12x9 how much lights

I have 3k in a room the same size. All air cooled and 8" Raptor hoods, so lighting from corner to corner is easy. They all have an ecoplus (aqarium/light) fan that runs at 700+cfm. each fan is less than $100 new. I have two portable acs in the room to easily control temps, and even in summer with both acs off it only gets up to 84f! I like to keep the temp pegged at 74.
 
two 400wats does not equal a 1000w .......... 40,000 lumens + 40,000 lumens = 80,000 lumens and a 1000w is 140,000 lumens so that means that you are wrong and they do not equal the same..... there amps are not he same eather.....
inverse sqaure law must be wrong to then eh? a 1000 watt light has to be double the distance than two 400's ..
for every foot you raise a light you dramiticly decrease lumens..INVERSE SQUARE LAW>>get over it..
quit trying to disprove mathmatics silly.
 
I keep my 1000w 12-16 inchs from the canopy not 2 feet or more....... Further more 600w is more efficient then a 400w this is old news man .... 600w is most lumens per wat..... My 600w is a little under 5amps and my 400w is a little under 4amps so they are almost same amps but the 600w gets 50,000 more lumens so id rather add an extra amp or two and gain more then double the lumens.... This is common sense here
your 400's suck then my only draw 1.8 amps each! you clearly calculate only for yourself and your equipment..try thinking outside the box homie.
12-16 inches is a big difference..wich is it 12" or 16" why the variable distance? sounds like bs to me. and a 1000 watt light from either 12" or 16" looses oh about 25% of its lumens by the time it reaches the plants..you dont know inverse square law and its very obvious.
also 1 1000 watt looses lumens dramaticly towards the edge of its coverage area..were 2 x 400's give you two = light sources that can be put an equal distance apart from each other and a complete even bed of light aross the table from end to end. save a but ton of power and easier to cool..600's by lumen gen #'s only, yes are the most efficient lumen per watt light on the market..but thats only taking in one factor..lumen per watt..what about power cost? bulb cost? cooling? canopy level? ballast cost ? etc..400 wins every time when you actually factor in true efficiency across the board.

i have 2 1000's, 3 600's, 4 400's , a 250 , a t5 high output 4 foot 6 bulb..125 watt hydrofarm cfl, two light house ufo led's @ 90w each(made in usa)
ive compaired each over and over, and from the results..a combination of 4 x 400's and the leds does wonderfull ..great spectrum and light pen.
in a 10x10..light from wall to wall..
my crystal production has been the same if not more since i added the leds for extra spectrum, and my power bill dropped about 50-60 bucks a month right off the top.
my temps became even easier to control and dropped overall about 2-3 degrees.
my yields and product were even match no matter what size bulbs and ballast i use..
and it all started many years ago with a compair grow of 1 1000w vs 2 400's..
i saved power there to, easier to cool, and got the same exact product wieght and potency except the 400's did better near the wall edges than one 1000watter did..
all the buds were nice and uniform across the canopy as well, were as the 1 1000 watt..the highest biggest buds were of course center, under the light and got smaller in size the further away it got..
two light sources closer to your plantz vs one from further away..
its really a simple concept to grasp..its actually a way to counter the inverse sqaure law that costs your thousand watter lumens from the center out.

i also am perpetual, so my control is always correct..same mom, same clones/strain grown, same veg time etc.
genetics have more to do with every living plant or person than the light .
for example..short , tall, big and small were all born under the same sun(light)
think about it.
its the genetics..like querkle from tga..once you get it to its breaking point your yields will be the same everytime given the same setup is used/methods/etc..
not many folks take the time to grow the same strain for 10 years straight either.
 
if this is so then why does evrybody waste the extra money to go 1000w, especially when that obviously creates more heat issues using the 1000w??

to bad LUMENS is what people see and really doesn't mean anything for a plant, plants use and see par.

you are just resiting what you read in the Joerge Civ. books.... the light dosent need to be that far from the plants if its air cooled. Thats just what he says in his books dosent make it true Hes teaching newbs so hes giving them advice that is helpful EX: better to keep the light away then burn your plants but im not a newb i can figure out how far to put my light from the plants based how hot it is not based on what hes says.......like i said i keep my 1000w 12-16 INCHS from the plants.........

the variable distance depends on ambient temps what stage of growth im in...... Do i measure and keep a log of how many inchs i keep my hood from the light from day to day?? NO dont be a duche... i can clearly see that my light is 12-16 inchs did i run in and measure it before i made the post?? NO i didnt

in most of my rooms i can literally put my hoods onto the plants if i wanted to but the light gets too intense close up the ideal distance is 18" from canopy to top. i can hold my hand on my glass all day long and there is no heat. 400s are great lights i am doing a bunch of tests with a CMH 400w in my test room right now, but for yield a 1000 will always yield heavier

You can believe whatever you want if that makes you feel better.

But a 1000w light bulb is going to consume 1kW and that is what you are paying for.

You are correct it will reduce your amps by half. :clap:
your assumption that running 240V will consume half as much electricity is false.
If this were true, your plants would be getting half as much light.

Ohms law: Watts = Volts x Amps

Amps is reduced by half.
Volts is doubled
Watts stays the same.

You pay for Watts not amps or volts.

+Rep for you sir you are correct........My pops is an electrical enginer and we had this same converation and what you said is exactly what he said almost word for word......... 240 does NOT cut bll in half...... only amps. :( i wish it did cut bill in half cause everyone would be switching to 240 if it did........

People would be coming into the hydro store requesting 400watss...... but they dont...... All our club venders use eather the sun or 600w/1000w bulbs.... All the customers at the hydro ask me for 1000w bulbs...

Thats like saying LEDs are better then HPS, if that was really the case there would be LEDS stacked up in peramids on the showroom floor but no we have 1000w's and 600w's stacked up on the floor because thats what people want and why do they want it?? You would say there sheep and dont know better....... But id say they do know better and they are steppin it up to do it right...

hahaha seriously man sometimes they say such off the wall shit i dont know what to say lol i know this kid OBSESSED with LED's saying they are so great, sure great idea but they cost too damn much man for the price of one panel i can have damn near 3 air cooled 1000s fuck the electric cost i can get triple the light so triple my yield i'll eat my power bill keeps the shitty economy going anyway lol

i am a firm believer that you get out what you put in. if i am pumping 20k watts into 96 plants i believe i will get more out of them than if i use LED panels or 40 400ws ROFLMAO

LEDS look pretty ill give them that........We use them at he club to display clones in glass cases....... LOL

lol i dont like them purple light messes with my eyes even with sunglasses on atleast with HID and sunglasses it just feels like im at the beach haha
