I bought an expensive bottle of Earth Juice ph down - do you know what was inside the bottle? Pure citric acid powder, yellowish in color. Basically dehydrated lemon juice.
absolutely yes I would use lemon juice to lower ph. I just bought a big bottle to use on my Rhododendrons outdoors.

I use 2 Teaspoons per gallon of water the first time, then 1 tsp per gallon for another few waterings, usually knocks them out
I roll with Fantech FG series - made in the US w/ German motors - the best for noise & power, after 3-4 years they are still running quiet:

This is exactly what's happening to me - I think it's a GOOD thing. I've refined my soil mix and gone up to a 600w light, the plants grow extremely fast in the first 3 weeks of flowering and become huge. I now have to use 5 gallon pots instead of 2.5 because the roots grow so quickly. Unless...
FWIW, I thought the CMH sockets sucked. It takes a lot more force to twist the bulb in or out, and you're grabbing glass. On a hanging reflector assembly. it's asymmetrical which means the right post has to go into the right hole as well.
how is the 2-post socket more efficient? The only...
It all depends on the laws in your state. In friendlier states they won't do much to you for one plant. Know the worst-case scenario and be comfortable with it before you drop seeds, or the paranoia will eat you up.
It's definitely possible to completely eliminate odor, use a good tent, a 4...
that is really funny! there is an anti-human element to some technology. Growing food is a fundamental human activity, why would one try to replace it? It's like designing a robot to have sex for you.
Shouldn't make any difference - bulbs *may* last longer with electronic ballast. That's the hype. Don't know if it's true or not.
ok, you actually said "digital" ballast - that's the same thing as electronic. With the older magnetic ones (the big heavy ones - core & coil) the bulbs...
2 Kessil H380's is plenty of light for one plant in a 3 gallon pot. A 5 gallon would increase the yield. I would aim for a 5-7 gallon pot in a 2X2 area, 180 watts of Kessil should be good. I would add a few white LEDs, maybe 4 in the corners, to even out the spectrum and bring it up to 50w...
The Hortilux 250w and 400w HPS bulbs are the best available, I've used them for veg too and they work great, you don't get leggy plants or anything. For flower I'd change them after 1 year on 12/12 with electronic ballast. Maybe 10 months if you're paranoid about losing yield.
For 600w and...
another data point - I upgraded from 3X3 to 4X4 to prepare for legalization this fall. I did one crop w/ 600w Gavita HPS and 4 plants, organic soil. The light seemed just right, I could run it at 18 inches from the canopy in 80 degree ambient temps. I use a Fantech FG6 centrifugal fan to...
2 oz. per month is the goal. With a 400w HPS and a smaller veg area you should be able to harvest at least 6-8 ounces every 2 months. 400w HPS is not going to cause heat signature problems.
I've had good results storing 18-24 months - still had fruity taste & smell and full potency. I vacuum-seal Mason jars with this cheap pump - works really well - and store in the fridge. They don't lose much green color this way either.
