has been telling me from the beginning "Don't get greedy! DO NOT get greedy!" I think this is what he was talking about. In the future, I figure the 3x3 tent is perfect for 2 big plants, so I am going to get a separate vegging chamber and get some perpetual action going. At Zem's (thanks!) and now F.Blunt's suggestion, I used some objects to raise 3 of the plants, so the canopy is pretty even now:

I am LST'ing still, as much as I can, and I also picked up a 30 liter dehumidifier. That should help.

That little midget (which is actually trainwreck) was the runt of the clones, and I was surprised that it made it this far. It struggled early on with powdery mildew, and I was going to just bag it, but a buddy of mine said to stick with it and see what happens. I know I could clear up some space by kicking her out, but i'll say that I am keeping it so I can learn from it. I'm not into naming my plants, but I have been jokingly calling it Snooki. Maybe it will be funnier when it's covered in orange hairs. Thanks again for the feedback! I ran a few time lapses during the veg so I could see how they grow, but I am planning another for the flower that I will post. A day in the life off. I'd like to get a green light and do another lapse at night, as I have been noticing massive visible changes overnight. Talk to everyone soon!

The bud are really starting to take off. I set up my camera for a before/after for the night cycle I will post in the morning if it returns something interesting. I'm not sure what all I am looking at here, but it's exciting as fuck-e-o!

Alright, I picked up some Afi Crack tonight and I had some spare energy from the crack half, so visual update:

FLOWER, DAY 23
IMG_1832.jpgIMG_1833.jpg

Just put the fan in to pipe some dry air from my new dehumidifier (about 4 hours old.) I'm already at 55% down from 70% (88% at lights on this morning!) I'm hoping this makes some positive changes in the plants uptake. Also, my largest plant (PK) is someone lighter green than the rest. I was think about putting a couple of tsp grow in the res next time I add water. I wont though if people think it's unnecessary.

IMG_1858.jpgIMG_1843.jpgIMG_1854.jpgIMG_1856.jpgIMG_1855.jpgIMG_1838.jpgIMG_1846.jpgIMG_1850.jpgIMG_1834.jpgIMG_1848.jpgIMG_1836.jpgIMG_1857.jpgIMG_1839.jpgIMG_1859.jpgIMG_1849.jpgIMG_1851.jpgIMG_1837.jpgIMG_1847.jpgIMG_1853.jpgIMG_1835.jpg

Just looked through SCOTTYBALLS' WaterFarm Scrog journal. That was definately the way to go. I thought all my veg stage LST'ing was working wonders, but it's nothing compared to that even screen filled with buds. 30 main colas from one waterfarm!

Serapis also has a fucking GREAT WaterFarm Scrog journal. I didn't spend a lot of time on RIU before starting my first grow, but if I had, it would probably look exactly like this haha.

Alright, if a bloom update isn't tickling anyone's fancy, than I am going to have to get creative. I popped the rings on to my SLR so I could get up and close with these hairy green bastards from parts unknown! Trics and hairs, which kind of look a lot like roots:

Hey man, those look real good, although I would kill for the space you have -I would do 2 farms max in there with a scrog. You are doing real nice for your first grow and you are gona get some serious yield off that. I'll say it again though I have learned that with waterfarms less is more, my cab used to fit 5/6 soil plants in there now its struggling to fit one plant in there! and yeah next time scrog those babies- much more even spread and the nodes that would have been popcorn bud will turn into large budsites (not like a main cola on every one but impressive nonetheless!) sub +rep, looks damn good!

Hey ottermunky, thanks for the feedback! Definitely agree with you that 2 WaterFarms is ideal, although I will say it is fun with 4. It's packed in there! I can't wait to scrog next time. That nice, flat, even plane of buds looks unreal! I'm pretty happy with the way things are going considering it's my first time growing. Scrog seems like such a no brainer at this point, but before actually getting my feet wet, the concept was just way over my head. Thanks again for the sub & rep!

lol! I had the same fear of the scrog at first but after 1 grow i didnt look back! my scrog is actually quite shonky- it was built out of random bits of wood and plastic fencing but it does the job a treat lol! I think I still have a lot to learn about the organisation of the buds in my scrogs for a fully even spread but even if they arent that organised you still get a massive yield! I bet its well fun in your cab its a proper jungle in there! You should be happy with how its going - for a first time grow that is unbelievable! my first grow was shabby as fuck! (sorry scuse the language but it was!)
