1500 watt HPS

Any other people out there using a light this big?? Should i start a 1500 club? haha.

came across the light for free its a street lamp and I'm in the midst of getting it ready for the grow room. I got some seedlings growin an they aren't going to know what to do when this 1500 gets in there.

More light the better is what every single person in the entire forum preaches.. plants live off of sunlight and this little light isnt competing with the sun. its just a matter of ventilation.

lmfao. well atm i am growing in a closet and i know this thats not an option anymore. Im going to devote a room to it now. Im single and not in my home town, so i dont have many friends. and i live in a 2 br. So i guess the extra room will be a grow room now. Scary leap from a closet but hey i cant just let this light go to waste.

how does it hook up?, i mean most outlets are only 110v right? I know older homes have like a 220 for dryers and such as my dad has a 220 hook up in his basement

haha... google this and you will see the debate. 110 and 120 are in fact the same.. Any home in the US has 110-120 flowing through it, it fluctuates. Its a old school debate as to wether people call it 110 or 120... My fathers been an electrician for 20 years and he hates when people bring it up because they are in fact the same. Now in europe they all use 220-240 (same debate) which is smart because 240 is way more efficient.

and the guy i got it from grew weed like 10 years ago and he has it wired up to plug straight into the wall =].

i will be posting a grow journal within the next few days. Also would you happen to know a spacing measurement for this hunk of light? im thinking like 4-5 feet

As far as electricity cost, just look at the bright side - at least you won't have to run any heating this winter if you vent it to your living areas. :-P

built in ballast. =[.. its a street lamp remember.

im considering just buying some 12g wire, ripping this sucker open and remote mounting the ballast somewhere..

No, that IS what im going to do.
