Marijuana Withdrawal

Hey support is definitely the first step to help (grats!) but I've found 5-htp to work well when i want to quit suddenly. Its perfectly fine to take it every once in a while, just dont make it a habit. You can get it at any drug store http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-Hydroxytryptophan

Also, I love the munchies. When thats gone I hate eating, so you might want to get a digestive enzyme or super foods blend (blue berries papaya pineapple etc..) type of nutritional supplement to entice yourself into eating. I found a drink mix at walgreens called finest natural organics super fruits plus. Nabbed it for 10$. Otherwise I start shedding weight, and i only weigh 120lbs lol.

keep it up!

5-htp, it says in that article that its over the counter? how likely are they to give it to someone like me (20 years old, long hair, obviously a smoker)?

Ive been having tolerance issues, cant get high anymore. Then yesterday I work up next to my pipe (i toke right before i go to bed so its on my nightstand) and i got a whiff of ashes from the ash tray and for some reason the smell overpowered me and I just started puking. Now the smell of ash makes me want to puke and I have no clue why. Im deciding to take this occasion (obvious sign+no weed) to quit for a while but im having a pretty hard time with it. Sick Stomach mostly, cant sleep, cant concentrate. It just overall sucks. I feel really sick all over and STILL want to smoke (wtf) so finding something that might help with withdrawl would be a god send.

any info you can give me on that chemical/drug would be much appriciated. like whats it called? if i ask for 5-htp are they going to know what im talking about?

Also, ive heard of people trying to use spice as an alternative, and even tho i hate the stuff i will admit i looked into it. From what i can tell JWH affects the same receptors as THC, but even worse, for some reason tolerances to jwh rise fast (some people say it can double in 3 days) and i have to assume that if they use the same receptors, and your building an imunity, when you go back to pot your not going to be able to get high for all the pot in holland. Ive also heard of JWH doing permanent damage to these receptors. Ive heard of quite a few cases of spice poisoning, and its not a short ordeal, in fact, most people i know who have had spice poisoning have never gotten over the effects (which always seem to be different).

I've not heard of anything permenant, but the fast tolerance rise is true because it's a few times more active on the cb1 receptor than thc itself.

I suggest you keep yourself busy, drink more coffee if you like coffee, or tea, workout, etc. don't use alternative drugs that'll just fuck your coping mechanisms.

perhaps the biggest issue right now is since that morning my stomaches been so fucked up I cant eat. And im only about 125 (5'8') so not eating is like... dangerous for me. lol. Will my appetite come back slowly or am i ganna need to start jammin food down my throat?

it will come back slowly... I'd look into a natural herb store in your area and see if they have any teas or tinctures for stomach issues... they are out there trust me.

Permanent isnt exactly what Id call it, I have one friend that did a ton of spice, now he gets headaches when he does anything at all. His days of taking drugs and even most medicines are just over. As long as hes bein healthy and shit hes ok, but as soon as he pops a pill, smokes a join, or anything else (other than drinking for some reason) he just gets put out of commision with a splitting headache. I cant even smoke around him anymore.

so yea, to call him poisoned may seem extreme, since he sees no negative affects unless they are prompted, but it still sucks.

Thats a good idea, water helps the upset stomache. oddly tums dont do SHIT. like i might as well eat some bleached dirt. Ive also heard of drinks that are sold to cleanse ur body of thc, your supposedly supposed to drink em for 2 weeks before a drug test. Is there any validity to these? i obviously dont need to pass a drug test but if it gets the shit out of my body thats all i can ask for right?

there are a few herbs out there that help clense your body, but there is no instant cure. those over the counter solutions are usually bullshit too... this is why I say seek out a local herb shop, they'll likely have a good natural remedy.

It sucks. I go from eating about 5 times a day to once a day whenever I have to stop smoking.

It only lasts for a few days though.

For that 1 meal i make sure its something pretty good, and usually a smaller portion than I would usually eat.

Other than that- How do i deal w/ weed withdrawls?

Simple: I remember the withdrawls after I quit heroin after 3 years of solid use. Now those are withdrawls.

Opiate withdrawls make the small amount of discomfort from quitting weed look like childs play.

I would compare quitting weed to your air conditioner going out in the middle of the summer.

hmm, ill look around.
I feel like shit right now but i feel pretty good about the next few days I guess.

Truthfully, im 125 pounds (maybe a little less right now) and I do a TON of hiking, backpacking, biking, and shit like that, so my body fat percentage is extremely low, I think too low actually (doctors say im too light, but i can carry a 50-60 pound pack into the grand canyon and back so fuck them). Hopefully that means a shorter detox. It seems like finding foods / medicines that promote the regeneration of red blood cells might be a good idea. Im also going to cut fat out of my diet completely for the next week, and be carefull not to eat more than i realisticly need to (keep my weight down and my body using all its resources [including fat]). Unfortunately, im in 3 feet of snow right now though, so being active is going to be difficult. Im going to set my goal at 2 weeks to start with, which sucks because im getting a half pound delivered this weekend :( Ill have to turn it into edibles and put em in the back of my fridge or somewhere i dont see em.

Poplars, your first advice was the best; meditation. I already know; ya'll think it's a buncha kooky hippie bullshit; i always thought the same thing, then i went to prison for few years. Do it like I did; ignore the metaphysical aspects and just do the breathing exercises. You'll start to see just how crowded your mind is once you try to shut it up. All these substances people are recommending with the best of intent will only complicate matters for you in the long run. You already know what a heightened sense of consciousness feels like by virtue of your experiences with weed; the funny thing is, we don't need weed to achieve the same results and beyond. Good Luck.

as bad as opiate withdrawals are, I'd rather kick dope three times than have to go through methadone withdrawals again. let THAT be the reason I don't fuck with either one ever again!

bwhahaha, i live in arizona, when AC goes down here people die. no joke. specially in retirement facilities. but i still get your point. My father and I are really close, and Ive seen him go through vicodin withdrawl. He was only using for a few months tho after cutting off his fucking finger. What really screwed him over was when his prescription expired so he ordered from over seas and got this vicodin that can knock out a fucking horse! I took 1/4 one time (i dont remember why) right before coming back to school with my girlfriend and the entire time i was in the car I was just stoned out of my mind, my pupils wouldnt dialate, it was SO strong, and my dad had reached a point where he was taking 1-2 of those a day. His withdrawls where seriously the worst time in my life, I had to come home and help him with work and pretty much everything, he wouldnt/couldnt get out of bed, and hed never stay active for more than an hour or so a day before he would just go to sleep. On the random days he DID wake up at a normal hour, it usually led to serious mental breakdowns and crying sessions. It was the hardest thing ive ever had to do in my life. And i wasnt even the addict.

and yea, one meal a day, so far thats been it. yesterday I had french fries from wendies, maybe ill try adding some meat to that today.

just wondering if anybody has any tips to relieve the uncomfort of suddenly stopping toking
i have smoked steady everyday for quite a few years and now have to abstain for awhile
its been 5 days now, and it really sucks.
been really irritable and tired all the time
been having some crazy ass dreams also
i will be so happy when this is over and i can puff again
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
its so messed up that i have to stop taking my meds, it really feels cruel and unusual to me
i hear ya man..im on day 2 of no tokin myself, and i know exactly what youre going through!! usually after the second day its all good tho..you just have to stay busy..try to burn your excess energy by exercising. the dreams are great tho right!! i hadnt had a dream that i remembered in detail for years until i had to quit regularly(probaiton UA's)..i look forward to going to sleep now...its an adventure!

How do you meditate? This may sound like a stupid question but Ive really never lived in a community/family that believes in meditation, so i truly dont know the first thing about it.

there's a few ways... the first one I'd have you try is breathing meditation.

you focus on the sensation of breathing in and out.... associate the inhilation of air with absorbing the energy of the universe, and exhalation expelling the bad.

focus on this for an indefinite amount of time and you will slip deeper and deeper into focus and calm.

this goes even deeper to the point where you can actually ease bodily functions into certain functions you want, but that's much deeper so you should just start with the basic breathing meditation.

WW try a smoothie instead. I eat meat but in this instance the yogurt will hook you up.
Will do, must say im an odd eater tho. I drink 4-5 gallons of milk a week (which ill now be replacing with water) but I dont like any other dairy-like products such as ice-cream, ice-cream smoothies, cheeses, yogurts, cake, pie, chocolate (ok im leaving the dairy now i guess). So yea, i dont LIKE shakes/smoothies, but if you think it will help, at this point ill eat shit-covered duck feet to get this over with.
