I can't remember which thread I found this on, but if you leave the roots from any plants chopped in the tote it can effect the water in an adverse way. There is some kind of chemical that you can add that deals with it. But I cannot remember what that is either. I gotta stop reading this forum when stoned so I can remember this stuff.

Hey greenhog if you can find the forum or the chemical to fix this problem that would be totally appreciated. I had really thought about this being a problem because I left the roots of my forbidden fruit male in the resevoir with the rest of my girls and had a feeling it might not be good, but its pretty hard to removed the roots from the giant rootwad at the bottom of my res now! This could definitely be responsible for the yellowing problem and I will take care to look into this when I go to buy new nutrients later this week as well, thanks for the advice man!

dude. dont trip man. when the plants are in flowering it uses the nutrients in the fan leafs. witch causes them to turn yellow and die. but your fine man. eveyrthing looks good to me if there budding=D hope you dont stress to much about this. just keep on doing what your doing. everything will be fine.

Okay well thats good to know, it just looks a lot worse on the moms weed plant I guess, I am getting some $ soon and am excited to maybe try some new nutrients out with these girls and see if it makes a difference, I will leave mom be and keep going as I am, though I would still like to know about leaving the dead roots in the resevoir because that part still seems like it could be an issue to me. Anyone have experience with this?

Already looking at foxfarm and gonna try a couple other out as well, plus getting a digi ph meter so I can take better care of the rez. Any other suggested companies people have used for DWC nutrients or stealth hydro let me know!

FLOWERING Update:

Day 51

So this is the weekly update, 1 day late mind you as always.

Forbidden fruit is doing really well as always, the sites seem to get bulkier by the week. I was changing out the nutrients yesterday and caught a whiff of her finally without my carbon filter and boy did I get a smack in the face of blueberry and fruit scent, she smells so sweet :-). I also was able to catch a whiff of mystery weed twins who has almost a stawberry skunky smell coming off of them, but not quite as apparent as the forbiddens fruits smell since the bud sites are still smaller.

(Important Update:) Mom's weed was chopped early this week and removed for her horrible growth. About 3 days ago I came into the room to find some of her branches dying and all together with how the last month of stealth hydro nutrients has gone I just felt she was better off gone, she wasn't going to contribute much anyways.

Nutrient Update:
Updated nutrients from stealth hydro company nutrients to foxfarm 6 pack, and dropped the ph strips for a Digital PH/EC/TDS meter.

Out with the old!

In with the new!

And without further adieu! The bud pics you all have been waiting to see, including the final pics of moms weed chopped down.

I did a light change today, earlier on since it was cooler when I started I had the light schedule set to start at 6 am and go off at 6 pm so the room would naturally warm and cool a couple degrees during the day and night to simulate a more realistic environment. Either way the weather is heating up now and I decided to switch it backwards so they can stay cool all day because now the days are getting a bit warm for them and I am worried so am changing them over. I heard doing this shouldn't be a problem but anyone have any thoughts? I left the light off an extra 12 hours after last night and am switching the light schedule in a half hour so it goes on at nights now, sound like a good idea?

Sorry for the delay. Hygrozyme, pricey at 500 bucks for 20 liters but you use 8ml per dose or something like that. Google it and it will take you to their web site. Seems like it is a must have for hydro. Completely compatible with any nutes and h2o2. This stuff eats up decaying plant matter.

Sounds like I am in the clear, I have a small bottle of hygrozyme I bought at the hydro store early in the grow for $20 "suggested by the seller" and have been using it since mid-through the flowering stage so I'm glad I had it and didn't even realize I was fixing the problem! You can get their stuff at hygrozyme.com!

How much do you expect to yield for the six cup kit? I'm thinking about getting two kits to get 12 but your grow looks like to be more what Im looking for.

Also why did you put three seeds in each rockwool? Thanks for the help. Im just trying to get the maximum yield for each kit. Any suggestions?

When I started out I was such a grow noob I looked at the instructions the company had an example for doing cilantro in rockwool and had placed multiple seeds in one piece of rockwool. At the time I thought this was ingenius and would be able to fit tons more plants and later realized I made a grow noob mistake and wasted a bunch of seeds cuz not all the plants could fit under the light and some outgrew others. How much do I expect to yield of the 6 cup kit? Do you mean when its full? I have no idea really on an expectation of yield on my 3 existing plants as of now. I am hoping for a couple ounces hopefully off the forbidden fruint and even more since I have 2 plants of the mystery. Right now I do have 2 plants growing out of one single cube which are the mystery weed plants and both have grown almost conistently the same and have been near the same size the entire time. The problem with this is that they both being next to eachother in the same cube take up eachothers light, I had to train them both with mini-bungee cords to get them into their own light. The only advantage of me putting extra seeds in was a process of elimination where I was able to cut out all the slow growers and keep all my strongest growing genetics as the main plants in the cubes. By the end of the first month I had cut the plants down to one in each cube except the mystery weed that I kept two in because they were both so big. If you are thinking about getting a stealth hydro kit like this you need to space out your pods a bit more for the plants, you should really make it yourself. You should start your first grow with a couple plants, its hard to concentrate on a ton your first time, its much easier to be able to tame 3-4 plants. If you want maximum yield its all about genetics in my opinion, find the best kind of strain for your grow area, and your own tastes and you'll be set!

FLOWERING Update:

Day 63

This week forbidden fruit is the main feature as she is my big budder and the mystery weed plants are just taking their time, I will be doing another feature for mystery weed as the twin plants of her go. This week forbidden fruit has been getting really bulky really fast and I think a lot is due to the change of nutrients which seems to be doing a lot to help both of the plants after all the yellowing that happened on the stealth hydro nutrients. The forbidden fruit never yellowed that bad in the first place, my mystery weed is worse for wares. The pistils have started going orange and the stems are so bulky I had to tie them up with string to support the bud weight now, I think she is ready for harvest in about a week to two weeks. My problem now is that I want to do a flush but have all 3 plants in the same resevoir with the roots entangled and am trying to figure out if I can do some small flush like getting some clean R/O water and I had heard about clearex, taking out the nutrients, running the R/O water for 1-2 days to let the forbidden fruit clean up a bit and then harvesting (would this work?). I know you "can" just go to the end feeding a plant nutrients but I've heard its better to flush, what solutions do I have here? Mystery weed wont be done for at least another month and I can't leave forbidden fruit in there that long. Suggestions?

Enjoy this weeks bud pics!

Thanks, I am thinking about harvesting her really soon, am still wondering about how to do an early flush with her in the same resevoir as the other plants, anyone?

depends on how much earlier u wanna harvest... you could flush once, pull the fruit. feed the other one and then flush that one when its time to go...but that will only work if your harvesting schedules allow enough time for that
