Seriously you will not regret a 315 CMH. It may not fill a 4 x 4 but it is more than enough for me even with edibles. The sunplix look great but I trip over heat when i turn on a 200 watt vero cob with the 315 CMH. I am trying to draw the least amps with the grow and the 315 alone with filters fans etc is about as low as I would go (total amperage is 4.5 amps with my present setup).
I could run it on a 10 amp circuit (It is on a 15 atm)

I really think a 315 CMH in a 3 x 3 tent is perfection. As long as the heat of the tent is managable. If not you are better off with a timber fixture. Where I live the cost of running a portable AC unit is not worth it. It also adds considerably to the amperage draw on the circuit. Many exceed the wattage of your light.
Do you live in Canada? I am in BC, growlights canada seems to be the best. did you get the cheapest 315w kit there? the one with a horizontal bulb? this is the link https://www.growlights.ca/growlights/315w-cmh-ceramic-metal-halide-kit.html I am trying to figure out if there is an honest difference between vertical bulbs vs horozontal. the specs cant be very different

Hi !
Could you tell us about your lights? We manufacture different low frequency, square wave ballasts and grow lights. The ballasts are built in Fuzzy Logic technology and can double the bulb lifetime.
How are you getting that full spectrum in this pic provided on your site? View attachment 4079513Also, the spectral charts above in your post? Are those 31k & 41k? We offer different CCT CMH bulbs. Please see attached SPD files.
Is there a difference in the spectrum the DE has from the bulb? Yes, there are basically 3 types of DE bulbs: 3k, 3k+R and 4k.
What's the lamp efficiency when on full power? About 1.9 umole/s/w
Do you have PPFD mapping charts available to share yet? We have simulation of light spread. Please see the attached files.
Some say they like the footprint in the vertical bulbs better then horizontal, what's your opinion on that? Vertical (deep) reflector is not good because light inside bounces many times and loses some of light energy and the lost energy is converted to heat.
Are you using Pholips bulbs & are there CMH bulbs available in different spectrums or maybe different companies have varrying 31 & 41k's that are a bit different then the next? Like a 5k would be sweet if they made it seeing how it's the closest to the sun. Yes, we offer Philips 315W CMH bulbs, 3100K and 4200K.
Does each fixture come w/ a dimmer or is it only IR dimmers? We have different fixtures, please visit our website www.sunplix.com.
I'd like to have one in my room, do Par mapping followed by a grow w/ it. I'm sure the growers/members here would like to see what your lights can do as far as output data & growing a nice wide single plant. Maxing out both the light & plants potential & ability.
It's nice to see data coming from an unbiased grower & results to follow.

Attached is a photo from one of our customers in Canada. In his 4x4 tent, he installed one SunPlix 400W dimming CMH fixture which outputs different power: 400W, 350W, 315W, 210W and 150W. He didn't use AC, only a tower fan. His Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/great_white_bud/

Thnx for the detailed response. Now what makes FuzzyLogic better then a SunSystems lec square wave ballast?
Philipscbulbs last a year using a good square wave. Does this mean yours will last almost 2 yrs before 15% degragation sets in?
Has any of your customers tried the full spectrum 4k DE for a grow?
Is a 400 version basically a 315 bulb turned up higher? If so, what would that bring the unit efficiency to?

All of other CMH ballasts utilize constant power technology. We know that P=U*I. After a bulb is used for a long time, the lamp voltage (U) will go up. To keep P constant, the ballast must output less current (I). Finally this process will lead to very small current that is not enough to keep a bulb on. I believe many growers met this problem before.
Our ballast utilizes advanced Fuzzy Logic technology. The ballast monitors changes inside bulb and prevents lamp voltage from rising too fast. With our ballast, bulb lifetime can be doubled at least.
Our DE 3k bulb has been used. 4k is our new product, has not been used yet.

We'll see how things go w/ this harvest. If it all works out, I'm considering getting one of your fixtures to see how it does against some premium LEDs & a 1000hps.
The 630 DE requires 2' min. ? What footprint would one have @ that height?

your rigs look great, shipping to canada could be a bitch though
Are your prices in US dollars?
is there any benefit to dimming a CMH light?
We ship from USA. Shipping cost is OK. We shipped many orders to Canada.
Yes, price is in US dollars.
Three benefits: 1. No need to lift and lower lights. 2. Save energy. 3. Shift light color.

So no 630DE for me. Didn't think so. I have a hard enough time having 2' clearance w/ a slim fixture.
Maybe the BatWing Double 315.
So are the 400's really 400's or just 315's turned up?
Would the 400's be @ 1.9 too?
Two options: 1. 315W CMH bulb boosted to 400W. 2. 400W CMH bulb.
Yes.

how come you don't build a unit where the bulb is vertical?
Because vertical hood is too deep, light inside has to bounce several times before it comes out. The bounce causes light energy loss. The lost energy is converted to heat.
Our reflector is designed specifically for T12 315W CMH bulb. It is very shallow and light comes out from it with 1-2 bounces so few light energy is lost, less heat is given off. Most heat from bulb comes out upwards from the venting gap on top our reflector so the light can be installed closed to plants.09302017-6.jpg 315W CMH reflector-5.jpg 315W CMH reflector-3.jpg 315W CMH reflector-4.jpg CMH-315R Simulation 900x900.jpg

Lol, fuzzy logic, aptly named "feature"........tell us what your sensing through a lamp cord again? Cmh arc degrades per fire , like all hid bulbs. Idk how your doubling lumen maintenance, I smell something...

I'm not getting into reflector design, but cycloptics tech vert one tested highest of all (Utah state)? . Remember still over half the bulb is getting losses with hort positioning, plus 3< output loss and spec shift vers vert==Elite agro run optimally in vertical positioning, ask Phillips., Ask nate at growers house which 315 w ballast/ bulb combo tests highest again and again.

Run it vert bare bulb if you're an efficiency whore & deal with the pita room setup; )

My vertical 315s with a philips 3100k bulb measures higher par readings than my horizontally positioned 630w true double ended 3000k cmh from growers choice @ equal distances. The 315 covers 3x3
So double the wattage use yet lower par readings than the vertcal 315s.. In all honesty, no bias, the only conclusion I can draw there is the significant difference in vert vs horiz.
