Has anyone got experience of using dual spectrum bulbs?

I get the impression that while these are available in 240v form for European markets, they are difficult to find in 110v form in the US.

    Advice on CFL please

I'm not convinced that's right. These will be 240v bulbs for the European market. If you were going to use them in the US you would need a step-up transformer and an E40 socket to plug them in to. I think they are all imported from China anyway, and I believe they will also do 110v versions, but...

    Advice on CFL please

That's exactly the bulb that I'm looking at. I notice that Basement Lighting are also selling 160w dual spectrum bulbs on ebay, although they don't have them on their website yet. I tend to grow mixed varieties together, which means that they enter the flowering stage at different times, hence...

    Advice on CFL please

I am planning to buy a twin Sunmate reflector for growing autoflowering varieties. I am undecided between 125w and 300w bulbs, and whether I should go for blue for veg and red for flowering, or dual spectrum throughout. Questions I have are: 1) 125w or 300w? 2) blue then red, or dual spectrum...

Does anyone know a good alternative to aerogarden sponges?

It seems wasteful to buy Master Gardener kits just to use the sponges.

How long do Aerogarden CFLs last?

I know the manufacturer says 6 months, but has anyone continued to get good results by keeping them longer, even until they expire? Thanks

    My First Hydroponic Grow

My first grow too, so I'm no expert, but here's my thoughts based on my experience so far: 1 Should I be concerned about pH levels this early on? I haven't done any readings yet Yes, the sooner the better. You got yourself a free aerogarden, so invest a little in a pH test kit or meter. If...

Is anyone else having problems with Aerogarden nutrient tabs?

I just received my pH pen and checked the pH in my reservoir. It was 6.7, and my tap water also has high pH. If I had used distilled water I would probably have been OK, but I think the pH would still have been a little high. I'm going to stick with tap water for now,but correct the nutrient...

Is anyone else having problems with Aerogarden nutrient tabs?

That's good info. I'll finish this grow before I decide to persevere with Aerogarden nutrients, but I'll make sure that if I buy a Master Gardener kit in future it contains the liquid nutrients.

Is anyone else having problems with Aerogarden nutrient tabs?

Yes, I've been doing that. I also noticed that they weren't dissolving very easily, so I ground the last one with a mortar and pestle before dissolving it in the water that I was going to add. I'm also suspicious that my tap water has a lot of chlorine in it, so I've just boiled a gallon ready...

Is anyone else having problems with Aerogarden nutrient tabs?

The tabs that I have been using came with a used Aerogarden that I bought off eBay. They look as if they have been absorbing water, and may have leached nitrates. Either that, or my pH is out, and it is causing lockout. I've tested the pH with wide range test strips, and it looks about right...

Is anyone else having problems with Aerogarden nutrient tabs?

I've been using 1 small tab and changing the reservoir each week for weeks 2-5, as per the FAQ, but my plants are looking pale and yellowish, as if they are suffering from nitrogen deficiency. Has anyone got any suggestions like increasing the dose, adding a supplement, or just changing to...

Does anyone know the NPK composition of the tabs in the Master Gardener kit? Thanks

    "Feminised" seed turning male?

I read that someone tested the Aerogarden tabs as having EC of 1.5 and pH of 6.5. That suggests that I need to check the pH and adjust it down.

    "Feminised" seed turning male?

Aerogarden don't seem to publish the levels, but a company which is advertising a product as having identical levels lists the following: GUARANTEED ANALYSIS: TOTAL NITROGEN(N)..................................10.0% 9.50% Nitrate Nitrogen 0.50% Ammoniacal Nitrogen PHOSPHORIC ACID(P2O5)...

    "Feminised" seed turning male?

I think they are lacking something (not balls obviously!) It's my first grow, and I'm using Aerogarden nutrient tablets. I haven't checked pH yet either. Any suggestion on how I might give them a bit of a boost? I suppose I could change to different nutrients, although it seems a waste not to...

Pictures attached. It looks pretty clear-cut to me, unfortunately.

    "Feminised" seed turning male?

Thanks for your replies everyone. The seeds came from a bank which sells individual seeds, so I suppose it's really dependent on their careful handling and re-packaging. I'll get some pics and post them.

    "Feminised" seed turning male?

4 weeks in, and one of the plants I am growing from supposedly feminised seeds (Automatic White Moscow) seems to be male. Has anyone else had this experience? Is it likely to be male or hermaphrodite, and should I kill it now or see how it goes? The other 2 plants haven't started to pre-flower...

    Number of plants

Has anyone had success in growing more than 3 plants at a time? I've got a Deluxe, so I guess I could go to 7 theoretically, but that the roots would get choked up before I get to that point. I'll usually be growing feminised autoflowering varieties.
