Well I got my water pump installed and piping out juice to my plants.

That one plant refuses to die and is still growing. I've named it Hercules (and hope it's a girl.)

good job man!! Glad you are going in the right direction.

You know what guys, I am wondering if half of the rootball was out of the water all the time, how the growth would be?? More oxygen...all I know is everytime I give them some air, even 5 minutes, and some nutes, they go nuts...might try that next time

Oh I redid my bubble system too.

Pets mart has bubble plates, they come in 3 sizes. I put 4 of those in the bottom of my tank and now I have completely even bubbling through the whole system.

The pump I also got at Pets Mart, it was a tabletop fountain pump, picked it up for I think $18. It's working great. With 6 tubes going to the plants each one gets a tiny trickle, which is perfect. It also has a pressure setting on the pump.

Try it out and let me know how it goes. On this big plant I've got, I keep about 3 inches of root in the water, and the rest is hanging about an inch and a half off of the surface of the water.

That is why that one or two inch air pocket below the cups and above the water is so important. But if you leave the roots in just air for too long, they will dry up and wilt. It only takes a short while. They can be revived, but there will be SHOCK! If you try it, mist them often.

And Therion,
I just want to share a thought and wise you grow brothers up to a fact. I am not pointing a finger at anyone, but I've seen some confusing advise given to you. I signed up here in 2005, left and came back in 2007. I've seen 100's of members, 100s of posters, that post info here and they have never grown a plant and they give confusing, inaccurate advise. Be careful who you listen to, and weigh the advise given. I've seen a lot of SOIL Growers try to give advise to HYDRO growers and visa versa. I've seen young kids give advise here and they've nerver seen a plant grow. There are a dozen books at amazon.com on growing and there are a dozen other grow sites, although this one is the largest and has the most to read and study. The best advise anyone can give you is read and study and get some on hands experience, some trial and error experience and see what works best for you. People argue CFL vs HID lights, Soil Vs Hydro, High Temps, Low Temps, High Humidity, Low Humidity, Trim, do not trim, PH at 5.8 and ph at 6.5.
Find out what works best for you and take advise from those with experience and pics and journals and grows. These two guys here, Gr33nthumb and LongHorn Fan are really great growers willing to share on hands experience. They have pics, journals, and great advise and great ideas. I admire and respect them both too.

well said Rose, I fully agree.

A good tip I was given...If you aren't positive of the outcome of what you are about to do. DONT DO IT... Unless you're expierementing I guess. :)

Rose, question: I use tap water and was told to use h2o2 to kill the bad stuff. I use foxfarms nutes, which are organic. My question is, Does the h2o2 kill the good stuff in the nutes?

I've seen people argue here over the fact of trying something new they have never done before. I do belevie in experimenting, but if you do not know what will happen, why endanger your GROW?
I have seen lots of posts here on
I am going to try Cat Urine, I am going to try human urine, I am going to put mollassas in my tank, I am going to try some cat shit, I am going to add some salt or other wierd chemical or nutrient, I am going to spray them with coca-cola, etc............and they killed their plants. If you are going to try a wierd experiment, try it with just one plant.
And, I saw a guy here giving advise on how to grow Jamacian pot in Hydro buckets. Isn't Jamacan pot Sativa or am I wrong?
I have 4 friends near my hometown that I taught how to grow, and let them use my equipment and lights, in exchange for a free ounce or share of their grow. all 4 used City tap water. One let it sit 24 hours and he got bad algae. he learned better. I have read in several books that city water is OK, and well water is OK too, right out of the tap. I used well water right out of my faucet on 9 grows. Worked great for me, wtih no added peroxide or h202. I do not know from experience, but I have read from several places do not use it and organic nutes too. Logic says it would mess with the good stuff in organic nutes, but I do not know it for a fact.

Yessir Rose, it's all trial and error at this point.

My last plant here is teaching me a lot... I think I have the hang down of larger plants. The larger plants seem to get their message across a lot more clearly where as the smaller ones just don't.

Trying to figure out problems with the smaller plants gives me a headache

Makes me wonder why anyone would grow in soil?

Those leaves should not be dropping down like that, those leaves should either be stright hoizontal or slightly pointing upwards (not the tips, the entire leaf)

is your rockwool sitting in the wateR?

something is making them do that
