400w hps & mh vs 600w hps

I am several weeks from setting up closet grow. I have done shit loads of research. This is technically my first indoor grow but i have helped several friends grow, and had several successful outdoor grows. My closet is a decent height (6feet) and is 13 feet squared (2.5 x 5.3) or so. I plan on growing between 9- 15 plants in this space.

What is my best lighting options. At first i was thinking a 600 watt hps on a track mover, but i was told I would achieve better results from 2 400 watts one hps and mh because you get a full light spectrum.
Any suggestions or feedback would be extremely helpful.
One last note i was planning on purchasing my setup from http://www.marylandhydroponics.com/
Im assuming this is a legit and trustworthy site, unless anybody has a better or cheaper site?

well with the number of plants i would opt for the 2 400watt lights in that area, but you have to remember to vent that heat out of there. htg supply on ebay isnt to bad of a place to get stuff from. got my kit in 6 days in perfect condition.

Ya actually i was originally gonna order from htg supply because their prices are low as hell but they dont ship internationally, only to the US.
Anybody else know Cheap trustworthy sites to order light setups from?
One more thing i was wondering should i do a 600watt that can use MH and HPS on a light mover? MH for veg and HPS for flowering?
Or is it more effective to have a 400w MH and HPS going at the same time?

you would have less heat from the one 600w on the light rail, but i think u would do better with two 400w at the same time
if your able to vent the heat out i would go with 400 watters, and as far as a good site to order from EBAY i got a 400w mh
hps switchable ballest panda film thermometer and vortex exhaust fan for like 300 bucks hope it helps man

i think 2 400`s are better. When plants are smaller u can get by with only one fixture. u can buy light fixtures that will run hps or mh.

Unless I was going to deviate greatly from what you were talking about I would pick a single 600-watt and use a dual-arc bulb that half puts out MH light and the other half puts out HPS light so you are running both spectrums all the time. I would skip the light mover. You have 13 square feet to cover, total, and it is shaped 2’ 5" by 5’ 3", right? A single 600-watt will give you a 6’ by 6’ footprint, 36 square feet of light. Your widest space is 5’ 3" so you have an additional 9" of light there at the depths. You may lose some light to shade on the very outer edges in places but with good reflective material I don't think it would be much considering the light you would be putting out.

Then again I might consider a dual 400-watt CoolTube, a 48" model most likely, and run MH for veg and HPS for flower though at 48" that might likely spread the bulbs out farther apart than I would like. Maybe two separate 400-watt CoolTubes would be the way to go. But either way I would have to consider it. That gives you roughly 5’ of penetration, good for 4’ of it anyway, and you won’t have more than 5’ to use and likely less.

Tough choice to make.
