Would love to compare notes on all the grey hair causing shit lol. Never did the indoor thing but had a few "holy crap there's a lot" outdoor grows, and a nice Mexican thing in the distant past. I do miss the rush of it all and had a crap load of fun lol. To bad about the setback, that would just add a whole new issue to deal with. Great read and great tutorial on a great setup!!! I run a similar albeit smaller setup now just to keep an old guy and his old lady happy and medicated in their retirement years lol. Looking forward to reading, learning more, thanks!

I'm interested in the evolution of the hanging rails, too. Looks like they could solve a lot of space problems...

Suddenly I'm imagining these rails under my vertical trellis panels.... hmmmmm!

I am so proud of myself for discovering how to see all the threads a member posted-----I always enjoy hearing/especially seeing what others are up to.



I made an aero cloner / early veg out of this 2' x 2' Botanicare tray, lid and dome------added a meter for temp/rh inside the dome.

3/4" bulkheads for supply and drain lines (quick connects) also.


I tried lots of different spray line configurations-----can't say which is "best".

Notice I used that blue "cobra line" again-----great little part-----can be found Lowes/HD in the lawn sprinkler section----available in different lengths and diameters.

The lid I ordered with no holes drilled------made a 7 x 7 grid of 1-3/4" holes that 2" neoprenes snugly fit into-----NO NEED FOR NET CUPS.

I ordered a pack of critical kush seeds through attitude and started them in vermiculite cups described earlier.


Once the roots were this size, the vermiculite was rinsed away with water then to sink and sprayer for the remainder.


This is how they looked in their new home under a 2' x 2' 8 bulb T5-----just the right size for the tray.

A feature I discovered by accident:

Since there no net cups and medium-----the stems can be adjusted up/down in the inserts for a level canopy.

Another part I like is that inline valve in the supply line. Without it----seems like every time I peeked under the lid I'd get blasted.


Just used a trash can (grocery store) for the rez monitored by a tri-meter.

Used a Large submerse able pump with the 2" cross technique for a filter.

Pump timing set to 15 seconds on----15 minutes off.

the bare naked ladies went in. When they get larger they're moved to another tube or spread apart.

I can't stress enough the benefits of having these panels. A rough estimate for a tube with all the "extras" (end caps, panels, fittings, and hardware) cost ~100 US-----a pair of rollers cost ~50.

Playing around with a reflector design (fun, fun). Used reflextic? for the material.

If you notice the panels----big mistake to use white vinyl (algae)----changed to black later. Don't use vinyl with a fabric backing either.

Grinned at myself when I saw that home made tumbler-----and just look where I put my aero cloners and those ice probes------waste of money and time.

Another shot of veg system. Those 1/2" metal conduit pipes served a dual purpose 1) help hold up the panels -----used large binder clips attached to the pipe and 2) Support for the plants. Those white things you see on the pipe are called "flip clips" (1000 for 30 bucks)----great for trellis work.

This method of growing plants wouldn't be practical if the tubes couldn't be moved side to side and adjusted up and down.

I used box rails and rollers -------way overkill-----But I loved sliding the tubes apart and walking into the canopy-----like power steering.

The tumbler was the first thing I saw lol. I used an drum humidifier for my first one lol, still use it after 25 years for small bud runs and it works great if I stick it in the freezer for two days lol.

I remember the first time I put my tumbler in my frig freezer----checked on it about 2 hours latter----this blonde powder was all over the little fan in the back After that I used another tote for a cover----later just kept in the veg room.

I upgraded my ghetto tumbler (a little) to this version:





Started with a coffee can (Colombian of course). picked up a rotisserie kit at Walmart ($25).

Cut out 3 sections of the can using a dremmel tool and cutting wheel-----wrapped it with 125 micron stainless steel screen and duct clamps.



It seemed to help getting the lid on and off with that neoprene insert around the shaft ( lid hole drilled 1-3/4").



I used a super low-tech method of getting the can secured to the shaft-----not pretty----but it is 7 years old.



A look inside the can. I guesstimate about $60 bucks into it.

I learned it worked very well just filling the can about half full of very dry trim---- super brownies

Well if you ever make another a drum humidifier works ok lol. Its pretty slow though, kinda like rick tumbling lol. But even has a tray to catch triches .

Off to the flower room.



Four 10' x 6" schedule 40 pvc pipe. The logic (or lack thereof) behind this design:

Strive to get as much useable plants material exposed to the light/s-----and train the canopy the same distance from the light/s.

Three 1Ks in the center of the tunnel on a mover.



I admit----I still get a mini rush every time I slide the tubes apart and walk right in ( with a ladder if I'm working on the upper canopy).

I highly recommend investing in a good 3 step ladder (with wide steps) if ever running this way.

The trellis should be pretty self explanatory from the pic. The lower branches in the lower are trained toward the center forming the bottom of the circle.



To mount the lights----I screwed a light rail track to a length of super strut (used self drilling screws).The lights are ~5' from floor.

I played around with all kinds of trellis configurations----as you can see---was using screen in this run----abandoned for just the 1/2" EMT.

Some where, I'll have a look. I just covered the drum frame with screen (100 micron) and put a metal disc on the open side held in place with the a lock bushing in the shaft. Got a 24v plug in transformer (HVAC supply) and there you have it lol. Oh ya the tray in the bottom that holds the water just slides out.

OK here goes:

In 2000 I was living in this last house owned by my "main guy"----about 20 miles outside of Raleigh NC.

I had never been in trouble with the law. One fall afternoon I was driving home on this country road with tobacco fields on both sides.

Got almost to my house when the blue lights came on----pulled over and looked in my side mirror-----a deputy was walking up with his gun drawn-----I keep both my hands on the steering wheel.

After identifying myself he said "we're already in down there" all very nice and professional like. I wasn't hand cuffed and when we got to the house I understood why-----had never seen as many cops in one place before.

I was met by the lead SBI agent who gave me the warrant to read. Turns out the SBI, two city police departments, county police and even the national guard was used to do a FLIR reading.

I offered to make a video explaining the operation and help them take it down (I could hear every defense lawyer in the country scream at me). I had about 4 lbs hanging to dry (the very night before had moved that much).

Over 10 lbs in NC carried a MMS of 25-30 months. These people weighed all the plant material and pronounced I had 50 lbs of marijuana-----if that were only true I'd be the weed god-----50 lbs from 5K flowering.

So I made the video and help take it down-----then this attractive young DA and the sheriff showed up along with this Boss Hogg looking fellow that handed me a bill for $157,000 for taxes for 50 lbs. Of course I could't (wouldn't) pay that so they started loading up all my personal property including all my tools down to my coffee maker and ironing board.

Of course they tried to get other names-----"rather burn in hell" was my reply.

Finally off to jail we go with me riding shotgun and not hand cuffed riding with the cop that first stopped me.

Found out the next morning my bail was set at $100,000-----insane, I had no other drugs or firearms on me or in the house.

Paid a bail bonds man $10,000 the next day and got out-----went looking for a lawyer.

outta gas now ( more later if interested).

FLIR (national guard) along with my power bills justified a warrant.

The heat started in a previous location. I was renting (stupid) because bridges had already been burned.
Somehow moisture got in my power meter and burned up the meter base contacts. Since I was renting----had to hire an electrical to do the work. Somehow my landlord found out and started snooping around. Moved my op and thought I had got away clean-----not so----got followed to the new location. They left me alone for 18 months before the raid. That's my speculation.

About FLIR-----before my trial -----A case went before the Supreme court (kyalo case). The court ruled a warrant was required before using. My worthless lawyer failed to file for a dismissal before the deadline.
