Fist LED grow

well actually fist LED flowering :D

just got my new LED light last monday and did promise a few Ppl. in here to start a thread to test the LEDs aso.

DSC01346.jpg

120x3W (actual Watt 288W)

made it to replace my HPS, so spectrum is made for flowering in mind, so I still veg. with my T5HOs

reason is that I wanted the most out of the LED I bought, as they are expensive enough !

and with a Veg. room with two plants and a flowering room with two plants I can (I hope) harvest about the same as 4 plants switching between the T5HO and the HPS

plants Veg. nicely under the T5HOs anyway so why bother with so many blue/white LED in the fixture ;)

plan is to harvest twice as often, but half as much with a more constant power use and less power used in total and with no heat to fight, might get a "Veg" LED fixture later on if Im happy with the fist I got (need to see some results, and safe up more money)

so spectrum look like this:

8x620nm
16x630nm
32x640nm
32x660nm
8x700nm
and
8x455nm
16x6500K cool white

got the fist plant in under it last monday, so been there a week almost, but still run it 16/8 to give it some more Veg time as I just started this cycles, but the two hrs less and the more red already made it show sex :) I may add its a 7 weeks old LSD from seed been under 4x49W T5HO 6500K uptill now

DSC01353.jpg

I may also add that I had a problem (fist time) with over watering (fixed with some H2O2) so its actually just 3-4 days of that week under the LEDs if have grown really
I have two new small seedlings on the way to replace it in 8 weeks time plus one that is 5 weeks old under the T5HOs (the sister to the fist one never sprout, so its behind)

to day I wanted to place the 5 weeks old one under the LEDs aswell and begin to turn the light down to 12/12 next week to flower em

so fare only "problem" I have seen with the LEDs compared to the HPS is the space they cover, the light intensity almost match the 600W HPS 1 ft. away (and I expect.. hope for results as a 400W but with better spectrum)

DSC01376.jpgDSC01377.jpg

DSC00820.jpg

my 600W HPS did show about the same foot candles 2 ft away (plants top) 5K foot candles as the LEDs do at 2ft away, but the LEDs don't cover 4x4 ft as the HPS did, not even close, more like 1,2x2,4 ft so less then half, so I made a DIY light mover out of my fan so I could fit the 5 weeks old one in there aswell

DSC01404.jpgDSC01405.jpgDSC01406.jpg

found the idea on youtube, actually got it to move my fixture 10cm (4 inch´s) to the side and stop at each ends :D
so now I can cover the sides a lot better and spread the light better at the same time ..

a few more pics:

DSC01391.jpgDSC01392.jpgDSC01393.jpgDSC01400.jpgDSC01402.jpg

also got myself a moist meter after the over watering problem, so I have better control, have a little low humidity (humidifier is in the mail) so top soil tent to dry out fast

also made a repot of the oldest one, so one is in a 7 gallon pot the other in a 4 gallon

Looks good man, I just switched to a 1K LED and I have to say the essential oil production is way down and the profile of the oils is different as well, Under HPS I could smell the skunk and candy, under the LED I can hardly smell anything, when I rub the bud a bit it smells of lemon cleaner, it is so weird man, I will be going back to my HPS after this test I can feel it, my fixture has enough spectrum to make a good vegging light so thats what it will be prolly, unless this LED fixture some how does something crazy late in flowering.

Good luck with your spectrums there it may be different than mine and you may have a different experience.

Peace

thanks, Im wondering myself and had to try, Im not looking to produce pound`s or sell, its just for lil ol me, and I set my expectations low from the start, I was close to go all out T5HO to start with, so if it just can come somewhere in between T5s and HIDs Im happy, if I can pull 4 oz in total every 8-10 weeks from two plant`s my goal is reach and I have no need for the HPS
if all els fail I could use it along side a 400W HPS the last 6 weeks of flowering or if Im happy with the result and only need more yield get another one, but fist I want to do a hole 8-10 weeks flowering with this and see for myself ..

That Sounds like a real practical way to go about it, I don't need pounds either, I find it interesting the way the essential oil profiles change, curious indeed. I think the tech needs to advance some more. Then we will see a true competition to the HID, however I fear as the performance goes up so will energy consumption and what you end up with in the end is just a choice of what you want to use.

yea you might be right, tho I bet the spectrum will be better then the HPS so not only the weight but also the quality will be better at the same watt

lets see I like the fact that they don't provide any heat and therefor also is stealthy and I feel more safe leaving them, if I also can get better quality Bud´s then with the 2100K HPS I don't mind getting half the yield, if I can achieve that my T5 come in to play to insure I can harvest twice as often and get the same yield or close in the end as before (I did`t run both T5s and HPS at the same time)

thanks Bro

I will continue to update it to the end and report back what the result was and if it did live up to my expectations, Ppl are also welcome to ask any questions they might have and I see if I can answer them.

Hey SD what is a 1K LED? I saw you mention that in anther thread. Who makes them?

And Good Luck Slipon, I've never been a big fan of Cidly, but it will be nice to see a grow with something current from them. Interesting spectrum, but no 730nm-740nm?

LEDs are from FERO but I guess its the same chip and every thing and no, 700 IR is the highest, rest is in the Red/orange spectrum with a few blue the 6500K is to help the lack of blue and help copy my T5HOs they have been under for +6 week`s I believe there spectrum on the "off the shelf" fixture was 5-9-1 mine is 3-11-1 as I only will flower with it, tho I am doing a week of Veg right now, but once dialed in that is the plan

I could of sworn you did a Cidly panel. Damn, but a Fero grow is even better. Sigh, I gotta stop smokin this Black Widow so much. I can't keep track of everyone and their different panels. LOL

well as I said I believe its more or less the same, chip and case and every thing is from the same manufacture Im sure, I know FERO made business with Area 51 and its like 99,9% the same, I just picked it since they had a office in Europe and the service was great with a online chat and mails got answered in a few hours or a day at most, and I could customize it as I liked, and I saw no point in making it to grow my plants from start to finish when weed only need a 3th of the light in Veg. I wanted most out of the "expensive" LEDs

Fero Europe and Fero Canada are 2 totally different companies with totally different products.

Area 51 and Fero Canada at one time were partners, but as of 2013, they/we are not.

The Cidly Apollo LED that Fero Europe sells has absolutely 0.0% to do with anything Area 51 has sold or sells. Different LEDs, different drivers, different fans, different cases, different spectrum, different everything.

Area 51 has no issues with Fero Europe, we're on good terms. Stacey is good people, she's always been cool with me.

^^^^Shit he's always watching. Run!!!!!! LOL

What do you have a Google alert set so if anyone on the intertubes says Area51 you get an email? LOL Congrats on your latest panel btw. Looks like they're selling well.

ahh ok, did`t know, just sumthing I read some where on here, hard to know when two companies share the same name, and sell the same product, but service was great and light also seems good so fare so Im happy

Fero Canada and Fero Europe were also at one time some kind of partner before 2013, they've parted ways as well. Fero Canada seems they wont be selling grow lights anymore.

I do not know their entire story on what happened between the 2 Feros, all I know is what went on between A51 and Fero Canada.

I'm subscribed to the entire LED section, I do read most of what people post, I just do not post too often anymore.

Thanks. They are selling great. There's been just a little short of 80 units sold since the 1st this month. I expect it to slow down to a normal pace eventually, as there's been many people waiting to buy the new light, that's where the surge in sales came from.

You seem to be saying all leds are created equal. 1K of shitty spectrums/diodes just ain't gonna get 'r' dun.
Here's my girl under ~ 100 led watts + 50w Intense Basking bulb for DR/FR. Plenty of oil and huge 3D like trics everywhere, including stems

Also 6 of her clones vegged under ONE 22w 5000K. Added a 17w WW 3 days ago

guess its time for a little update, light have been running for 11 days now, so I guess my biggest plant is around 8 weeks old from seed and the small one close to 6 weeks old

light mover did`t last long, (2 days) I had my doubt, guess 4-5 Kg is to much for the motor to move, but Im sure a normal wing reflector with a bulb is possible, but now is the question, for my next grow, do I want to invest in a light mover of a fixture more, cost will not be that different, so its more like if I want to get 100% more light and pay more in power or get 50% more light (cover) with very little cost in power ? lets see, enough time to make up my mind, would also like to see the results of the one fixture with two plants.

both have been growing well under the LEDs compared to the 18,600 T5HO Lumens, guess the 6,500K LEDs helps a lot here, is down to 14 hrs of light so will hit 12/12 this weekend, have placed a screen over them in a scrog, to spread em out and fill in all the space under the LEDs, and to control the stretch, will see how many Bud site`s I can get to peak up at my 5k foot candles just over the screen at around 1,5 ft from the LEDs.

may add its my own Femi seed`s a mix of Violator Kush and LSD, 3th time I grow em ..

last two is the next one getting ready for the LEDs in 8 weeks time ..
