I am running 6k overhead and then run 3 600's verticle down the middle row, It is a sealed room horizontal lights are air cooled, verticles are not. 24k BTU split AC keeping it cool...

Do you even want to use the whole 10x10? Do you need any of it for reservoirs, fans, dehumidifier, etc..?
well actually, the whole space i have is about the size of an average living room, maybe 12' x 12' with a height of 10-12'. i want to utilize as much space as i can without setting off any alarms. i was thinking of maybe using 6'x8' for flowering..

Then I think it depends on how many plants you want to grow and how much of a budget you have. If you can build it how you want then I would suggest taking the best advantage that you can of the lights you are going to use. A 600w light has a footprint of 4x4 and a 1000w of 5x5. So, if you had a plant space of 8x8 then 4 600w lights would be perfect. Even in 6x8 those 4 600w lights would be fine. Check out the thread in my signature and I'll help you design something if you want.

I would scale back those foot print sizes.in reality, the powerful light is in a 3.5 x 3.5 pattern for a 600 and a 4 x 4 for a 1000. Depends on the hood really, but those are the references you see printed in all the grow books.

I would throw 4 1k's in there with shallow and wide hoods. Two rows 4 foot wide and a small isle between them.

No. For the best results you should keep your 1000w lights cool enough so that you can keep them 18" from your plants. If you can do this then the optimal footprint is 56" x 65". That means that all plants in that area are receiving the optimal level of of footcandles.

Man I hope you have about $10-15K at a minimum to set up that room.....and I mean minimum.

Why not start smaller and work your way up. I promise you're going to fuck up and run into all the problems we have all suffered through, but you're going to be depending on the incoming $ to pay for this.

Your electric bill for so many lights will be $2000/mth, including the AC units, dehumidifiers, co2 equipment, nutes, everything. You don't get that back for at least 6 months if you do everything perfect.

$250 / Light = $1000, Exaust fans = $400, Carbon filters = $600, Soil = $500, Nutrients = $500, + $2500 for extra supplies which might be needed.... thats $5000 total.... for a HUGE setup with everything you need.....

Not if he follows the guides PROPERLY. quess what buddie, you might have fucked up your first time, but MANY peoiple who grow here grow amazingly their first time, simpley because they pay attention......

You mean his Electricity bill will be around 4x 1KW/H = 4KW/H x12 = 48 KW/H / Day @ .9 c / Kw/H translating into.... $4.50 / day...... P.S: you dont need A/C or Co2.....

for you, maybe but defiantly not for us Big Boys.

10-15K to set up a 10X10 room? I don't know what kind of magical shit you are putting in your room....but unless that entire room is water cooled and completely automated...it wont cost even half of that for just a hobby grown room. all he needs are 4 1000W lights, fans and filters, AC, CO2, light controller, co2 controller and maybe a monitor, pots, soil, nutes, plants. If you spend 10-15K on that then I need to open a hydro store and fck growing.

and even at 20 cents per kwh....and adding in the fans and everything else...lets say he's using 60 kwh per day. 12 dollars a day. 360 dollars a month. If he is smart he will run everything at night while the rest of the house is all turned off.

haha $2000/mth??? where did u get that info from? i did my own research and it would only cost me like $80/mth for 2x1000w running 12 hrs a day... but give me $10K for supplies and i'll build your whole grow room for u by myself for FREE!!! LOL

In that room you might consider 6x600W. As legallyflying stated above, each bulb will cover a square meter very well. If you run three down each side of the room against the wall, it gives you two rows at 40"x120" each with a wide aisle down the middle with plenty of room to work. You could even set up your trimming table in there and take advantage of the filter to prevent the funk from invading the house while you work. Might even be room for a drying box.
An alternative setup would be to build low platforms 40"x40" on 3 inch casters and place all the plants down the center and take advantage of the light overlap. You may be able to get another row of plants in this way.You need to be able to roll things around so you can reach the plants on all sides.
I also grow in 12'x12' rooms. I hang two banks of 3x600W vertically 4' apart. This allows me to arrange 10 trees around each bank of lights and harvest half the room each month. This gives me a constant supply of buds and cuts down on the monotony of trimming a large room all at once.
I also agree that maybe you should start smaller, maybe one bank of lights. Then expand as your skill level increases and your bank account grows.
Good luck,
Fred

is there any way to know the maximum amount of plants you can put under let say his 2 1000 hps
I see this question EVERYWHERE on the forum. It depends on how big you grow your plants. If he pushes straight to flower and only grows 1 cola SOG then he might be able to fit 150 under a 1000w light. If he is in veg for 6 months and does LST and Tops his plant then switches to flower when it's 4' tall he might only be able to fit 1 plant per light.

This is just absurd. No way will it cost that much. Have you read the thread? He's talking about a 6x8 flower.
