400 HPS for Seedlings?

I have 7 plants total in party cups. They are 7 day old with 1 set of true leaves. I have a 26watt daylight cfl for each of them but wondering should I cut all the bullshit and flip the switch to my 400 watter..

thats exactly what i did. and im still waiting for signs of sex. its been 14 days. go for it

i normally wait about a week in my starter box .. i use 12 oz solo cups and the roots are allways at the bottom of the cups at a week .. then i go to my bigger pots and 400 watter ..

Can I get some more info on this please other then someone with 6 posts.

Nobody thinks a 400HPS will fuck up my seedlings..Lol im going to be mad if I do this and they burn because no one offered me their help.

what does posts have to do with anything .. its common sense .. does the sun hurt seedlings use your brain man ... if you are not a moron and dont have your light to close you will be fine .. just because i dont play on the internet all day doesnt mean i cant grow .. take the advice or dont ..

Hey dude its all good.
Im using a 400watt an my babies are like 1 week
4 days old..An its goin ok. Just keep it 2 ft away,
then lower it a lil till you think it'll hurt the plants.
I had it 2 ft then i lowered to a ft or so, just put ur
hand above ur seedling, if its not to hot ur good.
Also try n have a fan (at least 1) blowing on ur light to
keep it cool. Good luck bro

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Heat issue. I killed all my seedlings with too much head. I had a 250 watt MH. Part of the problem, I had them in a tool shed late summer and it got very hot. The heat will kill seedlings. So, if you hang the 400 watt high and you keep the temps down, you should be okay. Just watch out for the heat. I learned the hard way.

Budda_Luva - Im so glad you said that bro... I JUST Took out 5 26 watt cfls, but left one inside.

I HAVE A COOL-TUBE SURROUNDING MY 400WATT HPS I GOT FROM HTG

I just put the hps inside..gave my babies a watering in their 16oz cups.. well c how she does.. Check out the pics

Temps are 81F
3' away from seedlings WITH the cooltube..

Just keep an eye out for heat stress

nah man dont even worry bout heat stress my seedling were in temps that got to 95 and still did juss a good as it would in regular temps n lower that bitch man u got a couul tube let them feel the intensity of that light u got

I just lowered my cool-tube from 3 feet to 2 feet. Im going to leave it on them all night and see how they look in the morning.

Temps are 83/84F
Humidity is low <40

I want to lower it some more but am going to wait til they develop their second set of leaves

I use a 600w HPS light from day one and have no problems. Just make sure you keep it at least 36" from the tops of your plants for the first 2-3 weeks, and keep an eye on the temp at the canopy, keeping it under 80F.

Try to get the temp down under 80F or you may have slow growth. You said "low" humidity... what does that mean? Humidity should be between 35-45%.
