The screen is inside of the brass fitting resting slightly above the bulb.

Spectra Unit 90watt Led grow, almost done.Whe got buds...

Mathematically speaking, it would be described as a ratio problem with his 300watt LED in this case approx. equal to 1333 watt hps. a ratio of 1:4.4444 Though in reality, I suspect the ratio is much lower perhaps 90watt = to 150hps or so...which would be 1:1.666 or in this case his 300watt...

    DIY Halogen Vaporizer

Yes, air comes from the base of the brass pipe...past the bulb (which is sitting in the pipe)...which heats the air...and vaporizes the herb.

Procyon, Is it worth the cost?

For the price, you would probably do better getting a T5 setup. From what I hear, the Procyon by itself yields around 2.5 - 3 oz. Of course ymmv.

Will 8 40 watt CFLS work?

That is roughly what Garden Knowm used. 8 is plenty for a smallish space. Larger spiral bulbs (more than 42 watts) are typically not as efficient. Divide the lumens/watt to be sure you are using the most efficient bulbs. You want at least 5-6K lumens of CFL per square foot.

Wiring question: how many watts are safe?

If I were you, I'd save up all of $8 and buy a replacement power cord from your local home improvement store. And while you are at it, pick up a book on basic wiring. You do not want to wire CFL's in series.

Ed Rosenthal Say's CFL's May be Better than HPS for Micro Growing

This is particularly true with CMH. CMH has perhaps the most balanced spectrum for plants out of all the MH. Also, LEDs lack far red which helps induce flowering. This is why it often takes longer to flower under LED. There is some far red in the white LEDs, but it would take a lot of them...

    California to legalize!

I am all for this...however... MJ is relatively easy to grow...and I suspect that if this does pass, all of the people who have these ideas of starting a large business off this will soon be disappointed. There are a lot of established people in agriculture who have the means and ability to...

Ed Rosenthal Say's CFL's May be Better than HPS for Micro Growing

It seems that eventually people begin to understand what is actually happening here. Think of Mercury Vapor lights...they might have a lot of lumens/watts...but horrible spectrum...and so the plant doesn't use that light efficiently. HPS spectrum is close enough to be useful; where it lacks in...

    Sufficient Growing Pots?

You can grow just fine in that. Obviously, the plant won't get as large, but you can definitely grow in it. There are plenty of people using 16oz containers doing mini SOG.

    CFL Potency.

^^^ smppro has stated the truth. It has been said that CFL bud may actually be a bit MORE potent due to a more even balanced spectrum. CFL spectrum is close to combining HPS & MH. They just lack the intensity and therefore yield. If growing for personal stash, yields aren't that big of a deal...

Switching from 400w hps to CFL- need advice

The above poster is correct. You do not want to flower really tall plants with CFL's unless you plan on positioning them all around the plants. Also, as to how many CFL's ...you need approx 4-6000 lumens per square foot for optimal flowering.

The Truth on Flouro vs HID

I am not sure just yet, but my inclination is that you are trolling. I've seen you post in a lot of CFL threads about your 150hps. My question is why? These are CFL forums, and people can easily find information on HPS. Why not limit your HPS postings to the other forums. Most of us in the...

The Truth on Flouro vs HID

I know you love HPS, but I have not seen any grow that CFL cannot compete with at wattages under 250. Sorry, but I have seen some CFL grows that are the yield equivalent of hps watt for watt at 150 watts. I can give you the links all day long if you want proof.

The Truth on Flouro vs HID

Well, apparently it is far better if you are going to use HPS to add bulbs to give a more complete spectrum for the best trichome production. CFL's are more complete in spectrum than HPS, but lack the intensity to produce as large a flower.

The Truth on Flouro vs HID

It has been said that floro lighting produces higher quality/better tasting bud, but lacks in quantity in comparison to HPS. Here it has been discussed before... https://www.gardenscure.com/420/lighting/118892-flouros-better-trichrome-propduction-than-hid.html A quote from knna from another...
