Perhaps it is...I'm not familiar with the Soma style. I was inspired to come up with a fully contained bucket/cup hack idea using organic/hydroponic hybrid system, after reading up this old article on the CC: http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/1534.html

What kind of screen material do you suggest? I'm not looking to have the roots exit the cup for practical reasons, as if they did, the cups couldn't stand up in the tray, which would be a problem.

You could get a small piece of window screen from a hardware store that repairs screens,they make plastic and metal window screens.

As long as the roots and medium are inside the cup I'm good, only advantage I see is if the res were being used to let the roots extend beyond the bottom of the cup. Most will have holes in the bottom of the cup for drainage so smallish holes won't be any significant advantage...

After a closer look I can see nothing that violates rules only what seems to go against

I Belive My 1st cutting Took Place At Week 4 However I Did Find Out The More You Cut Them The Faster They Grow Back.So With In 5-7 days My Lower Res Would Be Full Again

I don't think attempting this gives me any legs up. Nor is it cheating. I think it's putting me at a disadvantage, and I should be able to fall flat on my face, as long as I follow the rules.

Maybe hot glue that screen on the bottom on the outside of the cup so everyone can see the roots can't grow out.

Kind of like a chastity belt.
