perfect! here goes. homer371's cannabutter recipe (lol), designed for trimmings and/or vape left-overs :)

what you'll need:
- small or medium size pot
- cheese cloth (can use an old but *clean* t-shirt or sock, but cheese cloth is ideal)
- tupperware or bowl
- rubber band
- 1 stick of butter
- 5 grams of dried trim (3 days in a paper bag after harvest should be enough)
- 1-2 cups of water

important ratio to keep in mind
- 25:1 butter to trim (weight)
- i usually use 1 stick of butter (about 100 grams) for 4 or 5 grams of trim. scale up or down depending on what you got.

STEPS:

0.
grind the herb if you can. don't worry if you can't.

1. put the butter and water in the cup and heat on medium until butter melts. the water will keep butter from burning. alternatively you can use a double boiler or a crock pot, but adding water works just fine for me.

3. when the mixture starts boiling, turn heat to simmer (lowest possible setting) and add the ground trim.

4. simmer unconvered for AT LEAST 1 hour, ideally 2-4. it helps to stir every 10 minutes or so. keep the vent on! this will definitely stink up your kitchen, and possibly your whole house...

Important: if the mixture reduces too much (in other words, if a lot of the water evaporates), ADD MORE WATER.
Very important to not let the butter burn.

5. let cool for about 5-10 minutes

6. fold a large piece of cheese in two, cover the tupperware, and secure with rubber band.
very slowly pour the greenish liquid + trim through the cheese cloth into the tupperware. carefully wrap the cheese cloth around the the trim that didn't go through and slowly squeeze and turn until every drop has gone inside the tupperware. get rid of the extra trim (definitely do not put it in with the rest of the butter).

7. put a lid on the tupperware and put in fridge overnight. it'll usually take about 6-10 hours for the excess water to separate from the butter. once it's cool, you can just remove the green butter from the top, clean it up, discard the nasty water, and store it in a bag for up to a month.

you can use it in any butter recipe -- just don't burn it. you can use it in a brownie mix or just spread it on toast!

to give you an idea of potency, i find: 1 gram of trim = 1 fairly strong dose. so i get 4-5 doses with 1 stick of butter. this depends on the quality of the trim, and a million other factors, but that is ball park.

good luck, let me know if it works out for you!
I know this is old but thanks for the post, i'm gonna need it in 90 days or so haha! thanks again

yeah, nice and smooth and energetic and uplifting. it's awesome. i'm treating it like a delicacy... using sparingly, so it'll last me longer!

hey dudes,

although i'm enjoying an excellent sour diesel buzz at the moment, here's some pics of what's left of my purple diesel. she was always the prettier plant, both alive and in bud form. been curing in a jar about 8 weeks, still about 7 grams left, somehow...

the aroma gets more and more intoxicating as the months go by. wow, i'll be honest, i thought people were talking somewhat out of their ass when they say to go for a 4 or 6 month cure if you can, but now that i've compared 0 weeks, to 2 weeks, to 8 weeks, i'm a believer. when i open this jar and take a deep whiff, it's like i landed face first in a field of blossoming purple diesels... whatever that means. never been much of a poet.

purple diesel:

p.s. sour diesel is also curing nicely. the buds seriously smell like gasoline, with a skunk after-smell. not the most inviting aroma, but the high is soaring. still working through that jar, nice and easy :blsmoke:

peace

thanks micro. yeah, totally recommend the curing. of course, i sampled little bits as the days and weeks went by, which is actually the best way to compare the smell/taste/potency as time goes by.

wonderful apearance
thanks T@ll, much appreciated.

happy new years to you all.

i feel like i'm threadjacking my own thread with these sour d toke reports but man, it is one awesome, uplifting high. not jittery like some other sativas i've had, also not as focused as some sativas (something i like), but very bright and happy making. it only takes a little 0.2 gram joint to get me there. if you guys ever get a chance to grow a sour diesel plant (mine was a clone from a santa cruz dispensary, don't know the specific lineage), i highly recommend it. it's still crazy to me that i grew my own 1/2 ounce of it, which is now down to about 1/4 ounce now... work makes me a light toker :/ anywho, i forget what i was saying, but the main point is, fuck yeah.

p.s. i don't like changing my avatar but i think sour diesel looked better in her prime than in her strangely sideways facing turd-like but dank looking cured bud form:

tribute to my sour diesel. she was a stinky bitch.
