DIY with Quantum Boards

Hi guys ive been looking at these quantum boards and i was thinking to have 8 QB 132's (4 @ 2700k, 4 @ 4000k) in my 8x4 tent

so i would need
2 x HLG-240H-C1750A
https://www.digikey.com/product-det...d=ref_findchips_standard&utm_source=findchips

2 power cords like this one
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079ZRXKY...colid=FN9KHXHGUS1V&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

and 2 waterproof connectors
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XPTV45...colid=FN9KHXHGUS1V&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Is there anything else i'm missing, aside from hangers ? also what is the difference between the driver that ends in 1750A and 1750B (only difference i can see in the specs is that B's are IP67 rating)

one more thing - what size wire do i wire the boards in series with? 22 gauge if i am not mistaken? (pls correct me if im wrong)

PS: if anyone has this current set up, if you could share your experience/pictures/par readings with these QBs - thx guys
Two 240s in a 4x8? Are you leaving half of the space empty?

One driver for 4 boards(QB132s max out at 70W i believe) I would get about 60w per board, 240W per set of 4 - i would have 8 boards total so 480W + i have a 450W Vipar and a 100w Led strip

Right now half the space in my tent is empty lol - only have 7 little guys in there

I just got a 4x8 gorilla grow tent setup earlier this week. 1100 watts of quantum boards are filling it out pretty good. If you’re not planning on filling out the whole 4x8 then you should be ok I guess lol.

So I had 2 sets of 2 fakes on 2 hlg240hc1050a . (4 boards 2 drivers) they're were up to 616w together. Was running them vertical. 3 ft heatsinks 1 board either end. I guess it's time to learn how to use a multimeter? Lol.

What's type of material is being used for the frame?
I tried 80/20 inc extruded, it was a bit too big and heavy, and there's no M3 screws with M3 T-nuts that fit it.

Ended up using markerbeam extruded beams.

Stainless button head allen screws.

Stainless T-nuts.

These for the hangers.

It's still a WIP.

Thanks for the detailed info/links.

The build is looking awesome even though it's still a WIP

Good info! I ended up not even making a frame for mine lol. Actually just used paper clips and ratchet hangers lol.

Flowering -

Did something I ususally don't do to my autos normally , but it is by circumstance that I had to MOVE TO the 12/12 room. The Blue Dream is in week 7 ( anyways ) so I don't think this forward in its 18/6 grow that it should be that bad ... I also moved the La Fruita for the same reasons.

So by accident all are in mid / late flower TOGETHER. The plant CD12/12 is another candy dream grown straight from seed 12/12 and is already throwing pistils.

420 total watts - currently
4 boards ( 2 288 / 2 304 ) mixed spec

The 4000 is actually running ( tripod ) for a seedling cup tray but is throwing extra supplemental lighting .

Strange mix of Terpy fragrances from the girls all being together.

So I guess within the next three weeks or so I will be chopping and hanging and making some room for more.

hello folks, can anyone tell me if the hlg 600h will light a 4x4 tent sufficiently? tent is 9' tall so having to keep it 24-30" off the canopy is not a problem.

i've heard qbs have issues around the edges and corners.

if not the 600h, what would people suggest?
I bought this light and just set it up a few weeks ago. My space is 8x4 I would say the 600h would kill it in a 4x4. It is one super bright light with even distribution. Awesome light, wish I got two instead of the 260xl's. This is coming from a guy who switched from HPS.

Quick question, can I run a single qb288 off of a HLG-240H-C2100A without issue? Didn't want to overpower it if that was possible.

I’m guessing you are wanting the hlg-240 to add another qb288 in the future to run 2 on it. As far as running 1 qb288 on a hlg-240h-c2100 the voltage rating for the driver is 59-119. You could probably get away with it. If it where me and that was my plan I would get a
HLG-240h-54 and make sure I had it turned down to the rated wattage of the board and then when I got the second board I would run it parallel. Im sure someone has done it both ways.

Actually already have the second board, just wanting to run the single at the moment and was hoping to use the HLG-240H-C2100A for that purpose.

Well max current on board is 2800 and the driver will max at 2100 so I think you would be good. I know I have 2 qb304 on a 240-1050 and the driver is putting out like 227vdc set at around 800ma so I would imagine it can handle it. Might email horticulture lighting group to make sure

Hey everyone it’s been a while since I posted on here. I have a question for Stephenj37826 and the RIU Community. I have a HLG 550 that I bought almost a year ago. mine runs off 2 HLG 240-1050a drivers and has fin heat sinks which I like. I love my light and has never given me one problem! But this morning I went down to check my humidifier and see if it was filled. Anyway when I looked I seen the temperatures at 66° and looked at the light and only one side was lit up? So I unplugged it from the timer and plugged it back in and they both were lite. I don’t understand why that would happen as all the connections were fine and have never moved my light from my 4x4. I just hope I don’t have problems down the road. Does anyone know what it might have been that would make one side go out? Thanks everyone

Happy Growing!
