What will you accept as proof? And btw, those posts were not my opinion but lies, proveable lies.
You have done yourself no favors by creating this topic, Canndo.

Most of the stuff you posted from 2003 was reported exactly the same way on the other networks as well. Were they lying too, or were the lies only lies when uttered by Fox? Were they lies at all, or simply misinterpretations and mass hysteria leading up to the Iraq invasion, you know, the fog of war?

This is a provable lie?

"2. Global Warming. In a late 2010 survey, Stanford University’s Jon Krosnick found that "more
exposure to Fox News was associated with more rejection of many mainstream scientists’ claims about
global warming, with less trust in scientists, and with more belief that ameliorating global warming
would hurt the U.S. economy." Notably, there was a 25 percentage point gap between the most frequent
Fox News watchers (60 %) and those who watch no Fox news (85 %) in whether they think global warming
is “caused mostly by things people do or about equally by things people do and natural causes.”"

I read along with you guys and giggle a bit every now and then. Here is the bottom line!! Of coarse FOX is the republican channel, of coarse they spin the truth, of coarse they are not "Fair and Balanced"!!! So what!! The thing that I don't understand is that the right will disagree and argue with the points I just made!!!

Frankly, the only lies I can think of that were reported as news have come from the liberal media. In my experience, Fox news does a pretty good job of accurately reporting the news.

Now, of course, every news organization makes mistakes and I am willing to forgive those but the egregious examples of politically motivated blatant lying come almost entirely from the left.

If you don't like conservative opinion, then don't listen to O'Reilly and Hannity, etc. Likewise, if you don't like liberal opinion, don't listen to Ed Schultz.

Ratings numbers clearly show, by a huge margin, that Americans prefer conservative opinion shows like O'Reilly, etc. Tough shit, get over it.
Best post in this thread hands down.

I considered not putting this one in. I undestand what you are saying, that we cannot accuse FOX of lying in situations where there may be diffrences of opinion about facts.

I put it in anyway, not for the global warming fact but for the "less trust in scientists" part.

As I said, opinions are based upon facts, it is these facts that FOX lies about.

Let me get this straight, you say FOX cannot be accused of lying where there may be differences of opinion about the facts but the opinions you agree with, are facts, therefore FOX lies!

Please explain with no weaselology.

You are the most deceiving poster on this forum and you have proven it.

Posting a thread where one promises to answer every question and then answering not one of any significance and refusing to answer the rest is pretty deceiving Beenthere. But I see that we are both reduced to name calling.

There is nothing in my opinion that is worse than taking someone else's words out of context for effect and that is what you continue to do and continue to countenece your party doing as well.

I do not intentionaly deceive. I do not lie on sites like this one as it is fruitless to do so.

I challenge you to have a real and honest debate with me, further select several judges if you wish, let us see if we can hold our own.

I said no such thing - I fear that perhaps you scan my words and assume I say things I do not.

In an opinion, facts are mentioned, opinions are opinions of factual items. If an opinion includes such things as "everyone knows that Canndo is a liar", it is presumed that the "everyone knows" is not opinion but shared, agreed upon consensus - or... fact. That is why I posted items from opinion shows.

If an opinion show contained a discussion about a terrorist attack on the Empire State building on 9/10 and offered opinion on this event, it would not be the opinion but the event's time and place that is a lie.

It seems reasonable to not trust the scientists in this case. There was a big leak of emails between the scientists conspiring to cook the books. The global warming hypothesis is based on models of the climate, and actual measurements of the atmosphere and temperature going back a few decades.

Completely glossed over are some uncomfortable facts: it was warmer on Earth during the Roman era, for example, and the warming that is causing all the hand wringing comes at the end of the little ice age.

Before you are going to convince me to embark on a huge wealth transfer to the government and its cronies you need to get the global warming guess just a little more iron clad.

Twenty years ago all the hand wringers were decrying global cooling and "the coming ice age".

Canndo, I like you. You are by far the smartest and most pleasant of all the left-wing loons on RIU (how's that for a left handed compliment rolled up in troll sauce :-)), but you have not proven your claim of FOX news being liars.

I can cite multiple examples of outright lies from traditional, left wing media. You need to come up with a similar list from FOX before any of your hurled stones will actually break a pane of glass in my glass-house.

Desert Dude, I enjoy arguing with reasonable people, I learn from them and I my opinions and ideology are tested and honed by them, you are one who does this. I don't enjoy debating "tricks" or underhandedness as I learn nothing from that and simple minded gothchas like taking sentences out of context are unsettling, whether it is personal or on the national stage - you don't do that, you ask questions, you hold me accountable for my answers.

As for my being pleasant? I just can't see the point in being nasty to people I would most likely like in person or in real time.

I hesitate to begin discussing global warming on a thread about FOX lies - wait - note what I just did.

My post is an opinion, of course, although there are times when I feel I have to reiterate that. But within my opinion I just wound up intimating what might be considered a given - a "fact". I said this was a thread about FOX lies when it hasn't really been established that FOX does lie but my statement implies a trueism about which we each have an opinion.

In reality this is a thread listing things I consider lies.

At any rate, I would love to discuss global warming and the issues and politics surrounding the notion of it but we are talking about something different.

I hesitated posting this one. So let us leave it out. I will stipulate that even though I can show you over and over again that global warming exists, that it is man caused, and that it has been politicized in an attempt to diminish it's importance by self interested companies, it is still a matter of opinion and so long as FOX does not lie about instances providing evidence of global warming, it is not evidence of lie.

Furthermore I will stipulate that Fox's reporting on the war may have been subject to the "fog of war" as some other poster stated.

We are still left with the others, and we are left with the most damning, something that no one seems to be willing to address much - the fact that 8 different studies indicate that FOX exclusive viewers are misinformed or ill informed when compared to those who get their news from other sources.

This is interesting. The right maintains that the MSM lies and is heavily left biased. Would they not have the same burden of proof that I do here? And yet they never feel they have to provide such elusive evidence for their statement and it is widely accepted as "fact".

OK, pick a lie from your list, but not from a FOX editorial show, and let's discuss that particular lie. I was the one who posted about the "fog of war", so the 2003 portion of your list is inadmissible because every network was basically reporting the same stuff, at least in my opinion.

I can list two intentional, outright lies on the part of ABC and CNN off the top of my head about a politically charged event, and I can do that because both lies occurred in the last couple of months. In at least one case, it was FOX that reported the lie as a news item. How's that for irony and a little salt in the wound?
