2010: hottest year ever despite solar activity at record low

what, none of the skeptics who replied to my 'climategate=FAIL' saying that the sun has everything to do with climate change want to respond?

Especially when you consider that if humans ceased to exist today, it would take 1000 years for the temps to decrease 1 degree F if everything else stayed the same. If the sun ceased to exist the temps would fall to 60 below zero in a couple of days and literrally overnight all life on earth would become extinct. My point? The sun has more to do with global warmth than all the people ever will.
what did i say wrong

dude ice melt due to sesonal weather
ice melts
ice forms
if you say ice is not suposed to melt
then it is like saying cave men during the ice age had factories and cars
well this last decade the earth got cooler, so right there that puts your argument of it gettin hotter and hotter to rest.
I can find links that support a cooling Earth just as easy...
Major Volcano eruptions have been known to put more co2 into the air then we humans.

Current sampling shows the earth has been on a cooling trend in the last few decades.

I would be much more worried about the solar storms we are going to see very soon then the earths temperature fluctuations.
why do they find animals frozen for 1000's of years in the snow and ice?

global cooling.

it happens.
did anybody happen to mention 09/10 was one of the coldest winters ever recorded in history GLOBALLY? guess what, its summer again....gonna be hazy hot an humid accross the planets northern hemishpere.....

Its interesting to see that the coldest and least populated places on earth are warming up some, while the rest of the world is near average. What the hell kind of pollutants are the Canadians and Santa Clause creating anyway?

And what will you say if next year all of a sudden becomes the coldest year in the last 131?

And what proof is there that its caused by humans?

notify me if that happens.

and what make syou think that the pollutants stay in the area in which they are created?

Will do.

What makes you think that all pollutants are attracted to Canada like a Duck to Water? Does Canada have a Huge heat and pollution magnet somewhere?

i don't think such silliness.

the fact that the u.s. appears to be immune from the higher temps in 1998 and 2010 is likely explained by el nino. because temps tend to be cooler in the u.s. during el nino, whereas they tend to be higher during la nina years, like 2005. they provide an el nino vs. la nina chart, take a look and tell me if you agree.

as far as the heat near the poles, *yawn*. the poles have seasonal ozone. thus they get more and more hotter when they get hotter, and more and more cooler when they get cooler. just like how your soil has a hotter internal temperature at the last 100 degree day of a heat wave than it does at the first 100 degree day of the heat wave. the lows in the winter are marginally warmer, and the highs in the summer are marginally hotter. thus, the overall average, which is what you see represented in the pretty pictures, is overall hotter.

but it goes beyond that....the hots are hotter AND the cools are cooler. climate change is always happening, but not this rapidly. the line on the graph is getting steeper IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. it is not really human caused climate change, which is a stupid term because the climate ALWAYS chnages....it is more like human caused climate instability.

its all about the pole shift....you'll see.
or it could just be normal cycles, we're still quite young in this information age.

You mean the hottest year ever since they started to record the temps. How long do you think that is?
The earth is billions of years old. Humanity hasn't even been here for 10 seconds.
your assertion 100% true. in the history of mankind, we have hit mucher higher points on the y-axis if you are only charting the average temps.

not only that, i will also assert that (almost) nothing humans can do to the earth, including nuclear apocalypse, will injure the earth itself beyond the point of recovery. the earth always recovers (historically).

us humans occupy and depend on a very (extremely) specific niche to survive as we do. even the most minor shift in either direction will cause economic (at least) and humanatarian (conceivably) disaster. the shift is suddenly happening at an extremely accelerated rate, possibly (and statistically likely) due to activities of humans.

the cause of all this seems to be clear (scientifically)...and moving towards sustainable energies as fast as possible is the right thing to do anyway (economically and politically). should we go full speed ahead towards the possible iceberg, or try to avoid it, even if it might not be an iceberg?

This makes the most sense and I can certainly agree that we should be trying to go with renewable resources (I use solar panels ..PV), but the assertion that climate change is due only to human use of fossil fuels is somewhat absurd, even you yourself have said that El Nino and La Nina have much to do with our local climate. There is NO WAY they can prove that humans are the cause, therefore the whole cap and trade debacle is utter nonsense.

anybody still want to assert that it is all just sun spots?

for you climate change skeptics, perhaps this will help comfort you:hug:
I dont think anyone is claiming the climate is not changing. Geological records and other data show it is always changing.

The debate is how much is man affecting it.

Do you know if we do everything the scientists say and throw trillions of dollars at the problem the scientists admit that over 50 years it will result in a tenth of a degree change in the temperature of the planet. That is less than statistically significant.

Yeah, can you imagine what an Ice age will do to us? You know, like the one the scientist were screaming was going to happen in the 70's? Do I need to go dig up some of that hype for you to review?

An ice age will eliminate the cities, towns and farmland of much of the northern hemisphere. There will be mass starvation, flight to the south which will become massively overcrowded. There is direct proof this is going to happen and sooner rather than later if you actually study the true geological record. But hey, why dont we just keep trying to speed that up eh?

and in the winter all the climate change fanatics were still spouting about the record lows pointing to global warming

now its summer, it gets hot, and its global warming againnnn

some how...

hello, i see you are completely uninformed. welcome.

as you can see in the OP, whatever people are saying, 2010 is so far the HOTTEST recorded year, despite a record dip in solar irradiance.

do you understand that global warmig and climate change are just different terms for the same phenomenon? you could also call it anthropogenic climate instability if you really want to get nit picky....global warming will do for me though. i know what we are talking about.

we are talking about the line changing very quickly, in exactly the opposite direction we would expect it to be moving, and what this would mean to humans and our habitats/ecosystems/environments.

thanks for proving my point.

the climate is always changing, and in the 70's a very few people were predicting a cooling off of things based on the data showing that we should be entering that type of a cycle.

but guess what happened? instead of things cooling off, they started getting hotter. and recently, almost exponentially so.

so what we have here is rapid warming at a time when we should be seeing gradual cooling....so what gives?

i know what 99% of the smartest people on the subject are saying.

the goal is not to cool ourselves back off, the goal is to stabilize the climate, instead of doing everything we can to assure rapid climate change (destabilization) like we are currently doing.

while im all for caring what happens people like us dont really have much we can do, and ranting at each other doesent help much. its too bad that if the gov could SELL our lifeline they would do it for a buck, well i guess they can and are. you get what i mean tho, $$ will rule till its that "oh shit" moment
