There is a long history of involvement in Congo, a very real interest in S. Sudan remaining stable, and the CAR has been a complete clusterfuck since it's "independence" that should be more accurately labled "total fucking chaos."

My take is it's just inconsistent. We don't send 100 'armed combat advisers' to every part of the world under hostile rule, so it seems obvious the decision wasn't made because innocent people are being killed/displaced. Obviously those people need help, but what do they expect to accomplish with that small number of troops? I suspect there's an alternative motivation that hasn't been published. Some asset or resource, I read a quote by Obama that actually admitted as much yesterday.

We're probably not going there to help out the people, probably just to secure something or assassinate somebody.

From what I've read, that guy would definitely make the list. But what then? There's 5 Kony's for every 1 you assassinate. The fight doesn't end when the guys heart stops beating. Those people will still face the same treatment because their governments are corrupt and the ones that aren't are ineffective and 100...1,000 armed American advisers isn't going to change that..

Wish I had the answers for Africa...

This has WAY more to do with the big picture than just Kony or the LRA...I just read a very good analysis on Stratfor about this, it kind of makes Kony "beside the point." Let's just say that geography has everything to do with this...and yes, as I said in an earlier post "proxy war" for sure.
