20 Ton Rosin

mostly squishing fresh frozen nugg runs.....
The reason I ask is 20 ton/24 sq in. = 1,666 # per square inch. I am building a 6 ton press with 3" x 4" plates and will be squishing 2 x 3 or 6 sq in. for 2,000 # per square inch. If you are doing a smaller SQ IN the numbers change rapidly.

I Tried screwing around with a curling iron but I am not happy with the lack of control or the results. So I have decided to build a 6 ton rosin press for personal use. I am waiting the arrival of the heating elements to complete the project. I am also waiting until the last minute to buy the 6 ton press since stuff is always going on sale at Harbor Freight. I might get a better price than the 20% off coupon? I have done all of the machining on the plates accept the holes for the heating elements. I want to wait until I have them in hand and can measure them for a good fit. Here is the parts list:

I will post some pictures when I start to assemble this.

In my mind this unit is top notch. Seems to incorporate all the 20 ton floor standing press larger size will do with a smaller foot print. Yes it's pricey but well built imo.
Plus portable. Heavy though.

I also like the insulated Stainless plates...no bending those babies. i have thinner aluminium plates bend...cheap junk. They were too thin in the first place. So aluminum can be good if it's thick enough.

Here are some pictures of my progress. The heaters are nowhere in site; coming from Hong Kong.

The ram head is from Etsystudio.com and will disperse the force more evenly without damaging the plate:

Here is how to wire the PIDs:

@doublejj Are you keepin it secret or you just have not logged on yet?
some strains work better than others....some strains just come out wet. let them sit out for a day or 2 & they will butter up or dry up....The freezer is a dehydrator so the buds get a little dry in the freezer. also it helps to dry ice extract the trichs from the buds first & just squish the fresh frozen trichs.. good luck

Thanks @doublejj

I will be experimenting with all forms of product. I don't like to smoke. I quit tobacco 47 years ago and smoking anything is offensive. The homemade extracts I have tried to vape are just not up to par compared to commercial CO2 extractions. I am hoping to change that with Rosin mixed with a little EJMix. I have a boatload of Moby Dick CBD that is about 25% THC and 20% CBD based on Cannalytic testing. This stuff is great for my back pain but not handy on the go.

Hey @The Dawg

How well is that press working for you? How many grams are you pressing at once? Any pointers you can give me?

Still waiting on my heat cartridges.
Brother randydj Omfg I Just realized That Your A Horney Dj:hump: Lmao. I Love My Little 6 Ton with Her 3x5 Plates. Im Squishing 2 Grams And I Get A Return Of 25% Or .5 Grams. I Really Like 235 Degrees For 45-60 Seconds For Flower. Now I Keep Getting Blowouts When I Try To Run My Bubble. The Bags Isnt Getting Ripped But I Do Get A Lump Of Unmelted Bubble On The Outside Of Said Bag And I'm Doing 2 Grams Squish's With the Bubble Also :weed:

Dried And Cured Flower Taste Best Imho. Kicking My Bubble Making Equipment To Da Curb.

Also Did Some More Bubble Runs Last Night With The 90 Micron Bag Not Ideal For Bubble But I Was Flipping Higher Than Giraffe Pussy When I Purchased Them And Its What I Have. Start Out With Minimal Pressure For A Few Seconds I Like 5 Then 1 Pump Wait Another 5 then The Last Pump And Wah Lah No Bubble Push Outs. I Used 215 degrees For 10-15 Seconds Produces Decent Amounts Of Tasty Rosin But Not As Tasty As Dried And Cured Flower. I Also Do 3 Short Presses Per Bag bongsmilie

Dawg what do you mean by "I Also Do 3 short Presses Per Bag"?
I Load A Bag With About 1.5 Grams Or So Didn't Measure Exactly Just Made Sure That The Bubble Hash Was Away From The Seam. Then I Do 3-4 Squash's Per Loaded Bag At 215 Degrees For About 10-15 Seconds. I Squashed 3 Bags OF Bubble And Below Is What I Got Back. Again Didn't Weight It Out Not Really Worried About Weight Just Color And Quality For Meself :weed:

Well I Created A Monster. A Buddy was Over While I Was Squishing And Ask How Much For The Press I Told Him 400.00 Would Buy It. Well Today He Dropped Off 200.00 As A Down Payment And I Promptly Bought A New Press And I'm Going To Outfit It With 4x7 Plates With Dual Heating Elements :hump:
