Nice, Ya 48" plants would be beastly! Long veg time though. This is what I got going on, had some issues during Veg so I flipped them before they were as big as I wanted but I'm still confident I'll get a decent yield.

I think it was you that led me to Kushman style pruning already, it work hey? I'll be trying that, good tip on the pliers. When do you do it? One thing I did which I think will be good for vert style is taking the lower branches that are reaching closest to the lights and snap and bend them down. Keeps them from getting too close the the light and allows light to penetrate the interior and far side of the plant if it is on the edge of the room only getting one side of light.
I'll not only crush one little spot but lightly crush an inch or more so I can bend a branch and make it stay where I want it, so that when it heals it heals to where I wanted it. I'll get some pics up of where I've done this and how it healed.

have you thought of bonzai approche to breaking branches with wraped wire? With enough wraps semi tight you would support enough to not need extra support. Also ive read that if you break the wrong direction, hor/vert, you can harm rather than help.
I've grown real Bonsai before .... I gave up after I made the pot and trimmed the roots and wired them in place...lol I was like fuck this!! haha It's serious commitment... and lots of tedious work.

Ha, no doubt on the less plants. This is a cakewalk for me now as I had a 250 plant SOG grow before this, taking 300 clones and watering 250 2 gal pots brutal!

You start Kushman pruning right after clones hey, good info bud, I just did a few to try it out on my little ones, makes me nervous to go pinching such young plants but I'm sure it does good. They're young enough that I can pinch with just my fingers. I twisted a stem as well in two spots up the main stem, it toppled over so I staked it. Is that common or did I just twist too hard? It was a pretty soft new stalk so I'm guess more woody stalks would hold better. Does each branch just get one twist or pinch near the base or do you do it multiple times at different stages of growth? I would rather do some pinching early then have to deal with caging and tying up branches for sure.

Ya those are 600's, This is only my second run with the vertical 600's and my last run was an embarrassment so I don't really have a realistic figure to give ya. I went with 600's cause I figure I can get the plants closer to the lights and get better coverage than with 1000w therefore fit more plants. Seen guys get some impressive yields with 600's. As for strains the plants in the foreground are King Kush, they got destroyed by mites early in life and I'm just impressed they survived witch is why they are smaller. Most of the room is F-Bomb, I got them as clones and have no idea where or what lineage the plant has, can't find anything online so I figure either the name got messed up like a too baked grower version of telephone or its a locally bred strain, who knows. I would guess it's got something to do with THC bomb.

Check out the branching on this Critical, no pruning or anthing.
I'll twist the same branch several times, in different spots. usually one twist/pinch every two days or every other day depending how severe it was, and thats per branch. I'll twist multiple branches on the same plant in one day. I also lollipop to an extent. and if I twisted it soo much that it toppled over I give it some rest, & stake it, if you can see it's guts or big cracks. No worries it will recover. sometimes if I really over did it & can see that it's only hangin on by a strand I'll just man up and cut it and learn from my mistake.... sometimes I learn ..lol After seeing Heath Robinsons vert with a single 600 and pulling 42 oz... I shit my pants and learned size it doesn't really matter 600 vs 1000 it's how you use it..... "thats what she said" haha

Ya some pics of how you do the kushman pinching would be awesome, so you basically end up pinching or twisting the whole branch and stem if your doing it every couple days hey? Is that right or you pinching the same spot? These sativa strains I got going now are so leggy and growing so fast I'm not worried about slowing them down a little in veg for some extra sturdyness later to hold up they heavy as shit buds.

Gots that right on size doesn't matter its how you use it! ha. I've personally seen some so ridiculous g's per watt with 600's you wouldn't believe me. Stadium SOG style with vertical lighting but I'm beginning to think that excessive lighting is about as overblown as excessive nutrient regimes. Keep a happy healthy plant in a great growing environment and you'll grow some beastly bud!

To all who read this.....

how do you all feel about the dark period before harvest? Any info on hands on experience with it only. What did it improve, did it mature more quickly? more resin?, quantity, quality? How many days/ hours dark? Water during not at all just before.... what?
If I have time I try to do at-least 36hrs of dark before harvest. I feel like the effects depend on what strain you are growing. The WW and AK showed a more cloudy trichome then the the ones we harvested immediately. We would flush for 2-3 days then soak it with clearx and let them sit for atleast 36hrs with no more water during the dark period.I dont notice any faster maturation or resin or quantity but I would say the quality is better.

Updates will be coming soon, my who buddy owns this grow in Colorado, is in Summit County this whole week skiing. He didn't send me any pics before he left. But I'll be there this next week. He has harvest photos. I guess he had to chop earlier than expected. They had to move everything because the building sold.... fuckin bummer. But good news is he will be adding four more lights... worse part about it is.... the people who bought the building are going to be running a cooperative medical grow themselves. So he had to take his plants out only so more plants can go in, in place of his....."IRONY" Look it up in the dictionary and you will find this post.

More air to moisture than soil, and more air in chips than fine coco coir. Like hydroponics with out pumps, chillers & headaches.

Great looking garden. I've been considering trying to get to a medical state, and if I do larger plants seems to be the way to go.

I'll also add that I'm not some new grower trying to strike it rich. I personally think all those types are giving the rest of us a bad name. These young college kid business professionals that don't care about the patients aren't going to be growing for the right reasons. I'm certain it will be obvious from their crops too.

Just make sure to pick a state with a good climate. Hopefully in my lifetime they will all be medical states.

Good climate is a big part of why I wanted to go to CO, I also figured it wouldn't be as over run with existing businesses since it hasn't been medical as long as Cali. Also now with the new legislation, I would think there should be all kinds of new job opportunities developing.

I've been having a very hard time finding anywhere to rent that isn't over 900-1000 a month which I can't pay. I want to buy a house, but gotta finish getting my credit straight to do that. One way or another I wont to get out there before everyone else does. I may be coming to CO in for 4/20 come a few days early, and look for housees, and then enjoy the festivities.
