Paint it with spinout -- its like airpots, when the root tips hit it they die and branch out from the root everywhere, conpletely have a solid root mass

same, I get the coir. but was expecting foam. not bothered.

One bag I got had really warm patches inside. When I looked closer I could see signs of mold. I guess it was beginning to anaerobically compost, it didnt make any difference though. ..... still rocks.

Im also keen to try some of the coco coir mediums. Never used it straight but from what the other guys on WoH are showing, its a winner too.

edit:
The best thing about this hobby is the choices ... Different mediums, strains, nutes. etc etc ... certainly lots to explore. :weed:
Enjoyment is what it's all about mate :eyesmoke:

be easy hempy bros and ladies!

also, i'm getting the itch to try a head to head of either the diesel-x or purple kush, 100% perlite vs. perlite/coco...recommended mixes, preparations or general tips with coco hempy would be much appreciated, or links...i'll check the coco growers threads too

"I've got blister on my fingers!" no, not a flash-back to the White Album... I trimmed last Friday night, Saturday for 2 periods, Sunday for one sitting to singulate buds that made up the big colas. Monday I trimmed up some hash buds from down low. The two PE express's have been in jars for 3 days after a good dry out on hangars and the smell when I burp the jars every morning just freshens up the house with a lovely sweet floral smell. I had the hay smell only slightly the first day on hangars before the "sweet citrus" rushed back in to take permanent residence for the jarring. Tonight I tore the scale with an empty jar and weighed in the 13 partially filled jars to get an idea of the weight. To my surprise I came up with 9.31oz total or 4.66oz per plant. That my brothers is my personal best for 2 gal buckets. Here is a shot of the mapito in the aftermath...just a little crust from some algae. Tried pulling up the stem and it is bound tightly to the substrate...these plants would have never fallen over based on the density of the medium. As a matter of fact these plants stood on their own the entire grow with no stakes or support what-so-ever.

Here's something I've never seen before....when I'm trimming buds, I alternate two pairs of scissors into a shot glass of 91% isopropyl alcohol to keep the process flowing without stopping to clean the resin off. A simple wipe with a paper towell and I'm gunning down more buds. This strain was gumming up scissors so fast it was ridiculous. The alcohol, as always turned lime green at first, but over several periods of trimming turned into a brandy wine color. I can only attribute this to the red flower pistols gumming up the scissors. Looks like you could drink it doesn't it? You can see the pistol sediment down low in the glass.

I like to use a razor blade to do a quick clean of my trimming scissors while I go. Couple swipes on each surface of the blades and ur back at it.

Looked like close to 10 zips. Very nice!!! Love the wine colored rinse from the scissors, awesomeness!!!!

Well fucking shit...I think i know why my last two runs and my current veg keep showing N or Cal/mag deficiencies....God forsaken root aphids...thought those flying punks were fungus gnats. I had been wondering why the hell i couldnt get nice green girls in hempy. Came downstairs today and there must have been a huge egg hatch...saw them all up in my perlite. On one hand im sort of glad i know why the hell my girls have looked like shit...on the other..fuck man..ive never in 15 years of growing dealt with these fuckers..I bought some sns 203 and drenched all my hempys but from reading this will only slow them. Anyone have experience with Imid/bayer for this problem. There is no way im scrapping 40-50 girls that are just about ready to flower. Although for next run i think i will take cuttings toss em in fridge while i throw all my containers away and nuke my room. blahsecuredownload-262.jpg

Damn :cuss:Sorry to hear that Shiva. but congrats on discovering a problem.

The only pest I ever came across was spidermite. I think in my corner of the globe many Canna pest find it difficult to survive outdoor.

Do you think a 'Hot Shot pest strip' will help until you get to deep clean? I'm sure it was responsible for nuking my spidermite problem.

I do have a few of those hotshot strips. Will definitely help with the fliers im sure. Been reading up on them and they are hard to eliminate but these nematodes called Nemaseek from arbico look promising. They are basically killing machines. Im just wondering how well they will live due to the frequent watering in hempy..and lack of soil in some of my pots.

Its weird to be glad you found a virulent pest...but i was really feeling pretty bad about myself having such ugly looking girls almost since i started doing hempy lol. Was thinking how did i grow nice plants in NFT, dirt, top drip, and flood and drain systems but cant master hempy when its supposed to be worry free.

Do you have any idea how they could have got into your grow-space?

edit:
Just speaking off the top of my head here but if they are in the root, has anyone tried drowning the little shits in a solution of H202? 24hr of submerged roots wouldn't hurt the plants any.

effectively it'll be like switching to DWC for a day; A far as I know DWC doesnt have these root aphids or whatever they are.

On cuttings i am assuming. Bugs are a real issue here since its so out in the open here there is massive trading going on.
