IS THERE SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH LIGHT??? HELP PLZ

ok everyone its been a while ive moved and set up a new grow room. now so far i have a small veg tent: 3X5X6 it contains a 4ft 6 bulb t5 with a 4 in inline fan and carbon filter plus a small humidifier. As for my flower room i currently have built a 5X10X8, this currently contains 2 1000watt hoods being cooled by a 10in inline fan. a second inline fan with carbon filter to further clear the room. 2 drain tables, multiple osculating fans and an ac unit.
Now my question is if i add another light to the flower room will that be too much for that space. i am growing in 5-7 gallon bags of coco, synthetic nutes, scrogging the whole thing as well.
i have come up with a few different scenarios as well. option one is 3 1000 watters all hps. option 2, 2 1000 watts with a 600 watt in the center again all hps. option three same as option 2 but instead of the 600 watter in the center running an hps, i put a mh bulb in it for a mixed spectrum grow.
so theres all the info please help if u can ive heard people say theres no such thing as too much light and ive also heard that there is so any opinion is greatly appreciated thanks again.

light saturation, from what i've heard, occurs at about 55 watts per square foot for HID.

also i you have any example of your own room plz tell because im always ok with changing it up or making it bigger. i also considered a 5X15X8 tent instead

by light saturation do you mean too much and harmful to the plants?
i don't know about harmful, never heard of light bleaching indoors. but not helpful anymore.

not sure where i heard it. you can probably go up to 65 watts per square foot, i've heard of people using 1000 watts per 4x4 area.

ok cool awesome thanks man, now if i were to run such a high light out put would you suggest doing anything else differently?? as in higher ppm of nutes or anything like that?

Light saturation just means that increasing the light won't increase photosynthesis any further. Think of how when the ground is saturated it can't take in any more water and you're left with excess water. When a plant reaches it's saturation point it can't take in any more light and you're left with unused (wasted) light.
They teach that a plants saturation point can increase as a short term adaption to higher light intensities but first hand I haven't personally witnessed that so I can't vouche for that but if that is the case, even if you reach the light saturation point a plant can still adjust to the surrounding environment and try to get the most efficient use out of what you give it.

seems like a logical way to think of it. so on one hand yes i may not be killing plants but on the other i could be wasting money on electric and making more heat issues that i have to solve for no reason. i guess this wwould be a much easier question to answer if someone knew the exact amount of light cannabis can handle. uncle buck says he believes 55 watts per sq foot. ive read others saying 60-70 is max and i also read one idiot who said 100 watts per sq ft which seems ridiculous to me.

You'll have a tough time finding an exact agreed upon number because there aren't a whole lot of reliable scientific studies done specifically on cannabis, especially ones that would find exact saturation points. It comes down to what people notice from experience and from your own experiences. Your best bet would be to start around that 55 watt mark and adjust accordingly to how your plants seem to be handling it.

and as long as it was winter I had no probs with it on a 1000w
when it got too hot in the summer I just bumped down my wattage

many things I have read said 1000w had a optimal growing area of 4 sq ft
Depending on reflector design

Also if ypu have a sealed room what about c02. If you have alot of light, hardly any c02 and alot of nutes then your plants will grow but still lacking. you will need all 3 maxxed out for . I am no expert so take w a grain of salt.

movin up thought my house is getting a face lift and im getting bigger rooms :) finally no hauling shit bent over in my crawl space lol

edit basically 4x4 but every lil bit helps lol

thank you everyone for ur input its much appreciated, and good idea bryleetch i will try that idea and start at 55...and as for the co2 anzohaze i have considered it but its is extremely hard to use it correctly because most people dont and the problem i have is that my sealed room gets very hot very fast so i have a few large inline to remove it. so i would have to use a timer to turn them off in order to saturate the plants with co2 and by the time i could do that the room would prob be at 110 deg. ive been told co2 is best used in a warehouse where there is enough room to keep everything cool with out removing all the air like a small tent would.

I have found no need for co2 YET I would like to give it a go

but my lil grow box would pull a few zips short of 2 lbs with no co2 :)

coldsmoke could u post a pic cause i would love to see that!! and i feel the same way i get great yields with out it and if its not gonna make much difference then why use it lol

If your looking for more yield and you have digital ballasts, get the new AC/DE hoods and DE bulbs. Running same footprint as you have now will increase yield. They sell 8' cord extensions. Use just them from ballast to hood. Shorter cords makes more efficient light and more light. You can run them 3' above canopy. And they push 3' into the canopy.

Yes there is such a thing as too much light, not sure exactly where that is, but if you're exceeding a nice bright late summer day, it's probably wasted.
I think two 1000's in your space with a supplemental MH or plasma would be perfect.
