Yeah, I do. Adds oxygen to the air feeding the roots and helps prevent root rot as well. I'd do it if you're not.

I have a question on my AeroGarden Deluxe - should I have the pump running 24/7 during all phases? I have a seedling right now, and I am going to run the lamp for 16-18 hours, but I'm not sure about the pump. I've seen a LOT of people say "don't overwater or you'll hurt your plant", but especially within the context of an AeroGarden, no one has quantified what "overwatering" is. What do you guys think?

I have heard lots of people say that u should turn off the pump so the roots can to through the sponge and not jus around it

ive had the pump running 24/7 for like 3 grows so i dont think it should be a problem, but for this grow i put it on the herb setting
mine never just grew around the sponge, they tore that thing up!

The AG has a WATER pump... we install an AIR pump.... which are you talking about?
there is no need for a second water pump, or a second air pump for that matter...

yea you just need one nice airpump and you should be good

I have never seen a water pump in an AeroGarden. I have a AG6 and it came with an airpump NO water pump. That is what Aeroponics is about "AIR".Second pump?

I leave for weeks so two is better thasn one.
Place we can't baby sit them a lot so we have two of everything.
Live a LONG ways from town.

lol...Go look....The AG comes with a built in water pump that pumps the water from the reservoir into the holes you put the sponges into. You can see the water running. If it isnt, your pump is clogged or broken, or off, due to the AG cycle you're running.

yeah. especially since the aerogarden is a drip dwc system. aeroponics sprays a mist of nutes over the roots, the AG just has a constant stream of water going over the roots; hence the WATER pump. once the roots hit the water tho, all you need is the air pump, which then converts your AG into BUBBLEPONICS.

I disagree there is an airpump mounted in the base as I can pick up the bowl the water is in and there is no electrical to it, no water pump.
Just one hole in the base and it pumps out AIR!
It has a stone that looks like a shootgun shell.
I was reading their site can they have removed the water pump and replaced it with AIR!
Mine is only a couple of weeks old. I'm not that dam high, YET!
Wish I had a cam!

My lights and/or Pump are not cycling as they should.
The light and Pump cycles on your AeroGarden will differ depending on which model AeroGarden you have and, with some models, which Seed Kit you are growing. Click here to see a chart of the Timing of the Light and Pump Cycles for different plant selections, models and growth phases.
On the 7-Pod AeroGardens (Classic, Deluxe and Pro Series), when you first plug in your AeroGarden, the lights will come on, but the Pump may not start up immediately. (Some of our Quick Start Guides mistakenly say that when you plug in your new AeroGarden, both the Pump and Lights should come on right away. This is incorrect, and that documentation is now being updated). The very first cycle of your new AeroGarden may not be as expected because of the test cycle performed at the factory prior to packaging. It may take up to 8 hours for the Pump to begin cycling the first time you plug it in.
To determine if the Pump itself is good and is just in an "off" cycle, you can perform this quick check:
On the Classic and Deluxe models, set the plant Selection to Salad Greens. On this setting, the Pump is set to run continuously, so it should come on right away. Check on the inside rim of the pod holes in the Grow Surface and see if water is now flowing out of the little spouts. If the Pump is running, return your Garden to the correct plant selection for the Seed Kit you are growing, and know that all is well and that your AeroGarden Pump will come on and go off as it is supposed to. If the Pump is not working, click here to see complete instructions for troubleshooting the Pump.
On the Pro models, set the plant selection to Strawberries. Now press and hold the "Select” button until the light next to Strawberries starts blinking, and then immediately release it. This sets the Pro to the “Super Grow” cycle, where the pump is set to run continuously, so it should come on. Check on the inside rim of the pod holes in the Grow Surface and see if water is now flowing out of the little spouts. If the Pump is running, return your Garden to the correct plant selection for the Seed Kit you are growing, and know that all is well and that your AeroGarden Pump will come on and go off as it is supposed to.
