UPDATE:

DAY 57 / DAY 17

soooooo its been like 2 weeks since ive updated this journal. lol. but o well let me bring you up to speed.

the older girls just KEEP growing. they are so big now and ive had to tie them down because they were too tall for my space. and that was like A WEEK AGO. but they KEPT growing and so now they are right up against the cool tube and ive had to indvidually tie down and manage each arm in the right spot to keep the buds from burning! lmao. not good. i love it though, im learning alot from all of this. ill be alot more prepared next month.

but im very confused. i dont understand why they; A. are so fucking damn big , and B. why they took so long to start budding? they have been 12/12 from seed. i dont understand. these girls didnt really start flowering untill about almost day 50 after they were over 45 inches tall. lol. like they were on 18/6? haha. they just ignored what i was trying to do here and just grew like normal. LMAO. no complaints though! ill enjoy the yield. i just wish i would have fore-seen this growth so i could have started LST alot earlier. i would have been able to manage them a whole lot better. but its learning experiences like this im glad to have. all is well .

as for the young ones ..
they all were healthy, but ive narrowed it down to the 2 that im going to keep. they are both blue widow seedlings day 17. i cant wait to grow these for the next couple months. im gonna do a much better job at managing their size. ill keep the lights as close as i can, restrict their growing medium a little longer, and also their strain is very indica dominant so that should help as well. i cant wait! i love growing these plants. very fulfilling.

WHAT UP

i wanted to throw up a few more pictures and give a quick update.

everything is still rolling along, im managing them as well as i can. they are so close to the light and theres nothing i can do about it tho .. m hoping 2-3 more weeks but i bet it will take longer. the tempertures are not TOO dangerous for most the buds because its only a 250w and its being cooled w cold ass air in the 6" cool tube. the glass itself will keep even the closest ones a "safe" 3 in. from the bulb at least.

but heres some updated pictures for you guys though. how young would you say these flowers look?

i actually only took pictures of one out of the two plants. they're pretty much identical though. the yellowing you see in a few pictures is where the light is the closest

yeah it was a bummer. so many ppl got bad results with those seeds. i dont know whats up with that. i dont know if they're just real needy and we arn't giving them what they need, or if there may be an issue in the genetics. but either way i was very disappointed. i was looking forward to the blue cheese.

but i have a new "blue" strain growing now as you see. the blue widow. (day 27 today) and i caanntttt waaaaaiiiitt

DAY 67:

i forgot to take pictures of the blue widow plants (day 27) earlier today when i took them out but i will put some up tomorrow.

i do want to share the pictures i did take of the older plants with you guys though so check em out! everything is looking great. im hoping less then 2 weeks on these girls. the only issues im having is that the plant that is closer to, and directly beneath the bulb has a fair amount of heat damage to the leaves and some of the flowers. and also a lighter yield. i can definitely tell a significant density difference between the plant whose buds are a safer distance from the light are so much more developed and rich in crystals all over the flowers, leaves and even stems.

but im honestly not concerned at this point with this loss. this is all personal consumption and im overly pleased with my results thus far. plus i have 2 more growing right behind them that i will make sure turn out even better, and more seeds ready to plant on day 40. so i honestly couldn't be happier. ive been practicing/preparing/financing this entire thing on and off all year since february and i finally feel like im at a point where i can begin to kinda feel successful for my efforts ..

Your 2 grapefruit plants look great. I figure you must be 20 days ahead of me, (from seed Aug 1?), so it is really nice to see a few weeks into the future when I look at yours.
I'm into second week of flowering, and not much smell yet. Also 12/12 from seed but my set up is different, I am hand feeding in 6" rockwool with 400w hps and 150w 6500k cfl for 5 plants. AN nutes w/ hobbiest level upgrade (voodoo juice, b52, big bud, overdrive). I have a can filter but not planning on using it until smell is noticeable outside of the closet. Seeds are from marijuana-seeds.nl.
You said you are hoping only 2 weeks left. Mine should have 6-7 weeks left according to seed info. I think your girls must have started to flower at younger age or you should have 3-4 weeks to go. Ultimately the plants will let us know. I plan to wait till more than 50% amber trichromes for full flavour/balanced high.

whats up man thanks alot. yeah i planted the grapefruit on aug 1. so we're only 20 days apart? thats cool. you never mentioned what strain your growing though what is it?

also, yeah i might be chopping a bit pre-maturly but im going to take her down in 4 days on sunday (day 82). i have to. i need the space under the HPS for my blue widow plants. they are very readddy for it and besides the grapefruit are looking VERY near finished anyways im sure i will not be disappointed in the slightest.

yo! im back. im really sorry but its hard to keep this thread as updated as i'd like it to be. but im here again and ive got more pictures! lol. so here we go.

since we last spoke, i have transplanted the blue widow plants into 2gal pots on day 30 when they both began showing large white pistils all over the place. they are still under the t-5's, but ive changed them to TWO 3000k red instead of the 6500k blue lights. not as deep red as i'd like but its only for a week while i let the grapefruit finish they're 9th week flowering. and then after that they can have the HPS all to themselves .

thats another thing ...

!!!! IM HARVESTING ON SUNDAY !!!!

im cutting down the grapefruit on day 82. they are only about 3-5% amber hairs/trichomes at the moment but im okay with pulling them early. they look/smell amazing and damn near completely ripe. i would give them an extra 7 days but i dont have the time to spare with the blue widow plants that are currently still under the t-5's. i wanted them under the HPS as soon as they showed sex and that was 8 days ago. as you can see im still working out some timing issues here w this set up, lol but im doing well correcting my mistakes and it will be better next month.

one more thing before i put up pictures. ive selected next months crop. it was damn expensive but im confident it will be completely worth it in the end. im sooooo excited for this one omg. even more then i am for the blue widow, or even harvesting the grapefruit! lol.

hey man whats up. im glad to hear your growing grapefruit too. which sort? mine are here:

but about the harvest, yeah brother its going to be an early take on her. she is finishing wk7 starting wk8 tomorrow (from flower). it will be day 82 from seed. ive already sampled the it and the potency is there. and there is actually a great deal of orange hair throughout the fruit i can promise you. i will get alot of good pictures tommorow before, during, and after i cut her down. im actually being forced into though since one of my blue widow plants is already 21 in. and has maxed out my veg area. lol. the other one is only 16 in. with short internodal distances. the tall one is starting to "pheno" towards the widow i can tell, while the others' stature is more like the short blueberry indica.

and no man .. im not gonna do any hash if thats what your asking. whats bubble or bho? im gonna just scrap all the clippings n such this time around.. sadly. because i really wanna do it. but first of all i want to do it legit with the filter bags, but i couldnt afford any quality ones in time. but also, i understand these buds could definitely go another 10-14 days to fully fully be ready to come down. a bit more even. so that resin production really hasnt accumulated in a very great deal anyways. so im just gonna wait till next time around. the blue widow is starting wk2 of flower tomorrow. and ive made sure they will have the time they need. so ill surely keep all they're clippings and make some goodies with those.

HAHA. i was a bit anxious i know. but i honestly i did it with diligent intentions.

first of all the one single bud i clipped was already BURNT on one side anyways. LOL. it was leaning on the glass right in front of the hottest part of the bulb and i needed to take it out. but more importantly i wanted to conduct the most full proof test i could to see if cutting her down this early would be worth it. SMOKING IT. and also i wanted to sort of "experiment" with drying the bud in my chosen environment.

ive been waiting to sample this bud fresh from the plant. i was very interested in tasting it in this way. lol idk why. i was just really curious about it. i actually enjoyed it too. taste was of more like "plant" you know? but not really unpleasant per say.. but then of course i let it dry for about 2 days and i smoked it again, and then earlier today on day 3 i smoked the rest of it. it weighed 3.5g when i first cut it down. i smoked the TINIEST amount of bud each 3 times i sampled it, and each time i made sure i was completely sober before trying it.

now i understand 2 and 3 days drying, no cure is far from the conventional "ready" ... and the plant was only flowering 7 weeks .. but the experience was AMAZING. i shit you not. lol. im not over exaggerating or anything. even the first time 20 min off the plant, this shit is so cerebral and very intense. lasts more then 4 hours and is extremely pleasant and vibrant all the way through. oooh and each time it kept getting more dry, it kept getting even better! lol. and i was smoking the littlest bit of weed ever each time. the taste was just very clean and enjoyable. im going to be very pleased with this harvest im sure. this is all for personal consumption anyways. im so happy right now i cannot express to you all. lol seriously. im so proud of my efforts. my plants look and smell wonderful. ive never seen anything like this before in real life. i cant believe all of this is mine. everyone in the world should not only be allowed, but ENCOURAGED to grow marijuana plants. lmao. its so fulfilling.

im not going to smoke this plant again untill after tomorrow when i cut her down and then ALL the buds are dry later this week. then ill smoke a little when i jar them, but then not again untill at least 3 days. then a week, then 2 weeks, etc. im going to experiment and see how the potency changes over the next 2 months. this is so exciting. fuck.

thanks buddy. yeah i would honestly let them go longer but im on a schedule and also i have one of the blue widow plants about to max out and start touching the t-5's like literally tomorrow. lmao. so everything points towards there being no week 8 for her tomorrow.. o well.
