$1,000 for 1 Seed?.

Hypothetical:

I come to you and say I've got an extremely high cbd plant that will allow you to kick pills completely to the curb for the rest of your life. $1,000.00. I'll even let you sample the bud first.

You wouldn't jump on that?
I wouldn't, b/c I can allow indica doms to flower late and thereby convert THC into CBD.

But If I were supplying let's say cancer patients...I would probably pay a lot for a Harlequin bomb ass pheno bean.

This reminds me of Logic's (THCFarmer) auction a year or two ago of an Alien strain that people were climbing over each other to get. I think it was around 5 packs and they were WAYYYYYYY up there price wise, I think in the thousands for a pack of 10 or 15. It was CRAZY and I'm happy to report that I've read numerous disappointing grows on the strain.

I'll remind everyone you're not really buying seeds, you're buying genetics and once you own the strain, you can clone i forever......... but $1000 for a single that may not sprout is risky. A clone, maybe....but a seed- NOPE!
lol, we must of typed ours out at the same time ssshz, too funny.. :D

THC degrades to CBN, not CBD.

I wish it were that easy! :-)

Well we ask have our price points, I simply don't play that foolish game. I've had the privilege to smoke quite a few of these clone onlys, not a single one would I spend that money on.

The term a fool and his money come to mind...
But to each their own, it isn't my pocket book.

if you paid a high dollar for something, that also means others would probably be willing to spend money on it too.. and if you're the only person holding a certain strain people want, you could be sitting on a gold mind.. people make tons of money off of hard to find cuts, i surely wouldn't call that a fool and his money parting..

Let's be honest, there are so many outstanding strains out there. If you think you could recoup that money, you've got a system in place to do so, good for you. Cannabis is is a buyers market now, not a sellers (at least in medical/legal states, don't know about illegal ones) There isn't a single perfect strain out there.

eta reminds me of this fool that worked at a head shop I use to go to, trying to sell me a $500 ounce. Simply laughed at him and walked away. As I did of course he started haggling down despite saying it was the best thing ever. Couldn't do business with that clown. If it was so good, why you haggling down as I'm walking away? Sure you can rip off old heads who have poor connects but back then, having a roladex of growers why would I patron this guy?

If you asked me this when I first started growing I would have said something along the lines of "Hell no, I wan't to experience the journey of finding something special". These days, I would definitely consider it for a proven clone of something very, very special. I have spent so much time and resources growing out B+ quality and even some C/D grade plants...I have found a few needles in the haystack, like my Holy Grail Kush that I have kept around a while now, but the search continues. I have grown out a lot of clones from dispensaries and have never found anything better than B+(Portland area). No one is interested in giving up clones of anything special for a 15$ donation and I can't blame them. I only do seeds now and I have a lot of hope for my lastest herbies order, but its still going to be a lot of work(albeit fun) and time to see what I really have.

I think I would do it, actually.

I was reading along in this thread, the whole time thinking no way in hell, until I read the analogy up there about pills. If there was a clone that had no paranoia for my light weight ass and took my pain away which would end my being a slave to pain pills, I'd pay it in a second.

Nobody seems to care about the fact I brought up..you're buying a bean, anyone willing to spend a grand on a crap shoot is surely a fool in my book..even if I were rich beyond rich I would not pay more than 50 a bean because their is not one on this planet anybody can prove to be worth more and that fifty dollar bean would have to be something very special..I think I have grown one plant that I can look back and say in hindsight I would have been happy paying that...in fact if anyone knows where I can get ahold of a promotion bean from about a year back, g13 labs sour d x chronic, that would be appreciated they don't seem to sell it and Idk why because this thing is gorgeous soooo light green nice shaped wide buds covered in crystals and so good the smell...

I mean it can not germ, it can be a weak one...just to many variables to drop a g shit I can go buy so many better things with that money plus once we start paying those prices here and there, they will all start to rise

I would have a hard time paying $1000 for a bean or cutting but I would consider it as I can see how it would save time and money. I spent way more than $1000 on my electric bill last year pheno hunting but I did enjoy it. It would have to be something very special

There are only 2 strains I would pay that kind of money for as a clone and only one of those two a seed. Real deal ATF clone and the real PA Road Kill skunk as a seed or a clone.
The skunk was the old skool real deal road kill because if I could reverse it and make seeds everyone would want that strain. It was that good and it would be in very high demand.
It is not the sweet version and was way afghan indica, had plate leaf over the bud and smelled like a skunks ass.
The ATF sativa is another one of those keepers that is real rare and is something I have always wanted. Closest thing is DR green thumbs version and it is sadley out of stock. But you will have to pheno hunt for the special one.

The OP did include electric and months of pheno hunting to narrow it down to 2 keepers so I assume he is not the only one who has sent that much time and money to find a keeper. Sure many others have as well without realizing it.

Out of principal I would not pay a breeder more than $100, besides...any breeder charging that much would be crucified before ever making a sale. But you can understand the value I would hope, I'd rather pay up-front for top genetics as opposed to paying more in the long run.

Wait a minute, aren't you the herijuana guy?. I found a second pheno on that strain a year and a half ago, yields higher and has more of a fruity flavor as opposed to coffee. If so, that's a prime example...Dynasty CCK blows away heri. Had I known this 2 years ago, would have saved having run 2 packs of heri before switching gear.
Some days I am the TGA guy, other days the Sow Amazing guy, and others the cheese dom guy. Before the Crosby avatar, I was the hot BBW guy [confusing I know]. Soon to be known as the lemon colored Bodhi cultivator, hopefully, and also known by my spaghetti sauce approach to growing as well as life in general.

But no, most definitely not the herijuana guy. [ or the 'autos' guy ] :blsmoke::peace:

As a side note......I've grown Sannie's Herijuana a few times and was never overly impressed by it. It was ok, but nothing special by any means. I love Sannie and his stuff, but that strain is living off it's long-past reputation IMO.

If you have cancer patients to supply, those are supplies you need for your business. It's almost a no brainer. If I'm growing for myself, I'd rather spend $1000 (on lots of stuff) and go hunting.

Growing Canna is my hobby, and been doing it a long time, but I do grow toward the future, so I don't mind or care so long as I get the results I want
