Assuming the sphere was well calibrated and the efficiency at various test currents is lower show lower efficiency than in our "official" efficiency charts, does that suggest our calculation of LER is incorrect and that the SPD on the datasheets is only a rough estimation?

Has anyone calculated LER of SPD actually measured from a spectroradiometer or is all LER calculations based on the SPD from the datasheet? I think cree publishes their LER values and that they are very close to the values we calculate, but maybe their LER calculations were also based on the datasheets SPD data.

Is it possible that LER changes significantly (upward) when underdriven?
Yes the cree spds are spot on. I've seen them tested under spectrometer. We actually bought a lighting passport and will have it next weekend. We will defiantly contribute as much as we can with it soon.

Things that we learned for sure:
-you get penalized 8% at that power (50w) using relectors
-there is a lot of green in the 3000k/4000k spectrums that isnt really represented accurately in the spd graph(although power and operating temp do influence this to some degree if I'm not mistaken)

I believe to know why we have got so "strange" blue: green: red numbers.
It seems to me the numbers refer to % of lumens/brightness and not to % of total PPF/flux...

In lumens green lights is much brighter than red or blue, this would mean, if the sphere evaluated the blue, green and red ratio in lumens, then these numbers have to be converted to % of PPF.
In this case the 73-77% green from the data refers to "visible light" not "PAR".
Taking this in view, the numbers are much more logical to me, or not?

@PSUAGRO. Maximizer now utilizes 3000k 90cri citizen CLU048 1818.

NEW PRICE IS 1299.00 once ETL is finished

These Numbers are from the damaged lamp ran in a Goniophotometer.

Uncertainty if fan was functional. Fan only installed for testing purpose and its wattage is reflected below. Will have fixture back today or tomorrow and will learn more. Thus far photometric data doesn't coincide completely with par testing. We will have a much better grasp of light distribution by the end of the weekend. In my testing with apogee sq-120 I noted numbers that where 5-10% higher than the numbers that we are getting from photometric software..... Time will tell. Some other lighting pros that we all use as a bench mark had made the statement that ITL didn't know how to test horticultural lights properly. In other tests that have been published they showed around 8.5% lower numbers than Bugbee showed on the Gavita 1000 watt DE fixture.

WITH OPTICS
Total Watts 614.2 with 2.5 watts on fan
Total Flux in mW 207,872
Total Lumens 59553
Total PPF 1030

WITHOUT OPTICS
Total Watts 612.9
Total Flux in mW 226,473 with 2.5 watts on fan
Total Lumens 64882

OPTICAL EFFICIENCY WITHOUT AR COATING = 91.8%...... We should see a 2%+ increase in optical efficiency with the AR coating. MOQs are huge for the coating thus the reason we didn't test these new optics with it. We will do a follow up test with the Coated Lenses and post the numbers when available.


So it seems these high quality glass lenses we are using aren't so bad after all.

Those numbers are the 90 cri which makes lumen numbers lower. Also we received the unit back and the temporary fan isn't running properly. So the case temps where around 75-80 C........

It got so hot the cobs are discolored.

We will send another one out this week for confirmation.

Transversely we all know the numbers on SE 1000 ran vert wouldnt that Kong all the LEDs listed as 1000 replacements?

I think there is still more light than shown as this test was flawed unfortunately. I think numbers will be over 1200 PPF easily.

yikes, with the lenses ON that didn't help the cob temps/voltage drop either............citis should handle 75c with 120mm pin sinks, how long did they run it before taking the data? i'm thinking it got waaaaay hotter

Definite re-test needed, but for now i'm sticking with topbin cxb, they did pretty well with 100mm pins/1400mah and no air movement.......with grow room circulation 4000k bare should break 2ppf/w

A SE 600w hps is more efficient than a SE 1000w hps...........the #s on a vert bare bulb running off a digi ballast in a sphere would probably shock us ..........hahaha

it's just a PITA to run vert/stadium style setups, STILL one of the most efficient ways to grow indoors.

you have to hit 1400+ppf to break 2ppf/w on your cob fixture, that's a big jump........we are starting to realize these packages need to be treated as thermal hogs:)

From a grower perspective There a Zero grow reports that Show a improve with the high cri colors. But several grow reports that tried It. There was nothing special to see Growmau did even a video grow Report and nothing.

LEDs Started kicking ass when they started to output a heck of lumens for Less power.

I'm flowering 3 plants under CXA3070 3000k 80cri and will be flowering their clones under Vero 3000k 90cri shortly. While it may not be the best comparison using older Crees against the newest Veros, it will still be good to see the difference if any in different cri of the same color temp.

Yes, it's more efficient, no it isn't more of a PITA anymore. In fact, it's less.
different strokes for different folks............I found vert/stadium style difficult while trying to hit 1gpw with HID, didn't happen anyway. I'm not a good indoor grower so it makes sense. Doing this shit out of a closet now is easy peasy, the rest forget about it. Cheap soil, perlite, oc+ in my for profit days, hated scrogs and any other labor "intensive" stuff==== lazy, I remember my Innoled 98 cri single cob run, I fucking despised rotating pots........lol

You are a vert veteran, so I can't disagree with you.

Will give them their first real feeding next week. Will show how easy it is to follow @multipass method of micronizing the dry plant based ferts in a blade style coffee grinder for quicker breakdown & uptake.
