Congratulations..........you just opened Pandora's box!:eyesmoke:..............

Yeah good luck making sure they don't run ferts/roots through their separate res.........hmmm keeping your ppms in check in a 5 gallon separate res or in a 4-5 oz res within the cup?==== I know which one I'd pick!lol

The experienced hydro guys are salivating at the mouth now............they know what you just did.:hump:
Nice fear mongering, psu.

TKO made a ruling, so let's carry on and stop beating a dead horse.

If you want to make the rules, win the comp...

Also nobody says that you have to vote for anyone. If you don't think hydro cups are fair, then don't vote for them. IMHO voting is more than than who grows the biggest plant. It's like a surfing contest, which means the surfer who rides the biggest wave doesn't get an automatic win. It should be about commitment, style, attitude, difficulty, shit like that needs to be added too. So really, if someone grows 14 grams of bud with a 20 gallon rez and someone grows 10 grams of purple in Miracle Grow and had to hand water twice a day, you're going to vote for the 14? Not me.

Wow. So much anger over a simple rule regarding roots inside the 16 oz cup. :)

It might be worth updating the first post to contain the latest and greatest of the rules for everyone as there's a few tossed in here and there over 30 pages so far.

As a hydro guy (primarily), I'll be interested to see what folks come up with on this one. I was planning on a single cup bubbler as one of my starter cups, after it was first discussed by kmog33 and FrozenChozen around page 3 or so. More just to satisfy my curiosity on if it could be done successfully or not. Given my experience with single bucket bubblers, I'll be curious to see how long before the roots push everything out the top of the cup. :)

I would have to agree though, anyone wanting to do hydro and use the 16 oz as basically the net pot hanging into their res, that's pretty clearly outside of the spirit of this contest. I would think that if you were to use a 2 inch net pot and hang it into your 16 oz cup, that would be in the spirit of this contest. And honestly, that's where I'm interested to see the hydro entries for this. I want to see how creative folks are using this size cup as the grow bucket.

I did see some thoughts above about auto watering. Is this an issue? The reason I ask is that I tend to travel for a week at a time and will usually just fill up a small bucket with water or nutes (depending on medium) and run it once or twice a day while I'm out through drip emitters. Just want to make sure that's ok before we begin otherwise I need to see what's planned for the next few months at work.

This shouldn't be an issue, although we'll soon see ;) I plan to setup something (drip system) for auto-watering for the same reasons, I had to go for 3 days towards the end of last comp and when I came back my cup/plant was bone dry, they need daily, sometimes multiple times/day watering towards the end.

I figure I got enough time to get something hydro built and dialed in before this gets off the ground.... and even if I can't or don't I'm sure i'll find a "kineboisin420" loop hole to save my ass!
Gotta find your "KB loophole" as you put it, before the comp starts, like me. Then its not really a "loophole", as its been pre-cleared before the comp even begins.

I am voting for innovation this round...I want to see what people can do. Dawg got me inspired with his "you're all boring as shit and I want to see out-of-the-box thinking" comment, before he started his tirade on my "out-of-the-box thinking" idea, which, even he has to admit, is pretty fucking cool!

This is all for fun, to test ourselves, give little projects to keep our brains going...lets see what you freaks can come up with, as long as you keep your roots fully contained, as per the rules.

I was just shit talking! You got a great idea, and a great chance of winning if all goes well... I got some "out of the box" thinking too, a few things that I want to try out... shit that'll keep my roots contained in a 16oz cup...
Trust me buddy I got no animosity against you! Your "ideas" don't scare me! I'm bringing 100% grade A "GODDAMN GREAT!" genetics. When you wake up to a flooded tent because that wooden train track piece fell out from underneath it, you'll get no sympathy from me!:P

So, all the petty shit aside
In the spirit of the competition, and in good fun, I wish everyone good luck and happy growing!

:arrow:YOU'RE ALL GONNA NEED IT!:hump:

Haha...its all good without the train track in there, I just had it in there when I was moving it to the new tent with water in the bottom res. There are relief drain holes on the other side of the tray anyway. :)

When we get into comp, I'll take more pictures of the setup, so everyone can check it out.
