I use one of those garden heating pads and I have seeds crack in as little as 12 hours. Prior to that I used my router and it was just as nice but the router was good for cooking a bean or two on a bad day.

Just got my beans in today. No freebies included so I shot Shay an email. Out of the 20 beans I asked for 3 look supect for various reasons and will be the first I attempt to germ. Regardless of those 3 beans and no freebies I'm still happy with the small amount of money I paid for these seeds. As long as my fems are fem then I will have gotten more then my monies worth.
update: Yep, Shay is gonna make right on her promise and I'm looking at 10 Kaya Gold (Fem) beans as a freebie. Woot Woot! Seriously can you really beat 30 beans for 20 bucks? No, and you know it so don't bother trying. Lets be real too even if it was "bagseed" some of my best homegrown was bagseed I had from what was mids at the time of purchase. I can see myself shopping with her again.

They are supposed to be feminized seeds but I'm not sure. I'll find out for sure in a couple of weeks. Probably flip the lights in, two weeks. Hoping for the best expecting the worst.

Those do look a little shabby. We all may be growing bag seed. That's part of the reason I am going to flip the lights soon. Hate to think I am wasting electric, nutes, and time on a bunch of males.

I will reserve judgement until I can flower out a few. Lets be real honest with ourselves here. If the fems are genuinely fems then we are still on the up and up for the price paid. All the local and overseas seed shops sell fems for $7 to $12 easily per seed if not more. With that in mind even if you get sacked with a few duds you still aren't paying anywhere near even the $7 minimum for a single fem seed. Again I'm looking at the fact that all I need is for these seeds to be genuinely fem and it's a win, win regardless of the 3 or so that never crack given I paid $20 for 20 seeds and should see another 10 seeds soon enough.

Growing conditions and lighting have as much to do with results as genes do. Some of my best smoke has been bagseed even when compared to the Barneys Farm, GHS, Vision and World of Seeds stock I have purchased. my setup is 4 surge protecters screwed to the top sideways with 3 23w cfl bulbs in each one with long tube fls going down the sides.
in other words loads of light the area was 4x3x3 the plant was 23 inches high blocked up to 3 inches from the light when I chopped it.
used the blue for veg and the orange looking ones for flower I seen some huge buds on the tube with the method I used.
used miracle grow ferts all purpose then max bloom mixed into store bought drinking water.
Was a old cabinet for a fridge had a temp controlled heater heating air from outside venting into my house.
anything sound bad in this setup was my first smokeable grow dad ripped up the first one
would leaf burn slow buds? quite a few times my fan leafs got cooked cus I moved shit around sometimes.

Nothing bad at all. I would suggest moving to either a 150w hps or 250w hps if you have the ventilation capacity for it. My first and second grows where with 8 23w CFLs and I found the lack of light penetration with CFLs lead to very low yeilds. It sounds like a lot of light when you add up the wattage but the lights need to be 1" to 2" close to the plant to actually get the most out of them. When growing plants out naturally and even with aggressive LST the results are lacking. I have seen the best results with CFLs and LED screw in blubs come from growers here that practice the scrog method. For me that's not an option as I need a perpetual grow where I can shuffle the plants in and out and the 250w gives great coverage in my 2x2x4 flower box. The penetration depth of the 250w is 18" were as CFLs are 4".
