Hello all,

I am new to growing/smoking marijuana. I got interested while I was at this crazy party the other week. What I did was bought a 3 on/of timer. This can be used to turn my lights on. Its a 120v (5000 watt I believe) one at that. I am growing in my closet.

I am not sure if I am doing this right but maybe someone can help me? What I did was soaked a seed in a paper towel over night. Almost dried up so I decided to soak it in filtered water for a while. A few days later the root is up to 1/6th of an inch. By this point I was drunk and high so yeah not sure if I planted it correctly. I think I put it in root side down and all.

This is day 3 and I have yet to see any sprouting. I was using a 75w Incandescent light bulb that I picked up at Meijers. I decided to switch to a 42w (150w equiv) CFL bulb (soft white) at 2600 lumens. Soft white was all I could find ad Home Depot.

Right now I am using a 20/4 (on/off) cycle for lighting. Or should I be using more/less? Attached is a picture I took of my closet I am trying to grow in. I also have a air filter above in my closet. Its a 2 level closet. Meaning it has 2 bars in which to hang close from.

And the temperature is about 85-90F in my closet using 4 fans throughout my room to cool it.

Any suggestions?

Okay. Still no progress at all. Maybe since I was drunk/high when I planted them into soil I messed up. Just a possibility. Reading around some people said use no light at all. So I took a 1ltr bottle of mountain dew. Drank the bitch. Then cut the bottom off and poked 5 holes in it and put a plate below to catch the drainage. Put this one in my closet.

Tomorrow I will post some more pictures of my complete setups and what I use.

Ok, finally I have pics of the plant actually growing. And yes that first pic you see is the germination. The "towels" are lower right. hehe but anyways heres the actual plant (no sprout yet).

I took it out of the soil to check that its even growing and yes I was very careful about it. Used a spoon and scooped al lthe way to the bottom of my container.

Yeah. I have already been to both of those places before as well as hundreds of links on google. Thats what I do most of the time. Check for faq's or search google all day for things. Usually I notice missing details. For example 99% of the tutorials/videos mention germination in 24hrs to 14 days or so. Alot of them show the roots extending to lengths of about an inch or 2 within days yet I get 1/6th in about 2 or 3. Well hopefully soon the roots develop more because I have a bigger pot ready for it. Darkness for now seems to be working and once it starts to sprout some I will have more pics. Sorry I cant post alot of pics. Linux doesn't like my digital camera I guess.

Finally got more pics. Sorry I Cant post them every day. Like I said linux (or Ubuntu I should say) is giving me shit. Stupid drivers. I might try suse to see it the drivers there work properly tho.

I used a new seed since I pretty much lost the other one.. (accident).

This one gave me immediant results.

Day: what ever.. like uh 6 or 7 or something.
I see 2 more small leaves comming out that look like the 3rd and 4rd that apeared. I go to water the plant and the whole plant tils over. I try to stand it up and it falls. So I think to myself there must be somethign wrong with the roots or maybe its outgrown the planter I rigged up using a 1ltr pop bottle cut pretty low. So I dug the plant up and yup, it out grew it. So I planted it in a bit bigger space and I ran out of soil.. imagine my luck. It kinda tends to want to lean a bit if I water it so IM asumming that should be back to normal when it starts growing into its new space?

Heres the update. 2 100w Daylight CFL's. I hat to transplant to bigger container obviously. I am getting more lighting tomorrow. What I am wondering is if (2) 100w daylight cfl's and a 150w soft white CFL for 1 plant is enough or to much. actually is it possible to have to much light ???

Bought some stuff and atempting to make a nice 500-1000 watt light fixture. Goign to be posting pictures when I do.

Just a few more pics I took today. This should be enough lighting? Yes those lights are on.. not sure why such a dark picture.. thats a mystery to me. If anyone can tell what kind this is that would be helpfull to me if it can even be identified this early in growth?

we need to know wattages and outputs of those lights, they each need to be 26 watts or higher.
