well, been reading on water curing and think thats what I will do this weekend with the Iced G, coupla reasons being 1) I dont care what the smoke is like as generally we vape and Im lookn at tinctures also, I figure a week in the water will get rid of most of the nasty green stuff, then Ill probably dry it and soak it in everclear(95% alky) for green dragon, though I expect the "green" part to be less so due to the water cure.
The only part Im wondering about is our old friend decarboxylization(sp?)...
should I heat treat the dried (after water cured) weed to 106C for a while before I put it in the alcohol? this should change the THCV to THCA right? or does the alcohol accomplish this also? anyone?

PS: water cure is also supposed to be good for killing the smell, which, heretical as it may seem, I dont particularly care about, all I care about is effects , not whether its pleasant to partake of it, someday when its legal, well, thatd be a different story

Ooh, Green Dragon is some nice stuff! Reduce it into a tincture and it goes with anything. Heck, you could even put an eye-dropper-full on a sandwich or in a cup of soup! You're going to want to grind it up very fine and decarboxylate in the oven. The recipe I've used before is Master Wu's Definitive Green Dragon. Good luck :). Sorry to hear about the mold, but I'm sure your GD will turn out great.

thanks! The reason Im going wih an alcohol treatment as opposed to glycerin/butter is that you can concentrate it once in alcohol form, or more easily dilute it for that matter. I threw one big bud in a jar last night, weighted it down, plan on taking it out after 3 days, though 7 is the usual, saw a guy measure the PPM of a water cure and the first 3 days were when most of the action took place, though I put it in the jar fresh from the plant so maybe take a little longer?

I'm guessing that dropping a fresh bud into the water will delay the process since plants are pretty hardy, up to a point... I expect the plant to keep on "growing" or at least metabolizing for a few more hours before it starts decomposing? thats not the right word is it?

found a teeny bit of mold on the coletrain main cola so thats it, everything is getting chopped this weekend. Chopped the main cola of the coletrain, trimmed it up, about 3.5 oz wet, trimmed, dropped it in a jar of water. The IcedG in water, I changed the water after 24 hours... no noticable discoloration of the water, Im guessing fresh bud continues metabolizing/living for a while after being cut and placed in the water... I wonder if I dry it for a little while in front of a fan before putting it in water if that will hasten the leaching of the chlorophyll? kind of like if you want flowers to last you cut a new bottom off so water can be sucked back into the plant and if you dont the flower wilts really fast? of course in that case the flowers can still transpire into the air...

ps:no visible trichomes lost in the first water change, being pretty delicate with them now

heres what the IcedG looked like before chopIcedG.jpg
heres what the rootball looked like, this waqs a 2 gal laundry basket from the dollar store lined with one layer of landscape fabric... as you can see, no root circling...that thing is solid root, its hard to even get a finger in there just one solid root system
here it is:IcedG_oot.jpg in that pic I took off the landscape fabric(nothing on the outside of the fabric) , heres one where i cut a few inches off the root ball side... just solid root mass. This setup worked for about 4 total months... definitrly not root bound and not circling... looks just like any of the commercial variationsIcedG_root1.jpg

now... heres the finals... trimmed IcedG:IcedG_trimmed.jpg weight wet = 250 grams, a plate of trim has another 50 grams
heres the coletrain, 300 grams wet plus 50 grams popcorn

I should dpoint out for those keeping score that the main cola of the Coletrain is water curing right now, was 3.5oz so about a 100 grams so coletrain was total (including popcorn for hash) 450 grams wet so could be 3 oz dried?

probably around the same for the IcedG, considering the total above (250 plus 50) doesnt include the main cola plus at least 2 sizable buds I picked early, add in the easy ryder and the bagseed and when all is said and done I feel confident in saying that I got at least 6-8 oz from my first grow... made a number of mistakes but thats what first grows are for :)

the main cola of the Coletrain is water curing along with a bud from the IcedG, started wednesday, today was the first day the water smelled to high heavenwhen I changed it... all the bud from today is in a 5 gal bucket water curing itself
