thats about the size of my bedroom you can do 6 1000s air cooled with a 1 ton a/c thats what i would do anyway lol use 24-30 plants depending on strain since some may take up a lot more space.

12' x 9' gives a total of 108sq ft.
While flowering, mj needs a min of 5,000 lumens per sq ft of canopy space, meaning you need a min of 540,000 lumens to effectively light the space. More is better, I like a min of 8kL.
A 600W HPS will give around 90,000L and a 1,000W will give around 140,000L
4x1,000W will give you decent lighting, 4x600W will leave you underlit.

You could always partition the space with seperate area's for veg/flowering.

i already got a veg/clone room i think 6 600w light would do it in that space with xxxL hoods

Just wire in some 30 amp lines. All you need is a 30 amp outlet, 10-2 wire, a 30 amp breaker, a screwdriver, a Kline tool (technically optional), utility knife, wire nuts or at least electrical tape and a free spot in your breaker box. If you have a GE box, you can replace the wide, single pool breakers with thin ones to free up spots.

just an opinion..when it comes to running multiple hid lights, i love 400 watters! sounds stupid right? well, in theory and doing the math over and over..there way more efficient for cooling and on a growers power cost/bill each month. cover a 4x4 easily, alow you to get closer to plants canopy cause they run so much cooler.
a 400 watter runs about 1.8 amps on avrg.
very low..so 6 x 400 watters would be about 11-12 amps total..were as a 1000watter..well they run about 6 amps each!
in my last large setup i had going..it was a 10x10..
4 x 400 watters covered that area fairly well..a 1 foot tall plant at flower would average about 3 feet at finish and yield about 1.5 oz's a plant..
i also used hps bulbs in two fixtures..and mh conversion bulbs in the other 2.
really had a fantastic spectrum..
then i added two 90watt ufo leds from lighthouse(american made)
my crystal production went into overload.
my yield was about the same, but everything tightened up and the dense factor was awesome.
multi spectrum lighting(aka full spectrum) is something to factor for high end quality product.

that 12x9 could cost a fortune to run each month with multiple 1000 watt lamps.
also..the more light sources you have, the better penetration and coverage you will get.
so, 4 400 watters will out do 2 1000watters any day of the week..
closer to plantz, run cooler, and use way less power.

all i got is 2 20 amp outlets and one 15 amp for the ac
if you can get an electrician to wire you in some 240v outlets you can run it easy. 4 1k watts will work fine i just like to go big lol. but seriously try to get 240v it will cut your electric bill in half compared to trying to run them on 120v.

what are you talking about?!?!

it is proven that a 600w is the most efficient bulb for lumen efficiency. 1000w lights will always have more penetration than a 400w that is why we use them in commercial growing. do you think its easier to run cooling and ducting for 4 1000w lights or 8 400w lights lol come on now

yea i think ima switch to 240v would it cost alot to get an electrician to do this and i think ima go with 4 1000s with raptor hoods and would that be to much for an apartment would it throw up a red flag i wnna go big and how much plants should i put under this lights ina sog

400w does not cover a 4x4 well.....yes you will have results but its not going to cover it well.......400w= 3x3 600w=3.5x3.5 1000w=4x4

your acounting for 1 400watt not multiples, the factor of distance from garden, etc etc..not taking any of these equations into account..
that equation hardley gets the job done when factoring a grow using hid lighting.you must dive deeper
it does a 4 x 4 just fine, how do i know? from experience using each wattage from 1000 watters to 250 watters over ohhh..30 years now..
a 400 is simply this..COOLER wich = closer to the canopy..better light pen..unless your fork out big money and go air cooled and a few extra blowers and high wattage..400s will always be a more efficient light..
another factor to figure..size and shape of the hood!
that plays the major role on your ground pattern/light coverage area, even more so than the wattage of the buld..

maybe you missed my last post a 600watt is the best lumen/watt ratio of all HID......

if you are in the orange county area PM me i can send my electrician over he does all the power for my grows he is very reasonable cost depends on how far your panel is from your room. wire is the most expensive part labor is nothing.
