Could be heat if the leaves were curling up instead of down. Looks like more over watering to me. Mine were over watered and as I let them dry off they stopped looking that way.
I'd back off a bit. Let it dry out more. Maybe try less watering when ya water. From what I have seen... I could be wrong. Over watering turns the plant that color and under watering just kills the leaves dry. Not much color change.
I just had a similar problem with mine 2 weeks I to flowering and after talking and showing a few pics... I was told it could be over watering. So I backed off and they are doing good.

Bushy means more room. How much room do you have? How any plants? For me I'm limited so I don't like bushy. But if you have the room... I say LST em and get them bushy and short. I have broke a few and used blue tape to hold em together. Now they have a huge knuckle on em and doing good.

I would not flush or put it into your soil. The diatomaceous earth will clog your soil and you will drain problems. Just cover the top of it. Get mosquito bites and mix it into your water and pour into soil. After they are gone remove as diatomaceous earth a such as you can. But I do all of this...
